Doubt you could afford one and she knew it. I wouldn't give you that much time. If you can't identify a Flying V by yourself looking around you need to go home. The Guitar Ctr. team is taught to recognize Kiss Army
They do exist, but they are few and far between. I encourage you to pursue your dream!! I had the honour of teaching at a proper, respectful music store for many years.

as a girl walking into a guitar shop, i could only say, every-damn-time. : this pink guitar would look cute on you! : electric? acoustic fits you more : do you play taylor swift good days 😂
Again, Guitar center is like Lamestop for instruments. It's easier to take it to a local music store or a pawn shop to retain what you've paid for. I prefer taking it to church, make a couple cents, and be strongly blessed for it.
Tom Morello yup and when it breaks like mine did without any warning have fun paying a specialist to fix it! Also hope your drunk friends don't spill beer on your pickups bud. It's called being a smart responsible instrument owner man, don't be a jack off.
Warranty isn't an idiot tax, it's a spare tire. I have warranty on all of my electronics, even though I've not once screwed them. There's a first time for everything.
Tom Morello warranties are a great way to protect against accidents. My rule is pick an amount that you can easily come up with to replace a piece of equipment if it fails, mine is $150, any gear that costs more than that get the warranty. That amount or less no warranty. That simple.
+Tom Morello Good thing I'm a dollar budget luthier, but WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD WARRANTY PICKS?(picks are for pussies tbh) And warranty's are useless life vests since a company could be under new management and has the power to void/reject the warranty at any time(ask AVGN).
You pretty much embodied what annoys me most as a woman. Seriously: either it's the boyfriend thing, I even had someone say: "we have hello Kitty guitars down there". I said: "okay, let me see them". And then proceeded to play Lamb of God, Opeth etc. on that guitar. The guy's face was priceless.
"Who tuned this? Was is me?" Superb reference to the "Things Drummers Say In The Studio" video! Great work on this one Jared, definitely one of your best videos yet!
+EytschPi42 I worked for one in Oxnard, CA and another in San Antonio, TX. Both sucked royally. The guitar department salesmen were the biggest dicks by far. Egos for miles; pompous, arrogant assholes. I worked in the warehouse. Rat shit all over everything, half eaten guitar cases, sales guys bitching about customers--and management not only allows it, but supports it. And yeah, they actually sold the shitted-up gig bags... Too many reasons to name why that place was a nightmare. It was the most fucked place I ever worked. Thought it would be different at a different store in a different state a thousand miles away... NOPE! Same old bullshit. Same old tool bags.
A nonymous I think pretty much all musicians have worked at one at one point, and we all end up quitting for the same reason.... unless you are the reason. Lol. I had rather go to a Mom and Pop Shop and pay more than ever set foot in a GC again. Our local Sam Ash is a really nice store with a good staff, but it hasn't been there long so it hasn't had time to turn into a GC environment yet.
First time I walked into guitar center at 14 years old: Sales Associate: Hey man what's up? Me: eh just here to buy my first guitar. Sales Associate: Oh awesom man! What's your poison? Stratocaster? Les Paul? Me: anything that plays good with Blues, Led Zeppelin, or Three Days Grace. Sales Associate: Alright man I got you! *Pulls down a used vintage Gibson Les Paul Standard* Sales Associate: I promise you man you will not be disappointed. Me: This is $3,000. Sales Associate: Dude. You want this guitar. 🤗 Me: 😂😂😂😂You're funny man; seriously. *puts Gibson back on the wall, and looks at the Epiphone selection* 😂😂😂😂 that was the best experience I have ever had in a Guitar Center! LMAO
this goes for anything let alone guitars but if somebody comes to me and they say that there are beginner and they're trying to learn I'm not going to offer them something that's that high-end and expensive
The music shop in town has really nice employees. I told them that I wanted to pick my first bass and they shown me the best beginners bass ever, SR300EB in my favourite colour, BLACK. They never even thought of showing me the sexy Fender American Deluxe Dimension (so I just come in to buy nothing and play it lmao). I know it's business, but it worked on me cus that's the only store I buy from now.
Yeah, it's like all retail stores. They really don't make any profit selling you the item, like a computer or a guitar, but make it all on the E.P.P.'s (Extended protection plans). It's so dumb though. No one will buy one. But they keep pitching them.. Of course if you drop your guitar and the headstock snaps off at a gig, you will wish you'd have bought it though.. lol..
+drumsNstuff79 I hate going to guitar center . The one in Tacoma, man they are real jerks . I came in with $4,000 to get a gold top les paul . He told me to go wash my hands before I touched it . What ? Good salesman right ? Went to G C in reno same atittude their . Went to G C in Seattle, they were better their, but they seem to hate their job or hate other musicians . I don't get it. Doubt you could afford one and she knew it. I wouldn't give you that much time. If you can't identify a Flying V by yourself looking around you need to go home. The Guitar Ctr. team is taught to recognize Kiss Army
The amount of times employees instantly lose interest when I say ‘im just looking’ is hilarious
That's probably a truth for every specialty store. 😅
Mostly cuz you just instantly feel like your crowding them after they say it. At least in my experience
Cuz it's a retail store, not a zoo. Come in with money and buy something, don't waste our time.
@@BasedHyperborean the one near me is a zoo, I go to watch the local creatures attempt to play Smoke On The Water
5:20 As a female guitarist... That made me cringe so hard xD
CherryAndCoffee true.
True.
Wait... you said you're a guitarist? But... you're a girl!!
So why are you here? .........
C.C. eww femanist
I was planning to get my first bass but now I’m scared to go to the store. 😂
Order
It’s fine as long as you know what you need
loovキャノピー buy playstation then, sellers there are not so jerks
Just get what you need, don't listen to them if they start going off track.
Don't worry, u can find basses in the bassement.
The pedal imitations were the funniest
my dream is to open a proper instrument store to treat musicians with respect
They do exist, but they are few and far between. I encourage you to pursue your dream!! I had the honour of teaching at a proper, respectful music store for many years.
You'll be outta business in 3 days. :)
good luck man!!!

@@iniquity7 same, I got a rhoads v for my first electric when I was like 11 and it taught me a lot.
It's just funny now hearing people complain about it.

@@gonz9278 nice! That's a sweet guitar
I wish there were more left handed guitars in guitar stores, I'm left handed
FREEAAAKKK!
I have a guitar for lefties bit I can't play it cause I'm right handed. Oh, why do I have it? My dad din't play that guitar for 11 years and it was just sitting in the garage in it's case. Now it just sits in my room...
Nikki im a left handed bass, i dont think i could play a left handed guitar as good unless i restring it because i learned how to play on a right handed bass, backwards and upside down.
Nikki you can fix it by restringing it and switch the strings around
I'm a lefty, but I learned to play guitar right-handed, its nice cause I got a bunch more options of guitars
Guy at Sam Ash gave me a handful of guitar picks when I told him I didn't use guitar picks xD
David Dylan lmao that's awesome
I W's at a music store with my sis so she could get a new guitar and after I payed for it the cashier was like take some picks to me and I was like o_0 I play saxophone then he said take em anyways
David Dylan Sam ash is the best 👍🏻. So much better than guitar center.
bloopers please !!!
+Manoloutti I'm not quite sure I could handle the bloopers on that one tbh

Sam Ash was the only store that I would come in, the employees would know I wasn't buying anything, I would walk out and they would wave and say, "see ya tomorrow bud!" - Best music store I've ever been in
I liked Sam Ash way more than Guitar Center. The people at SA were actually knowledgeable and nice.
as a girl walking into a guitar shop, i could only say, every-damn-time.
: this pink guitar would look cute on you!
: electric? acoustic fits you more
: do you play taylor swift
good days 😂
sooo do you play taylor swift? :P
And do you have a pink guitar?
"you want warranty on this Kapoo" keep up the videos
Guitar Centre once tried to give me $350 for a 6 month old Gibson Les Paul Special that cost $1,100. Ended up selling it on Craigslist for $750.
why didnt you sell it for more though? guitars dont really lose their value, unless they get dented or slightly damaged.
Again, Guitar center is like Lamestop for instruments. It's easier to take it to a local music store or a pawn shop to retain what you've paid for. I prefer taking it to church, make a couple cents, and be strongly blessed for it.
oldGnRrocks1 I needed money fast
I just bought a tele there a month ago and the dude was super helpful. usually they're fuckin cocks in there though
We give 60% of what the lowest to mid-priced sold eBay price goes for. Not our fault, just company rules ya feel
This is Guitar Center all the way. They actually have 2 meetings every day on how to sell extended warranties and how to be a complete jerkoff.
as a former employee i can confirm this. also you lose $ out of your check if you dont sell enough warranties. true story.
+SofaKingLeet well I was considering applying there, but that's bs, nevermind
Michael Jenkins dont waste your time. they want you to be an expert on vintage gear that you will never see.
+SofaKingLeet well considering I run an epiphone through a crate amp, I don't know crap about vintage gear
Michael Jenkins nothing wrong with balling on a budget. tone is all in the fingers anyway.
4:40 “uh, what about the custom phaser?”

The noise Jared makes when Fluff asks him what the custom distortion pedal sounds like cracks me up every single time

I. Hate. When. They. Always. Ask. If. I want. The. Warranty. I take. Care. Of my stuff.
When i first got a nice les paul i got the warranty and dropped it second day i had it the only time i ever drop a guitar but they saved me
Tom Morello yup and when it breaks like mine did without any warning have fun paying a specialist to fix it!
It always seems like the workers in the drum section of GC are always happier & more willing to help you.
true haha
I would totally get that guitar that's in half
Joel Cruz 1/3 you meeean
Why do they even have that in the store ?

You pretty much embodied what annoys me most as a woman. Seriously: either it's the boyfriend thing, I even had someone say: "we have hello Kitty guitars down there". I said: "okay, let me see them". And then proceeded to play Lamb of God, Opeth etc. on that guitar. The guy's face was priceless.
30 bucks warranty for capoo... such a good deal Jared
"Who tuned this? Was is me?"
Superb reference to the "Things Drummers Say In The Studio" video!
Great work on this one Jared, definitely one of your best videos yet!

is there a manager or something that I can speak to?
YEAH LET ME GO GET HIM...... OH ITS ME! HAAJAJAJAJAJWGIAWJGIAWJGIPOAWJ
2:27 I like how his background changes with the department too
I worked at Guitar Center in Los Angeles.... and this is truly what this place turns you into.... that's the moment when I quit!
+EytschPi42
I worked for one in Oxnard, CA and another in San Antonio, TX.
I was confused about KAPOO until they brought out a capo
This shit ain't kidding! Worst customer service experiences of my life were when I was a beginner guitarist.
I played 4:37 right into my mic during class, and my teacher stopped the lesson and said “Who is gargling?”
I died laughing
First time I walked into guitar center at 14 years old:
Sales Associate: Hey man what's up?
Me: eh just here to buy my first guitar.
Sales Associate: Oh awesom man! What's your poison? Stratocaster? Les Paul?
Me: anything that plays good with Blues, Led Zeppelin, or Three Days Grace.
Sales Associate: Alright man I got you!
*Pulls down a used vintage Gibson Les Paul Standard*
Sales Associate: I promise you man you will not be disappointed.
Me: This is $3,000.
Sales Associate: Dude. You want this guitar. 🤗
Me: 😂😂😂😂You're funny man; seriously. *puts Gibson back on the wall, and looks at the Epiphone selection*
😂😂😂😂 that was the best experience I have ever had in a Guitar Center! LMAO
this goes for anything let alone guitars but if somebody comes to me and they say that there are beginner and they're trying to learn I'm not going to offer them something that's that high-end and expensive
Lmao Epiphone is indeed Gibson
The music shop in town has really nice employees. I told them that I wanted to pick my first bass and they shown me the best beginners bass ever, SR300EB in my favourite colour, BLACK. They never even thought of showing me the sexy Fender American Deluxe Dimension (so I just come in to buy nothing and play it lmao). I know it's business, but it worked on me cus that's the only store I buy from now.
Lol
Ian Evitts I love TDG 👊🏻
Me: Hey can I see that guitar I wana try it out
Guitar store guy: Sure, brings it down plugs it in plays it for 15mins while I stand their waiting
Lmao the warranty part is so true 😂
Pølarize76 And all the stupid departments they transfer you to lol
This video is exaggerated but has a ring of truth to it.
Marivec Montreuil the GC in Albuquerque & Phoenix is pretty good, friendly atmosphere if u know what ur doing & aren't there to just mess around, great employees
"Can I help you with anything?"
"No I'm good."
"Thank god."
I'm pretty sure that's just everyone who works in retail.

Me: Sure
*plugs in and crank the distortion*
*no picks in a mile*
*confused, I played what I could*
