Not gonna lie, I was a hater when it was first revealed because of the knob shifter but after seeing Speed phenom run it, I am SUPER impressed. I do think Ford should have added a heads up display by now, especially to the new GT500.
Brent, one thing to point out. The GT350 is a factory car with an after market blower that started at 526 hp. The slightly less hp GT500 is coming off the factory floor with 760. So that's the basement reading, before tuning, pulley's or any other after market parts. A $40,000 GT350 with a 10k Whipple, install, and tune is a great deal, but the GT500 is the Alpha.
Someone else weighed this car, it's 4080lbs (rated 4200lbs). I watched another dyno video and it made 690-705whp which is right in line with this video. This car traps 132-135mph in the 1/4 mile. Just to put it in perspective if I did a VMP supercharger+E85 and made 700whp, I'd trap around 127-130mph, and if weigh in around 3800-3900lbs, a little less. That GT500 puts that power down extremely well.

billy heaton so there was an issue with these engines prior to 2019? I’ve just recently started looking into the 350 so I’m not caught up in all the ins and outs of it yet.

That car looks amazing! Especially in that color! Would be interested to see a side by side with the GT500 vs the GT350. Just to see the time difference lap to lap and pass to pass. Another decision to make when building the car. We know the GT500 would be quicker but how much quicker and how much power would be needed and how good would the driver need to be quicker or on par with the GT500.
James Vasser the GT350 is a little bit lighter then the GT500 when you look at power you got to look at many variables and power to weight ratio is also a key aspect of a car definitely when these to are almost identical just remember the GT500 weights in at about 4250 with no driver the GT350 is right around 3900 lbs est I do agree that there needs to be a side-by-side comparison run at the track because the transmission honestly is the one of the key differences
Nice video but two points. 1. If that's a handling pack then where was the oil separator? Didn't the dealer install it during PDI? 2. A base model GT500 is 72k. The handling pack is about 80k. A new (we're comparing new for new) GT350 starts at 60k. By the time you at the whipple, tune, labor its at about 75k+, and that's with zero warranty. So bang for buck (assuming you can get a 500) the 500 is much better. The only question is the weight and balance and which car drives better and if you want manual or DCT.
When it’s all said and done the price of this gt500 will drop like all other GT500s .... GT500s do not keep there value at all ..... horrible value ..... we all though the 13/14 where the greatest thing since sliced bread now they ain’t worth shit lol ....

@@mach183 right, but if they can't hang without an additional upgrade in the internals as I keep seeing issues on here of stock or boosted versions of the 350 , now you would be at some major extra cash, just like the SN cars in my 98. I could have built mine and give it a T56 or waited for the terminator like I should have and not had a potential money pit (weak T45, junk rod/piston motor) . The terminator at $38-$41K was the better deal & if I added up receipts for mods in the '98. And it still was never forged or T56 converted.

A: nope, unfortunately no engine designed in the era of modern emissions is bulletproof when boosted/modded. only a 2JZ can ever be a 2JZ. sadly OEM engineering philosophies applied way back in the 1990's are as they say "non-transferable".

It isn’t fair to just call that an “Automatic transmission”. The DCT is more closely related to a traditional manual transmission than a planetary automatic transmission. The DCT it has provides continuous power even during shifting. That improves acceleration drastically.
I love the trans. BUT, with no clutch pedal I have to call it an automatic. Put it in drive and it goes, have to call it an automatic. I love it though. Yes it is drastically different than a normal "auto" for sure. THANKS
I agree. No clutch pedal, it falls in the category of what most drivers consider an automatic. What's so great about it is how it performs. A lot of people still think cars with automatic trannies are slower than the same car with a manual, and that's just not true anymore. There is still a great fun factor to be had with a manual transmission car, but my money is on the DCT or something like what Koenigsegg has developed for their mega cars for all out performance.
My very first car was a 1965 Fastback. Looking at this new 500 with a bit of envy. I love my 400+ hp luxury sport coupe, import but this Cobra....wow..nice
how can you compare a 6 speed manual to a dual clutch auto 7 speed? there two completly diff cars. even at the same power, at the drag strip the 6 speed will go a second slower
Stock GT500 vs tuned, supercharged GT350. My concern is internal engine components. From information from Ford. The GT500 Predator is built to handle over 1000 horsepower giving it plenty of room for turning. I'm not sure where the Voodoo tops out. Both are amazing Mustangs that perform and sound amazing. I just think the GT500 moves the Mustang from Sports car to Supercar with it's aero and that amazing dual clutch transmission. I'm waiting to see how it performs on the track compared to the GT350 & Ford GT. Thanks for sharing that beautiful Red GT500. One thing that Speed Phenom mentioned on a recent video that was surprising. He weighed his GT500 and is was just over 4000 lbs. Around 300 lbs less than released by Ford. With the carbon fiber package. The GT500 may weigh in under 4000 lbs. Ford checked all the boxes when they designed the GT500.
The 7 speed auto transmission may shift faster but it bogs down during launch manual transmission wouldn't do that just learn to shift to make up for the computer doing it for you. Plus manual transmissions put more power to the ground vs automatics due to less drivetrain loss. Nice to finally see a GT500 been waiting on one for awhile now. Twin turbo GT350 with a manual transmission for me.
The Eaton TVS R2650 is the best rotor packaged supercharger on the market for its size. It is more efficient than a lot of rotor packages even larger units. GT350/R benefits well from them and it’s obvious the GT500 does.
That's really interesting seeing the boosted gt350 with a flat plane crank making almost identical power to the same engine with a crossplane crank. Of course the flat plane revved higher for just a tad more power, but I honestly thought their numbers under the curve would be different.

Now pulley the GT500. The 350 is pretty much at the end of its rope and I would imagine less safe with 12:1 Compression ratio. The GT500 is just starting. The 500 has more potential in my opinion (probably better rods) for sure longer head studs, better transmission etc Warranty may be a big factor as well- gone on the 350

Rick Trent it’s not an auto. It’s a computer controlled dual clutch manual transmission. It’s more than just an auto. And it doesn’t have the same parasitic losses of your typical auto.
In my opinion I would never spend over $70,000 on a mustang at all GT500 is over priced I rather get a GT350 and Work it. Brenspeed does the right thing excellent work and worth every penny. I would like to see them install Procharger on the GT350.
If they had used the flat plane crank in the GT500 know one would have wanted a GT350 going forward...period end of discussion 😆 Just imagine a GT500 sounding like at GT350. Once the tuning curb is learned and a upgraded blower is installed on one of these GT500s a person will see close to a 1000hp on E85. Or a tad less on pump 93. Let's please don't say turbo because we will see the ZR1 community go crazy 😆
how reliable will a GT350 be after you add aftermarket parts to it though? the GT500 was made to handle that power, i just get flashbacks from when a buddy of mine had twin turbos installed just to blow his motor 2 weeks later, $7,000 down the drain

My friend has a 2020 GT500 and a 2018 GT350. He says he likes driving the 500 better because of the DCT. Love my 13 GT, but that 500 is just a ridiculous car. He has a second 500 sitting at Ford by us. 2022 GT500 carbon fiber track pack. Just needs to go pick it up. Dude has 5 mustangs.
Basically comes down to if you want the dual clutch get the GT500, if you want the 3rd pedal get the GT350/sc .... but oh man that flat plane crank sounds nasty...
I think another factor to consider here in the comparison is resale value. I would think that putting a blower on a GT 350 would hurt the resale value with 90% of potential buyers. That wouldn’t be the case with the GT 500 as it is factory supercharged.
I'm a Mopar fan but, I have always loved the Mustang period, and the old Fairlane's. I really like this car, it's impressive to see 760 hp out of the factory, it really is a great car and sounds great, Awesome 👍 job Ford💯💪👍😀😀😀
U can step the power up on the GT500 just like the 350 but u get the automatic and more power from jump plus book value will stay higher on the 500 over the 350 too, won’t they
Q: wouldn’t supercharging it be taking a very high risk of engine damage? A: yes. unless of course one is mature, $"papered up"$, willing to drop the engine (and this is most important) WAIT while the associated work gets done that Ford's "football team" of engineers did to the 500 to support that level of power. children by default don't have this level of discipline, which can be a good or bad thing depending on what side of the equation you're on.
I watched Speed Phenom dyno his 2020 GT500 totally stock and he got as much as 704 WHP as his high and the low was 684 WHP. So with the 15% loss between crank and wheels it seems like the 760 HP rating is low.

The GT500 is still stock! Pulley, Longtubes, and Tune and 800! All day! I am GT350 fanboy. But the 500 is warming my heart.

how can you compare a 6 speed manual to a dual clutch auto 7 speed? there two completly diff cars. even at the same power, at the drag strip the 6 speed will go a second slower
Yea you cant compare a auto to a Manuel anymore. Auto wins let along a DCT that shift faster than anything
Stock GT500 vs tuned, supercharged GT350. My concern is internal engine components. From information from Ford. The GT500 Predator is built to handle over 1000 horsepower giving it plenty of room for turning. I'm not sure where the Voodoo tops out. Both are amazing Mustangs that perform and sound amazing. I just think the GT500 moves the Mustang from Sports car to Supercar with it's aero and that amazing dual clutch transmission. I'm waiting to see how it performs on the track compared to the GT350 & Ford GT. Thanks for sharing that beautiful Red GT500. One thing that Speed Phenom mentioned on a recent video that was surprising. He weighed his GT500 and is was just over 4000 lbs. Around 300 lbs less than released by Ford. With the carbon fiber package. The GT500 may weigh in under 4000 lbs. Ford checked all the boxes when they designed the GT500.
The 7 speed auto transmission may shift faster but it bogs down during launch manual transmission wouldn't do that just learn to shift to make up for the computer doing it for you. Plus manual transmissions put more power to the ground vs automatics due to less drivetrain loss. Nice to finally see a GT500 been waiting on one for awhile now. Twin turbo GT350 with a manual transmission for me.
An auto loses power thru the torque converter which a DCT does not have ; it is not an automatic transmission but an automated manual.
The Eaton TVS R2650 is the best rotor packaged supercharger on the market for its size. It is more efficient than a lot of rotor packages even larger units. GT350/R benefits well from them and it’s obvious the GT500 does.
That's really interesting seeing the boosted gt350 with a flat plane crank making almost identical power to the same engine with a crossplane crank. Of course the flat plane revved higher for just a tad more power, but I honestly thought their numbers under the curve would be different.

I think many exotic sportscars have like 1300hp going to a dct and they hold up jus fine
Now pulley the GT500. The 350 is pretty much at the end of its rope and I would imagine less safe with 12:1 Compression ratio. The GT500 is just starting. The 500 has more potential in my opinion (probably better rods) for sure longer head studs, better transmission etc Warranty may be a big factor as well- gone on the 350

Rick Trent it’s not an auto. It’s a computer controlled dual clutch manual transmission. It’s more than just an auto. And it doesn’t have the same parasitic losses of your typical auto.

There is a cover that installs under the hood. It is optional to have it in or out.

Just imagine a GT500 sounding like at GT350.
Once the tuning curb is learned and a upgraded blower is installed on one of these GT500s a person will see close to a 1000hp on E85. Or a tad less on pump 93.

My friend has a 2020 GT500 and a 2018 GT350. He says he likes driving the 500 better because of the DCT. Love my 13 GT, but that 500 is just a ridiculous car. He has a second 500 sitting at Ford by us. 2022 GT500 carbon fiber track pack. Just needs to go pick it up. Dude has 5 mustangs.

Basically comes down to if you want the dual clutch get the GT500, if you want the 3rd pedal get the GT350/sc .... but oh man that flat plane crank sounds nasty...
I think another factor to consider here in the comparison is resale value. I would think that putting a blower on a GT 350 would hurt the resale value with 90% of potential buyers. That wouldn’t be the case with the GT 500 as it is factory supercharged.
I'm a Mopar fan but, I have always loved the Mustang period, and the old Fairlane's. I really like this car, it's impressive to see 760 hp out of the factory, it really is a great car and sounds great, Awesome 👍 job Ford💯💪👍😀😀😀

A: yes. unless of course one is mature, $"papered up"$, willing to drop the engine (and this is most important) WAIT while the associated work gets done that Ford's "football team" of engineers did to the 500 to support that level of power. children by default don't have this level of discipline, which can be a good or bad thing depending on what side of the equation you're on.

I watched Speed Phenom dyno his 2020 GT500 totally stock and he got as much as 704 WHP as his high and the low was 684 WHP. So with the 15% loss between crank and wheels it seems like the 760 HP rating is low.
