Dude you just helped a ton of people. I was wanting to get one with local storage like the wyzze brand on Amazon. Curious if that hack will work on that one. Thanks again for making this video
You are one smart diyer I just bought the flood cam was dumbfounded about mounting it under the eve. Seen other vidz where mods were made to the camera. For warranty purposes I was considering. Then I saw yours.. And I'm glad I did. 👍🏾 edit: only concern now is how the floodlights are limited to their angle this position.
Thanks for video tip. It got me started down path to solution. The Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus I purchased 2022-11 has a different collar design, but the methods described in this video still lead to adjustment solution for eave (horizontal) mount. It is frustrating to find that Ring Support (chat and phone) had NO IDEA how to eave-mount their device. Even though the specs page on their device, AND the paper insert in pkg clearly stated "eave mount". Ring supplied NO diagram, on paper, or on web. It was clear (to me) that camera angle would be wrong, without mod for eave mount. Of course, one could make a wedge-shaped j-box extender, but that is a pile-o-work, and should utilize non-flammable materials. (Some clever swap or rotation of floodlights might even result in light shade ending up long-side-up)
Not sure about the Wired Plus but I was able to flip my light shades the right way round in the same fashion as the camera. Loosen the collars and see if they'll flip over.
I could not have said it better. Pure brilliance! I watched the dremil tool video too and thought, That’s not right. There has to be a better way to fix this. This video should get top billing not that other one. No warranty voided here!
Looking at your comment now, it seems they saw it and didn't like it because the newer floodlight cameras have a different design that prevent this fix from working LOL
Excellent! I can do this with my old Ring Floodlight. However, the latest version I just purchased, the Ring Floodlight Wired Pro, doesn't have a locknut. Have you done this with the latest Ring Floodlight Wired Pro?
Thank you. Just what I needed. Had no idea that it could be done. As stated, GENIUS! It's already mounted under the eave. Hope that I don't have to take it down... Pretty sure I'll drop and lose the screw and/or nut. Any tips to prevent that?
Got a bit of a problem. I purchased the Ring Cam Wired PRO version. It doesn't have all the things on the camera mount that you show on this version (appears to be maybe an early version of the Ring Cam Wired PLUS version). While the newer version allows me to move the camera and lights better so I can mount it on the soffit...the camera STILL points too low--any ideas on a fix for this version? Thanks!
I'm in the same situation... Newest PLUS version has a different type of ball/socket joint than this and this wont work on it. Also, the shades on the lights are at the bottom of the light instead of top because of the new joints it has too. Advertised as being for under eave install, its even in the instructions. But the actual product cannot support it.
I just bought the PRO VERSION. Does this work for that as well? Does anybody have any insight on possible weather damage by installing it like this, but on a angled fascia open to the elements?
The screw comes out of the clamping collar. Once removed, there is enough tension released to pop the ball out of the socket. The screw goes back in to clamp the socket collar again once the ball is flipped 180 degrees and reinstalled.
There is a ridge that acts as a stopper that prevents 360deg rotation of the ball in the socket. You have to remove the ball from the socket to bypass the stopper. Jump to 2:43 to see
Why not create one? I mean, GET a camera you want(any brand), buy flood lights, get nock outs, drill the hole, place the camera that you want, connect the wires(camera and flood light) and BOOM you have a camera with flood lights!!!
You'd think that Ring would WANT people to do that. Simple fix. Thank you for sharing
I just ordered one then saw your video. Thank you so much. This will save me a lot of frustration. God Bless you sir.
What is the model number that you are using? Thank you

Genius move - just what I needed, cheers mate

Installed perfectly with this method. Thanks for sharing this!
Awesome! Ring should promote your video!

@@mercbait well, that sucks!
Can't understand why they would do that. Maybe so you'll buy a 40 dollar adapter
Thank you for posting this fix!
Thank you for this video. I will attempt it tomorrow and see if it works.
Just what I needed. Thank you.
I found my new best friend. Thank you!
Thanks :) I appreciate you posting this. I reeeaaaally didn't want to order these then have to void my warranty lol.
Just glad it could help even one person!

I have not tried this with a wired pro model, although I believe someone commented that it does not work with the new pro models.
elegant solution!

Well done, very helpful
Perfect man cause I Dona TON of these! Now they just need to make the temp adjustable. (Besides just 2700K)
Very good. Thank you for this.
Awesome. Thanks
First i was like waaaat then I was like yeeeeah. Thanks champ
that helped me too. i wonder how the motion detection works when the camera isnt exactly horizontal
Mine are not exactly horizontal and they still work great.
I have 4 and they work great also
Hi man , good video ,, i want to know how you turn the lights housing !
Loosen the collar lock nut and rotate the entire light to the desired position and re-secure the lock nut.
You nailed it, thank you!

@@aarone.7551 I recorded and uploaded this video for the 2nd Gen Floodlight Camera back in 2019 before all the new Pro and Plus models existed.
Thank you
Will this work on the 2021 release of this floodlight cam?
How do you flip the light shade on each led light?
They can be loosened and turned easily enough, both at the base similar to turning around the camera mounting shaft.
Thank you!!
@midnightanvil were you able to rotate the floodlights so that cover/housing extension stayed at the top of the bulb?
Yes
I wish I saw this before I saw the one with the dremmel. Too late for me. Anyways, this is a much better solution.
My pictures are upside down is there a remedy for that?
Was this for a wired pro or wired plus? I am looking for information on how to install a wired pro under eves.
Neither, this is for 2019 Floodlight Camera (2nd Gen) prior to all the newer "sub-models"
Will this work for the newest pro version?
I just bought the PRO VERSION. Does this work for that as well? Does anybody have any insight on possible weather damage by installing it like this, but on a angled fascia open to the elements?
so you take that screw out and turn it 180 deg. when it's where it needs to be, do you put that screw back in?
The screw comes out of the clamping collar. Once removed, there is enough tension released to pop the ball out of the socket. The screw goes back in to clamp the socket collar again once the ball is flipped 180 degrees and reinstalled.
There was some goon on another video saying you needed a dremel to grind down the plastic to allow room for the camera to face up
Why can't I just loosen it up and rotate it, without pulling it apart.??
There is a ridge that acts as a stopper that prevents 360deg rotation of the ball in the socket. You have to remove the ball from the socket to bypass the stopper. Jump to 2:43 to see
