    I'm glad you watched the Ultimate Edition and are going to watch the Synder Cut of Justice League. The theatrical version of both movies didn't do them justice especially with Justice League. With the Batman V Superman they cut out 30 minutes of footage which added a lot of context which messed up the pacing of the movie. As for Justice League they rewrote almost the entire movie. The full 4 hour Synder Cut version is an epic experience. It feels like a comic book coming to life and that's rare for most Superhero movies.

      the Ultimate Edition really does help to understand some of the characters' motivations and other things in BvS which I think inspired much of the criticism against this film.... but... at the same time.... if you just are a thinking reflective person all of those motivations are already clearly implied in the theatrical cut so the criticisms were always lazy and unfair anyway.

    So the deleted scenes from the theatrical cut were mostly scenes that explained Luthor's plan and explaining Superman's motivations for fighting Batman. Most of the IMAX 4:3 scenes were still in the theatrical cut just cropped to be the same as the rest of the film.
    The biggest reasons why people hated BvS back in 2016 was because 1) Batman's 'no kill' rule, (even though every cinematic Batman has killed except Clooney; Keaton killed Joker's goons at ACE chemicals and bombed Penguins goons, Bale's Batman let Ras Al Ghul, Harvey Dent and Talia Al Ghul die) as well as the fact that after losing Robin to Joker & 20-years of vigilantism, Batman has compromised his moral code, and the other major hang-up was 2) Batman befriending Superman so quickly after realizing their moms share the same name, Martha. The reason why they teamed up so quickly after that revelation is because Bruce's mother's name, Martha, triggered the PTSD he had from losing his parents, and Bruce realized if he killed Clark and took the life of Martha Kent's son, then Bruce would be no different than Joe Chill who took the life of Bruce Wayne's mother, Martha Wayne. Essentially Batman realized he became the very thing he swore his whole life to fight against, and that's why he befriended Superman so quickly.
    The apocalyptic nightmare that Bruce had was a vision of the future if Superman turned evil, which gets more set-up in Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021). When you get to that point of watching ZSJL just remember, "Lois Lane is the key" to save Superman from turning evil like that apocalyptic vision warned about (given as a result by the Flash's quantum time-travel abilities). There's a lot more to this story that Zack Snyder was building and hopefully we get JL sequels to finish the saga.

    • @atari303
      @atari303 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      If they do decide to continue and build on Snyder's story, I just hope they don't go with Bruce dying to save Lois and then Lois & Clark name their kid Bruce Kent. That is literally the stupidest thing to happen, and we've had a lot of stupid shit happen in superhero films lol

    • @nooneofconsequence1251
      @nooneofconsequence1251 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      yeah. For me it was so easy to understand all this stuff. Batman recoiled at the monster he had become. It wasn't just "oh hey, our mom's have the same name! neat!" like the idiots complaining about the film say... it was that Batman was trying to see Superman as not a person, but as an alien, and a threat. He had de-humanized him, and also dehumanized himself so that he could go through with this mission and neutralize the threat. But when Superman said Martha... this triggered Bruce's humanity because he immediately starts thinking about his own mother.... then he realizes it's Superman's mother that he's talking about not Bruce's... and this immediately destroys the image of him that Bruce had carefully constructed in his head: that of the faceless alien threat. The bomb that needs to be defused. And, in an instant, in that moment, Bruce for the first time sees Kal-El as not just a dangerous bomb that could go off and destroy the world, but as a person... with a mother... with people who love him... and Bruce sees what he has become and recoils from it. Of course he wants to try and make things right at that point, because under the rage and bitterness and callousness of decades, he's still got that moral compass and sense of justice. It's not that he hated Superman personally or something. I don't know why some people had such a hard time understanding stuff like this in the film; it was so well done. But I guess many people NEED to have everything spelled out for them in obvious and pedantic dialogue... this movie does what they always teach writers to do: show don't tell. But... some people need to be told.

      @@nooneofconsequence1251 you explained it well my thing is if an audience member were not a fan going into the movie they wouldn't understand all that and secondly it plays better if some of what you said was in Bruce's dialogue or perhaps a narration at the end of BVS 💯 non the less Affleck's rendition of The Dark Knight is superb and especially his fighting choreography. The thing I liked most about what you said was that Clark was an Alien and I feel in a real world scenario that would bring panic so much so ( that they could write an entire movie frome the people's perspective of what it's like having a real flying alien of unpredictability among us). Bruce acted accordingly, taking extreme precautions and even drastic measures while the rest of the world built around him was in my opinion out of sync. I noticed how they often referred to him as a god instead of alien also they weren't scared of him ( this alien creature who could fly, who's fast, who is powerful and whom they don't know on a personal level so they couldn't be too sure whether he had a moral compass or not.) The news Anker's talked about him with no fear of repercussions, even with all of the power he possessed, the court room demanded he attend with no fear as to what he might do if angered. Even though we as movie goers know that Superman was good it wasn't public knowledge what Clark's motives was after he and Zod messed up metropolis. I feel that the movie could've benefited greatly from this if society acted out more precautionary in the movie.

    • @gamingeagle19
      @gamingeagle19 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      very true. It's also partially because he saw Superman as purely an alien with his own moral compass, or lack thereof, and so saw him as a threat. Learning he did in fact have a mother completely challenged that belief.

The entire movie Batman looked at Superman as just an alien god who brought destruction on earth. He never once thought he could be someone’s son. I thought the movie was fine, but there were plenty of DC fans who felt otherwise. Oh sure, NOW that there was a Snyder cut of the Justice League movie, now it seems like everyone wants that Snyderverse, but there was plenty of hate going around for Snyder's movies prior to that.
      That being said, my interest in the DCEU has waned since this movie. There are several movies now that I still haven't seen because I never quite get around to watching them. the point of batman in this movie is that he has been batman for 20 years and has lost his way. so with things like the branding is a sort of indirect way of killing people, where prisoners see the bat brand on someone that must have done something bad enough for batman to brand him, they kill them

      @@thatfalcon See, none of those News Articles ever make the mention that any of those inmates with the brand have been killed. The only thing we see is that the brand “attracts violence”. Now that is definitely something that would a darker Batman would be fine with. Human Traffickers and Peadophiles with the Bat-Brand are of course going to get beatings. That’s fine. It is ONLY the direct Luthor orchestrated assassination of that specific inmate that we see. That is the ONLY killing of a Bat-Branded prisoner we are ever shown or given any hint towards. It is clear that Batman has turned much darker in this film. However, people keep making the mistake that he is directly attempting to kill people. He isn’t. He NEVER actually tries to kill anyone. He isn’t deliberately breaking his rule. He just doesn’t care anymore. If criminals get caught in the crossfire or they don’t move out the way of the Batmobile fast enough then that’s on them. The first REAL direct murder he attempts is Superman himself. That’s the point. And yes, people always bring up the Knightmare scene but they keep forgetting, it’s a KNIGHTMARE! At that point it’s just a terrible dream of what may come. And even if it’s a premonition of the future, it’s a future where everything and everyone has been broken and the fate of the entire Multiverse is on the brink. Even then, it’s a future that would have been rewritten and changed anyway.

Still believing DC rushed things and would be better off starting with solo movies (at least, with a solo Batfleck movie before BvS). However, this one still has everything a fan can enjoy, including a decent plot, character motivations, charismatic villain and an imposing atmosphere. Yep, I'm well aware Superman and Luthor are very different from their classic comic versions. However, Snyder's unorthodox, darker approach to them still deserves lots of respect.

    Yes, this Batman is very different from the ones presented onscreen before. This Batman is old, cynical, and exhausted. The Joker has killed Robin in this timeline, and Batman has grown increasingly violent and remorseless in that time. Now, with Superman having arrived on Earth, he's considered obsolete. All these factors have combined to produce a more brooding and disconnected Batman who's disregarded all his old rules after feeling they've failed him. He didn't expect to still be fighting crime as Batman 20 years later. He's re-assessed his methods, and now believes he'll never win his war on crime unless he becomes as brutal as the criminals he seeks to oppose. It's a very broken, hollow Bruce Wayne we're given in this film.

    Great video, Batmam in this is a 20 year vet of being Batman. Going through all the horrible things that come with being Batman. Loss of robin, other heroes. This Batman wasnt always a killer. He became war weary and clearly realized "criminals like weeds" so he adopted killing some of the criminals he fights. He doesn't kill everyone. Just those in his immediate way to be eliminated.
    However we see bruces motivations towards superman change. It wasnt until the "Martha scene" Lois showed Bruce that clark is more human and they are more alike than they thought. It humanized clark to Bruce. It wasnt just that their moms had the same name. But its a symbolic way to say they are almost like brothers, and made bruce see hes gone too far. He became what he always fought against. When he was holding the spear to clarks throat. He became like the mugger who killed bruces parents.
    Thats why it seems bruce had such a quick change of heart. He realized he fucked up. Hence like you said it was like a redemption are for bruce to save clarks mom. Not only to make up to Clark. Bur to redeem himself. Whem he couldn't save his own mother as a boy. So saving clarks mom to bruce was making 2 rights. 1 to clark and himself.
    By the end Bruce claims how he failed him in life. This is bruce showing he isn't going to be the murderess Batmam hes been. He has to be better. Like superman. Which means no more guns. At least on people anyways. But this Batman mainly now uses guns as a tool, last resort. Or if there in apocalypse world. Which in apocalypse world, Im cool with Batman using guns. He has to eliminate threats, defend himself and others in a war

      It’s because he realises in that moment that HE has become the villain of the story. The Gunman in the alley. He has become the thing he has fought against for 20 years. He has become the killer of his mother. The kryptonite spear is the gun and Superman is the younger Bruce. By killing him, he would be killing the last remaining part of his humanity. The only part of him that’s still a hero. That’s why Superman’s ultimate sacrifice means so much. When he restores Bruce’s faith in mankind. Despite the title, the real purpose of this film is to show that…in the end, Superman ends up saving Batman…from himself.

    Batman Vs superman is a deconstruction movie, it's shows how batman has lost his way,He believes that he has to kill people to save others, which started after the Joker killed robin, and also after so many years of being Batman and the never ending crime in Gotham, he has lost his way. Other small things that I love about the movie is 1)@15:33 the day of the dead scene, when superman rescues a child from a burning building, you see him surrounded by people with the day of the dead face paint, you can see that superman is a bit uncomfortable, because it reminds him of the scene where he was buried in skulls when he was talking to zod in man of steel.
    2) doomsday zod killed superman the same way zod killed jor-el in man of steel.
    3) Bruce wasn't training so he could beat superman, he was training so that he could be strong enough to be able to move around in the armoured suit.26:12
    4) you find clips of the end fight in man of steel and the starting scene in Bvs and see how it matches up perfectly. When zod lost control of the heat vision, he was in Wayne towers,the same building which Bruce was running towards.

    The hate this movie gets is literally criminal. If people put aside their expectations of spot-on comic book accuracy and yearnings of a feel-good movie, and replace it with appreciation of a story-driven epic, you will seriously see how great this movie is

    Only watch Zack Snyders Justice League. Do not watch the theatrical monstrosity that is the “Josstice” League

    Please watch the far superior legendary DCAU (DC Animated Universe) which is comprised of Batman the Animated Series, Superman the Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. They are some of the best superhero and animated content of all time and you really missing out.

    Damn dude, your back is better than alright! For the record, I’ve heard that Cavill is one of the few superhero actors this size who isn’t juicing, and it gives him a ridiculously aesthetic farmboy bod. Funny, almost like…that’s what he’s supposed to look like in the first place… 🤔

    I really like this movie. Honestly, for a movie called Batman vs Superman, i have to say Wonder Woman stole the show! 😅 I still think Wonder Woman and Zack Snyder's justice league r the best DC movies so far. I CAN'T WAIT FOR U TO WATCH WONDER WOMAN! My goosebumps get goosebumps everytime I watch it.
