We did the rear brakes on my son's Mustang many years ago (2000 something model) and instead of using a tool to screw in the rear calipers (because I wasn't aware of it), I used a large needle nose pliers. Yes, it was more difficult, but it got the job done. After cleaning the surface of the axle flange, I use some kind of lubricant such as a light coat of anti seize to help prevent rust from forming in the future. Bare metal will just rust again. Thanks again, we'll be replacing his CX5 brakes soon.
One issue is that clip on the pad is supposed to go inside the caliper bracket not outside. A lot of guys get it wrong because it's intuitive to think that it backs the pad away from the rotor. But its supposed to be inside as a wear indicator.
May I ask what kind of bit is that you are using to remove the rust?? thank you so much! I am going to change the rotor and cailper on my Cx5. this Video is very useful!!

This really helps me understand how to do the brakes on our 2015 CX-5. Thank you!
I am glad to hear that! Thank you for the comment and please consider subscribing to the channel and God bless you

Did you open the master cylinder before you pushed the piston back in?
Hello, no I didn't
Thank you!
You are welcome!
caliper piston does not back, what should i do?
Hello. Take your time pressing the piston back in, if this is your first time working this type of calipers be patient you can do it. Keep me posted.
Love how you let the caliper hang from the rubber brake lines..... that's always best practice when doing a brake job...geez
Thank you for taking the time to comment. Have a great day and God bless you 🙏
For rear brake jobs, is the handbrake released before doing this?
