I think the best part is the insanity of naval warfare, first you follow some ship to most beautiful and distance place on earth and of course you both open fire at each other as soon as it's possible.

I know the gloves, designed to prevent stains, are very awkward in turning pages etc., but each little crease you make at the edge of the pages will eventually shorten the life of such valuable and perhaps irreplaceable items. I had thought that on your maternal side that she would have been from Hawaii but I didn't know that didn't happen and they just went from Tahiti. Whatever version has Charles Laughton in it kinda sticks with me because I can't think of Capt. William Bligh without relating that to Charles Laughton. I guess that's just the way I figured it. It makes ABSOLUTE SENSE that the Navy command didn't see fir to supply Bligh with enough funds, food, crew, ships, and everything else, just so that Captain Bligh could go back and get his revenge for being humiliated by Fletcher Christian. Besides, the Navy figures the Bounty is gone anyway, and from what I heard about the ship's spaces and size, good riddance, and the materials gone, so what's the point of such an endeavor? Alot of people in America talk about "living off the grid" to this day. Fletcher Christian and his crew actually did it.

Taking a stick you try to remove another one from the pile WITHOUT moving any of the others! Your opponent watches the sticks like a hawk! If one moves, then it's the other's turn. And so on. The person with the most sticks wins. Of course. You need a steady hand! No good if you're drunk. But then it might be more fun? They were possibly drunk on Pitcairn sometimes? The sticks might be hand-carved ivory. Possibly walrus tusks?

You would probably not believe how many people I have come across, over 30 years, that have claimed to have directly descended from Fletcher Christian! If all of them were to be believed, he must have had several wives (in actuality only one), scores of children (in actually, he only had three) and hundreds of grandchildren! LOL
My maiden name is Christian. My paternal Grandfather's family came from the Isle of Man. My maternal grandfather's mother's family came from the Isle of Man, My Grandfather Christian said that when he tried to connect to Fletcher Christian, he could not go back far enough, You would think that such a strong connection to an 25 mile island would be clear. My daughter and I are visiting next year.

I had had occasion to speak with several Naval Historians, and they agreed that the 1984 Movie was the most truthful of the actual characters. Captain Lt. William Bligh, for example, had documented flaws in leadership, but was actually a masterful navigator. He also actually bullied his sailors with verbal intimidation and ridicule, but actually rarely punished them physically. In fact, the number of times he bestowed physical punishments, upon his crew, was one of the lowest percentages of any similar captain of the time. Fletcher Christian and Bligh remained friends until after they left the island of Tahiti
