      The politicians and elite don’t love their land and people. If you did that, you will work nonstop for the common man. In Pakistan, government is not about service and sacrifices. Almost all in ruling class think they are doing a service for the country by running the country. Fundamentally, the common man on the street has NO one to care for him at the state or federal level.

    All this is because of Jinnah. Nehru wanted to implement land reforms and did. Jinnah took advantage of this and made powerful alliance with Muslim Feudals(Hindu Feudals were screwed but Muslim Feudals went to Pakistan).
    Jinnah welcomed them and promised them their wealth will be respected. You won't find a single speech from Jinnah against Zamindars/Feudals.
    Pakistanis today are suffering because of this folly. You can thank Jinnah.

      I am from Pakistan . I agree with you Mr. Jinnah and his party All India Muslim League is established by Britain Empire to counter Indian Congress party .When the British Empire feel the India National Congress was out of their control and the Congress party demands British rullers to leave India and gives complete independence to Indian peoples but the All India Muslim league was supported British rullers and British rullers used All India Muslim League to weaken Congress party and shows the Indian Muslims were never supported Congress and never demand independence of India . The muslim league was the party of British loyals muslims majority of them were held the title of SIR from British rullers for their loyality. The All India Muslim league demands the separation of some part of India to gave a name of Pakistan with the support of British rullers. The British rullers fully cooperate with All India Muslim League to support for their demand of separation not independence Muslim League never demand of independence in its politicial history and always cooperate British rullers because the British empire needed a base camp against the rising power of Soviet Union and the new country was used to base camp against Soviet Union Rissia and its allies . The decision of divided India was taken in London Britian not in India and not for the demands of Ondia peoples. Thanks.

      Religion is a belief system. This belief system determines what beliefs are true and what is not. In any system there are winners and losers that emerge. In Islam everyone eventually loses. You are confusing the transient winners as the engineers of the system. The system evolves as a consequence of the axioms of the belief system. You confuse the tree leaves for the root.

    So Dar was cooking books what credibility does Dar has in front of IMF. I think lMF doesn't trust finance minister Dar.

    • @puggleski6097
      @puggleski6097 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dar wasnt the first or only one to cook books. That is the underlying reason of IMF's distrust. What IMF fears ( and what China, Russia, EU, Japan, Saudi Arabia fear ) is that what Dar promises will be torn up by the person who succeeds him. This is not without precedent in the history of populist politics. And in present market situation, where money supply is being starved, if the political elite get their hands on so much money, what is to stop them to divide the money up amongst themselves, flip the govt, and say that we will not honour these terms because they are inhuman ( basically, populist politics, using people as a shield ).
      And if they do that and get away with it, with the IMF, they will try to repeat with other lenders too.
      its not Dar. its Darr.

    Question - Why is Pakistan so desperate to avoid the default. Why can't they do a organised default like Argentina? Pakistani debt is huge and they will keep struggling, it is better to a default and start over. The key would be to avoid chaotic default like SriLanka.

    Brilliant and insightful.
    Would like to point out that lack of credibility started with Imran when program went of track THREE times.
    In Dec 2019, 2nd tranche wasn't approved (it is wrong to say pause was due to COVID since this predates COVID), April 2021 where PTI reneged on the agreement one day after receiving tranches 2,3,4,5 and also changed the finance minister and finally in Feb 2022 when barely a couple of weeks after receiving the 6th tranche PTI reneged and instead of increasing prices as per agreement, actually reduced prices.
    Disagree with Miftah's so called helplessness as FM. Manmohan Singh in 1991-96 period is said to have had a typed resignation letter in his pocket. He was clear that he wanted the role only if he was empowered. Very sad of course that as PM he did not show similar intellectual integrity and turned a blind eye to a lot of stuff simply so as to continue getting the power and prestige of being PM of India.
    Mind you in December 2017 when Miftah depreciated currency from 105 to 110 he said that rupee was absolutely correctly priced - something he knew was false. Eventually by the time he left in May 2018, he left it at 115 which was still highly overvalued. At that time SKA was PM and unlike Shehbaz Sharif had totally empowered Miftah. But he did not let rupee find its value. If coyrse correction had started in October 2017 when Miftah first became SAPM and then FM, the serious CAD situation of June end 2018 could have been averted.
    But he did not do that. Miftah may not be financially corrupt since he is independently wealthy. But he has been willing to not speak up, if that gave him the power and prestige of the FM post.
