  • This video shows the storage setup in my 2002 Jeep TJ. These jeeps are known for their terrible storage and this is my way of fixing it.

    Got a 2004 Rubicon myself. Looking for overlanding ideas for the TJ. Glad I found you.

    Really dig this setup. Being a dad I have a hard time with the idea of ditching the back seat, but if I do, I could totally see myself doing something like this.

      Thank you!! Yeah I feel that, it’s a great system! Definitely recommend having some sort of storage when the seat is out.

    I like it. One benefit you didn't mention, is you can lock the tailgate and the drawer is secure storage. Subscribed.

    Awesome box, ive been planning on building a custom box for my TJ. I've got the Garvin Expidition Rack for my Jeep, but I've noticed some minor issues with it, if you are planning on having a snorkel, make sure you accommodate for it when you build your roof rack. If you're interested in seeing what I've done I'll send some pics

    • @BuiltDifferentGarage
      @BuiltDifferentGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Ruthless Lord Humongous thank you! I’ve looked at the Garvin racks and I have always been interested in them but the price point is too high for me. I tend not to go in deep water so I’d have to really think about a snorkel. I know, Hauk Off-road has a snorkel that is installed through the cowl of the Jeep. Please send some pics, I need all the ideas I can get haha. I love seeing what other people have done. My Instagram is @_lucaskraft_

    Nice setup! Looks great. I'm thinking about doing something similar to mine eventually. Would be great if you did a rig walkaround vid, looks like you've got some pretty cool stuff going on.
    What tail lights are those? Do they have indicators?

    • @BuiltDifferentGarage
      @BuiltDifferentGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Burn thank you! Yes I’ll be doing a walk around very soon. I’ve been busy trying to get axles in it and once that is complete I will do the walk around! They are Max-Bilt Trail Tail LED Tail Lights. They do have indicators as well as reverse lights. I love them and wouldn’t want any other brand.

    Very cool TJ. I think every MB, CJ, YJ and TJ should have a Yeti bottle opener. I just put a metal license plate bottle opener on my TJ and it works well. But that Yeti is an upgrade I will do at some point.
    I'm sure those LED rear lights come in handy in MD. That state has some of the craziest drivers in the nation. Here in VA, it's the same issue with tailgating idiots. I might have to install those myself. Most don't realize, Jeeps aren't meant for speed, go around already.
    You mention Grant, that TJ was awesome too, can't believe he sold it and moved on to a Yota. But it's his decision. Anyway cool stuff.

      Not sure about others, but the door latches on a Jeep TJ work good for opening bottles. Just like they were made for it.

    • @JeepTJWheelin
      @JeepTJWheelin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dtallbaldguy Very true, saw a few people on the trail using them as a bottle opener a few years ago.

    • @BuiltDifferentGarage
      @BuiltDifferentGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do really like the bottle opener. I just don't use it as often as I thought haha. Once I am out camping more often then I know it will come in handy.
      MD drivers are crazy... I just got back from a trip in Boston and there were some pretty crazy drivers there as well.
      Grant has an awesome channel and I still continue to watch him. I loved his TJ, it was a great all around, all purpose Jeep.

    If only I dont have a 3rd passenger sometimes this storage would work.

    • @BuiltDifferentGarage
      @BuiltDifferentGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it’s a big commitment. The box really isn’t hard to pull out but I wouldn’t want to do it all the time. I’ve thought about creating a jump seat style third seat so that if I needed to I could have a seat back there and also have a smaller storage box. That would definitely be a great option.

    • @ujayet
      @ujayet 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuiltDifferentGarage oh that's definitely a great option.. there's a guy that did that on TH-cam where he put in a small 3rd seat many people have ask him encluding myself for him to sell the brackets he made but no luck.. I think maybe you should do another video building one without using any brackets but straight bolt on to the jeep lol that would be awesome.

    • @BuiltDifferentGarage
      @BuiltDifferentGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ujayet hmm that would be interesting. So instead of using brackets, bolt it down to the tub of the Jeep?

    • @ujayet
      @ujayet 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuiltDifferentGarage correct,, most of those seats have bolt holes already.. so it's just a matter of drilling new holes on the jeep and screw it in
      And using a riveting gun put screw hole in the new holes you just made in the jeep.

      @BuiltDifferentGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว
