Metroid Dread - Screw Attack after Morph Ball (Legacy sequence break)

- Thanks to the Bomuhey Skew and Wall Clip tech, we're able to collect Screw Attack immediately after Morph Ball for one of the craziest sequence breaks in the game. If you've played Dread casually before this may sound unthinkable! Watch and behold :)
This is only possible in Legacy because the sequence break requires invincibility to prevent dying out of bounds while crossing the various soft collisions we have to go through in this video.
Tricks used in this video:
Dash Melee Morph Pseudo - Used to break the explosive blob at Red Teleportal without Diffusion Beam.
Invincibility - Used to survive out-of-bounds in soft collisions (Flipper, cover doors, speedboost blocks)
Bomuhey skew - Used for various wallclips. Learn how to do this trick here: • Metroid Dread - Bomuhe...
I did this after bombs. You can use the same setup to clip through 1 tile walls as you can with early morph ball. You can clip through blue tp, clip through the wall nex to blue tp, do multiple water bomb jumps, and clip back to blue tp. Although this might require varia since when coming back you might not have enough energy. (I only tested with varia since I used it for a speedless run attempt) You could also use grapple to escape through the cold room and this wouldn’t require any additional items.
Oh yeah I posted this before home/map buffers were found and before the new fast setups. There are much easier ways to do this now - and viable with legacy grapple first.

On another note, I've already started putting together the Wall Clip tutorial. Soon you'll be able to join everyone else in the Unrestricted craze. :)
You're able to coyote from the statue to get up! Might save time over having to wall clip underwater + it might let you clip to the Blue Teleportal and through the Grapple Block instead of clipping through the Plasma shield
Haven't timed it or anything, can't even do it bcs I don't have access to legacy :p
Actually the underwater wall clip is the only viable way to get out from Screw right now. Even if you coyote to make your way up there there's no way to leave the water below the flipper without bombs. And if you go to Frozen Artaria you're also probably stuck? Well, I wasn't even able to go there since I died inside the missile cover lol.. normally we do it with speedboost which makes it a walk in the park but I haven't tested enough so it may be possible.
As for the blue TP clip, I think it's not possible with just grapple. My testing trying to clip through hard collisions is that all inputs lock down once Samus is completely OOB, unlike soft collisions. It makes the grapple beam retract immediately. Don't think anyone's been successful in clipping through even a 1-tile wall with just grapple.
If that were possible, we could do what you suggest and also reverse enter yellow TP which would be a decent shortcut to Dairon after this early Artaria cleanup.
Holy shit I take that back. I just managed to clip out of yellow tp LOL! Blue tp is a different layout but maybe it's possible.
My collection is full so I cannot clip it. I've never been more sad..
@@ArkandyHow did you do it? Did you do a follow-up video?
@@charliekelly735 I clipped with grapple beam but it's not really consistent. No video on that no :(
@@Arkandy That makes sense. I was wondering why my grapple beam instantly disappeared when clipping sometimes even when nowhere near walls. You can bypass with map buffer tho.
Wait could this be done in cp if only we could get grapple?
It's impossible. Even if you could find a way to get past the flipper with grapple it's not possible to go through the plasma covers without invincibility.
And the speedblocks for grapple beam... there's a chance you can walk past them with grapple without requiring invincibility. I haven't tried. But basically you need grapple to get grapple so it's not possible to acquire immediately after morph in current patch.
Samus clipping through walls reminds me so much of Mario doing a blj
I can see that with the older clip setups where samus grinds against the wall, lol
How did you set up the skew for this? Was it a separate file setup? It's been a while since I paid attention to Dread tech, but last I saw, bohumey skew needed the aim down clip setup...
Correct! I had to setup bomuhey skew in a different file and carry over to this one.
Ah ok, I wasn't sure if there was some new setup I hadn't seen before 😅 Thanks!
So many questions....
This is so fucked up lol
I wish I could run legacy so I could try this out lol
Anyone knows how to get to the green portal
If you're looking to backdoor green tp you could use bomuhey and mini tornado.
What a glitch
