I’m from the UK, and we have only just gotten Wendy’s back here after a 23 year absence and personally I prefer it to any of the fast food chains in the UK by far. I kind of agree that maybe there isn’t much seasoning, but in the UK we don’t tend to eat a lot of salt compared to the US, the beef itself in burger just tastes far far meatier than something from McDonald’s and Burger King tends to be really dry.

Yes, McDonald’s really does cook the Quarter Pounder meat patties when ordered and they are fresh , no frozen. A little bell rings when one is ordered letting the person at the grill know to put down a fresh patty.

I don’t know if it’s just my area, but there’s a local Shake Shack that has some of the most perfect burgers ever. Decent sized top and bottom buns that are never squished or wet, perfectly seasoned patties, crisp lettuce, and they even put salt and pepper on the tomatoes. They’ve never let me down. I will admit the fries at my shake shack are pretty inconsistent, they’re dry and flavorless sometimes but then moist and perfectly salted other times. But generally the burgers have always been a flawless, fantastic 12/10.
My local shake shack i used to work at had damn near perfect burgers for presentation and taste. Same ingredients and formation for an even bite and the patties were always seasoned to perfection by a majority of my coworkers. The fries on the other hand were quite inconsistent due to many reasons. Mainly because we were behind on orders most days so the fries that came straight from the fryer would sit on a hot surface for like 5 mins before we would be able to get them out. Other times, those fries were always crispy and I loved them with a side of cheese almost every break I got 😄
Yeah I thought Shake Shack were really good quality as well. My only complaint and the reason I won’t eat there a ton was that they are pricey. It was like sit down restaurant type prices for their food. 2 Burgers, frys and shakes for me and my gf was like $45 lol. I can get that same meal at Culver’s, which IMO is pretty darn close in quality, for like $15 less.
Wendy's actually has less beef waste because of the square patties. The production of round patties leaves a rim like stamping out biscuits from a sheet of dough. Wendy's can use more of that "beef sheet" because of the square patties
hey Nick huge fan! just wanted to say that as someone who used to work at McDonalds we do actually cook the quarter pounders fresh! why I always recommend it as the burger of choice. Considering the meat for big macs lay around for a bit
I had a shake shack burger a few weeks ago and will never go again- exactly what you said. There wasn’t any seasoning my burger was a mushy mess but I hear if you eat in it’s different experience- Culvers is my number one choice, rolling stoves 2nd( that’s only in our area), five guys 3rd, Wendy’s 4th and McD 5th-😁 I have a sonic right down the road and will give it a try-
Culver's burgers are damn good. My favorite is five guys! The only negative with five guys is bun gets soaked and falls apart. But over all taste damn good. Wendy's is probably my favorite fast food burger.
I used to work at Wendys and had to watch a whole bunch of videos. one of them talked about the history of wendys. the reasoning for the square patties is that they “don’t cut corners” which basically means that they want you to have the full burger with no cheats. also the wendys logo is actually based off the owner’s daughter or granddaughter named wendy
A couple of things, firstly the Wendy's burger has been square for a very long time. One of their adds in the early 80s was about how their burgers don't cut corners, thus the burgers are square (it also was an indication of better value compared to the competitors burgers. This may have been around or before the 'Where's the beef?' campaign. Secondly, I wish you had gotten Carl's Jr/Hardees and Rally's/Checkers in the mix as well. I'm curious how those two franchises would have fared. I think Hardees may have been a bit above BK and Rally's would have been at the very bottom. Too bad about DQ, though I don't think their burger would have been better than McDs.
As a McDonald’s worker about seasoning: I don’t know about other fast food places, but at McDonald’s we season the meat when the patties are cooked. There is a salt/pepper bland in a dispenser which puts equal amout of seasoning on each patty. Sad part, most of workers just press the dispenser randomly 2 times over 8 patties, not one load on each. Thats why many of McDonald’s burgers taste bland. Because of the lazy worker at the grill.
as a wendys employee its so funny to see people question the square patty! it's been part of the franchise forever. our motto is that we dont cut corners, hence why our patty isnt circular, it's square :)
Also as a Wendy’s employee I thought the same thing! Lol. Also, Wendy’s is supposed to put salt on the patties. Someone wasn’t doing their job at that Wendy’s 🤣
I feel like working at Five Guys you don't season your Burgers not because you're lazy because they give the people a chance to be creative with their own seasonings
In theory the metallic wrapper is supposed to hold the heat in better. I worked at Wendy's and Dave Thomas used it. As far as the square burger Dave was a 3rd degree Mason and he built his restraint on the square and compass rule of thumb. If you eat at Wendy's you will get a square deal. Most who know nothing about the Masons will not get this. The burgers are supposed to be as thick as your thumb and the veggies are supposed to be as thick as your index finger. Wendy's doesn't do that anymore after Dave passed away.
Aioli has mayonnaise in it, but it is not the same as mayonnaise. The foil wrappings helps maintain the temperature. It keeps the burger warmer for longer. Wendy's burgers has always been square.
5 guys is great when you eat it there, but when you order it to go it comes in a foil wrapper and gets soggy af. it really is a poor eating experience on the go.
@@paradigmshift7541 Im not sure what area you get five guys from but regardless, it is always wrapped in the foil. Some of the people I work with are a bit overkill and end up hurting the sandwich during the wrapping stage. One of the huge hurting points during the pandemic as places like these are ever more reliant on stressed teenagers as cooks.
So with the quarter pounder cooked to order thing, I believe it depends on the GM, at my location, it is of the utmost importance that we cook them fresh to order, and when I say that I’m not joking. We usually have one or two patties max thawing just so we can put them on the grill when we need, it takes just over a minute for the quarter to completely cook, so if you get pulled through for a quarter pounder (especially a double) just keep that in mind :)
At my Burger King, the employees are super friendly and you have a good feeling going inside it. It‘s sad to see that not everywhere the employees at burger king are friendly and happy.
I'm never going to burger King again after the employees didn't serve this woman in front of me in line(drive thru). I waited there for 15 minutes until she finally left, then they tried to take my order, but I just said bye. I don't know why they refused to serve that woman, but I have a feeling that it's because they knew her and they didn't like her, or something. I don't recommend burger King to anyone, horrible service. Burgers are unseasoned , but I guess the char/smoky flavor is good. Pretty bland burger and dry patty. Mc Donald's burgers are better.

NICK!!! I looked at Gordon Ramsay’s page and you are 10 million behind… BUT I BELIEVE IN YOU! I think you can 1,000% do it! I have so much confidence! Love ya!❤️❤️

You didn't need to comment the same thing 2 times... 😐 😐 You commented the same thing but changed a couple words.. 😐
Man you are so good. Your conversation doesn't bore me at all.
Way to go!
My shack shack can oversmash and overcook the beef patty far too often, making it dry, but otherwise it is the best burger around, I agree!
@@pac6010 that is the amount i paid for me and my partner with shakes too....its worth every penny as delicious😃😃
We got shake shack in Utah recently and I don’t understand the hype. It’s mediocre at best.
“Keep slanging those patty’s, cause there good”
😂
Wendy's actually has less beef waste because of the square patties. The production of round patties leaves a rim like stamping out biscuits from a sheet of dough. Wendy's can use more of that "beef sheet" because of the square patties
You could just make a new sheet from the scraps as long as you keep the meat fresh
Yeah but where would the waste end? You still have waist sheet after sheet after sheet after sheet after sheet after sheet!!!!
@@paulgiacovelli9754 yes, there would always be waste left if u stamp the burgers so I think it’s good that they leave the corners on
@@the_retag reforming the patties makes them tougher, compromising quality! & apparently they are square because “Wendy’s never cuts corners” 🤣
hey Nick huge fan! just wanted to say that as someone who used to work at McDonalds we do actually cook the quarter pounders fresh! why I always recommend it as the burger of choice. Considering the meat for big macs lay around for a bit
I work at a Wendy’s and we don’t cut the corners cause our slogan is “We don’t cut corners” as in for us not being lazy 🤣
There good but overpriced and not enough to get one full a five guys burger tho is what you should be getting to get a full stomach
@@Ricardorhino88 nah man u get everything on the burger and then eat some cajun ur full
@@clapz00theboss41 I do eat everything and I get myself a full single patty burger with fries it’s pretty dank just wont get me full
You just said your favorite was five guys.
Culver’s and whataburger is best
I used to work at Wendys and had to watch a whole bunch of videos. one of them talked about the history of wendys. the reasoning for the square patties is that they “don’t cut corners” which basically means that they want you to have the full burger with no cheats. also the wendys logo is actually based off the owner’s daughter or granddaughter named wendy
The reason why Wendy’s has square burger patties is because At Wendy’s they don’t cut corners ;)
Hehe noice
opening line of the training video 🤣
Lemme guess u live in vietnam
Underrated
Wendys nuts
Nick I love your videos and I just hope you make more every single day again I just love your videos❤
Unfortunately those aren't in this area. I used to live outside LA and had Carls Jr before-- not bad but I thought overpriced for what you got
Checkers has a decent burger reminds me of sonic
I’ve had both DQ’s and Carls Jr and I would say , there both rated higher then BK .
Del taco!!
Dq burgers are not even that good tho
Nick's general confusion and anxiety while ordering Sonic is me doing every task every single day lol
this man drove all the way to Stoughton just for some sonic, that deserves a like
O it was Stoughton not Danvers
Ik it was Stoughton I live near there I was like oh we’re is that I’ve seen it before
@@harryleventhal69 yeah lmao I go to that sonic all the time
As a McDonald’s worker about seasoning: I don’t know about other fast food places, but at McDonald’s we season the meat when the patties are cooked. There is a salt/pepper bland in a dispenser which puts equal amout of seasoning on each patty. Sad part, most of workers just press the dispenser randomly 2 times over 8 patties, not one load on each. Thats why many of McDonald’s burgers taste bland. Because of the lazy worker at the grill.
as a wendys employee its so funny to see people question the square patty! it's been part of the franchise forever. our motto is that we dont cut corners, hence why our patty isnt circular, it's square :)
they have been that way for 40+years.. ! maybe the public will take note......
But how in the world do you get it to be a square? A square mold? Cutting sides?
Also as a Wendy’s employee I thought the same thing! Lol. Also, Wendy’s is supposed to put salt on the patties. Someone wasn’t doing their job at that Wendy’s 🤣
@@Colorless_Tophat How do you get it to be a circle??? Beef doesnt just grow on trees in a circle, you just cut it differently from a cow.
@@ceoofsony5924 don’t you ever see people cooking patties? They shape the minced meat in a ball and press it down, which makes it a circle
"They're never fuckin' around at Burger king!" i want this on a tee shirt i will buy 4
Lmao, I work at a five guys hate to say it bud we don’t season our burgers at all
Lmaoo was gonna comment the same thing
I went to the grand opening of the local 5 guys here, and it was like eating a hockey puck
FIVE GUYS IN MY TOWN CLOSED.
I ONLY ATE THERE ONCE.
DIDN'T LIKE IT.

We roasting Five Guys now?
Cool, I’m in.
I feel like working at Five Guys you don't season your Burgers not because you're lazy because they give the people a chance to be creative with their own seasonings
Best wrapper
nick: gets a tesla just so he can speak fluent hand
Makes no sense
i really like how nick is genuine about how he feels about the food instead of pretending to hate it just because its fast food.

Lub lab😂😂😂😂
How hard nick tried to keep a straight face
It’s very common for sandwiches to be wrapped super tight to help everything come together. That’s one of the reasons 5 guys is so good.
5 guys is great when you eat it there, but when you order it to go it comes in a foil wrapper and gets soggy af. it really is a poor eating experience on the go.
@@paradigmshift7541 bruh then dont wait 5 hours to eat your "fast food" 🤣
@@imToniQX lmaooo, I’m saying thou right 😂
@@paradigmshift7541 I kinda like the squished bun
@@paradigmshift7541 Im not sure what area you get five guys from but regardless, it is always wrapped in the foil. Some of the people I work with are a bit overkill and end up hurting the sandwich during the wrapping stage. One of the huge hurting points during the pandemic as places like these are ever more reliant on stressed teenagers as cooks.
Gordon Ramsay: "Where's the lamb sauce?!!"
Nick: "Where's the seasoning?!!"
The Neposet car wash is great! Great feature!
The shape of Wendy's patties doesn't bother me; their lack of seasoning does.
wait till he realies wendy 8 years old
That's why I prefer their wraps
Yeah usually they oversauce to compensate for salt
I always thought Wendy's burgers were too salty....
@@Kai-cc9ct salt is seasoning, you can have some taste salty but still be bland
So with the quarter pounder cooked to order thing, I believe it depends on the GM, at my location, it is of the utmost importance that we cook them fresh to order, and when I say that I’m not joking. We usually have one or two patties max thawing just so we can put them on the grill when we need, it takes just over a minute for the quarter to completely cook, so if you get pulled through for a quarter pounder (especially a double) just keep that in mind :)
At my Burger King, the employees are super friendly and you have a good feeling going inside it. It‘s sad to see that not everywhere the employees at burger king are friendly and happy.
I think they get paid more
I'm never going to burger King again after the employees didn't serve this woman in front of me in line(drive thru).
The silver packaging is to keep the heat in and keep it warm, but that also keeps the humidity in and makes it soggier.
Nick: You gotta love a good set of buns
Me: You don't say
When they stack 2 pickles on top of each other

I grew up around sonic bro, I laughed the entire time while he was ordering

as a sonic employee it was funny to see his fascination with this😂
This guy puts so much effort into his videos big props
Yes sir Nick! Keep up the grind!
Good video, I tried Sonic for the first time about 6 months ago, cool place, nice people, weird after taste, never again. 5 Guys is the only place that makes a burger half as good as I can.
As a former Wendy's employee for 4 years. We do salt the patties just depends how much some places season them.
it what sucks about food places because the same restaurant couldve been good at one time because of that one employee. then he quits and gets replaced by a shitty employee and ruins the reputation of the restaurant
The dude said “welcome to sonic” like he hates his job 🤣🤣🤣
