    We do have more talented players on the USMNT than we did 20 years ago, but that doesn't mean we have the talent to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Spain, France, Argentina, etc. We still have to play pragmatically and show some grit. We can be more tactically complex, but we don't have "world class" players we have really good players that can play a supporting role on big name teams in Europe. None of our players that play in the top 5 leagues are the "star" of their team. You can still create a great team out of lesser parts, but it requires pragmatic, tactical coaching. It doesn't have to look pretty, just do whatever it takes to get a win.

    • @primer3458
      @primer3458 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Exactly. I’ve seen past USMNT with nobody in Europe play better than the team now. I think the USMNT federation thought they cracked the code by sending all these players to Europe but what they don’t realize is there’s way more to winning at the international level than just having a European line up.

Its a proven style in tournament football, especially for smaller nations that don’t have great quality in depth. He definitely won’t be playing out from the back with this team.

    We don't need a coach that is going to inspire the country for the world cup or one that's going to change the soccer "culture" of america. We need one that's going to win, plain and simple. WIN and punch above your weight, and the rest will follow.
    The story is already written and needs no other details. Amongst american soccer fans most don't really care about the men's team, the world certainly doesn't care about the US men's team, and general american sports fans abhor soccer as a whole. The only thing to do is win. Win despite everything and everyone is against you. A great story arch that will only be propelled through winning.

    I think that what the US national team lacks compared to countries with a rich football (soccer) history is that they don´t have an identity yet. You know how Germany, Spain, England, Brazil, Argentina, etc. play. They can even play with a different shirt and you would still know which team they are. It’s logical when you consider that the MLS is about 30 years old and the English and Argentine leagues are over 130 years old.

      Spurs had next to no money during his time there so that squad wasn't adequately freshened up, and they all got burnt out when they realised that they couldn't win as things were. Chelsea's ideal style of play was almost opposite to what Poch normally does so it's a miracle that he got 6th, League Cup final and FA Cup Semis with a squad who couldn't really play his way.

    Idk how Tyler Adams makes our core 4. He’s always injured and hasn’t progressed as a player in 3 years. Honestly Johnny Cardoso will probably take his spot. And if Wes can’t be more committed to his fitness he might out too. And lol regarding Tim Ream. He’s not making the 2024 World Cup. Our job in Poch’s first window is to find Chris Richard’s CB partner. Lalas continues with the lazy analysis that it’s getting embarrassing at this point

    None of these players are anywhere near the level of Pulisic. The rest are overrated. The gk position, which has always been a huge asset for the NT, has never been worse. Turner and Horbath couldn’t lace Guzan’s, Howard’s, keller’s, etc, boots. Weston is hit or miss every other game and Tyler adams is rarely fit and when he is fit does absolutely nothing…ever.
