He’s a very good coach with a decent record at club level esp with Southampton and Spurs who he took to the UCL final. He will need to adapt his style for tournament football and implement a more pragmatic style playing counter attacking football. The US doesn’t have the players to be playing out from the back. The first thing he needs to do is make them a lot tougher to break down.
This is different... but for most of our players this coach will be more what they're used to. They're *used* to playing for great managers. Now I truly believe we'll get the first real idea of how good we can be.
I’m sure most of his team will be picked from those playing in Europe and MLS players being mostly backups and squad members. You have to be playing regularly in a competitive league and ideally European competitions.
I don’t think his core first eleven will have too many MLS players tbf. He’ll want to pick from those playing in competitive leagues and a higher standard.
No one is thinking the US is ever going to win the wc. Success is relative and if he can get them to the last 16 or maybe even the qtrs if he gets a good draw he’ll have done well. Do you honestly think anything short of winning the wc is a failure considering you’ve never come even close to doing it as a CONCACAF nation? You have to be reslistic. And please don’t compare it to the womens game. They’re very different sports and most countries just don’t take the womens game anywhere as seriously as they do in the US. Most people don’t even know the names of any players.
Greece won the euros, with a stingy defense, great counter attacking football with some timely goals. Morrocco all the way to semis, Costa Rica to the quarters good enough to go semis. We can do better than quarters EVERYTHING goes perfect

Mauricio Pochettino is going to make the USMNT as the biggest club in Concacaf
True 🫡
It’ll be like he’s managing in the Championship when he plays in the Nations league.

@TheJimmyConrad Let's go center backs!
Am I missing something, have we seen the USMNT player pool, has anyone watched the MLS?

They still won't win the world cup so what's the big deal.
Only one team wins the World Cup lmao

What a silly argument. No manager alive can get the USMNT to a World Cup trophy. That's not the expectation.
