The NFL needs to start reevaluating contracts. You DO NOT pay ANY QB $50 mil per year UNLESS THEY ARE MAHOMES. Until they prove they can win the Super Bowl, you don't pay them. Even then, some of these players ARE NOT WORTH THAT MONEY. Let them walk if they want $60 mil per season. Let that be another organization's problem. Certain guys, like Purdy is a $20 mil per year guy. Just like a lot of those guys in that $50 mil plus per season range right now. And paying some of these WR's $20 mil plus IS WILD. That's NOT how you build a winning franchise. And by winning, talking Super Bowl. I don't care if you win 12 games a year, (Dak and Rodgers), YOU AREN'T WINNING WHEN IT MATTERS MOST. This is a TEAM GAME. Not a QB-WR game. That's why so many of these teams DO NOT have a chance when it comes to the playoffs. You're overpaying for the wrong players.
To prove your point the hottest QB wr combo is burrow chase and they're on a losing team. On the other hand the steelers pay neither and they're leading their division. You shouldn't pay players based on position but only value (not even talent as it doesn't always translate to value to the team). I don't think the niners would pay purdy as they already made the mistake to pay Jimmy. When you see all the contracts this off season and the way they've gone I don't see John lynch green lighting that contract
@nabotpowaa Agreed. Not saying to not pay Purdy, what I'm saying is pay him what his value is. Not "what the market dictates". Pay him the $20 mil, or let's move on. Burrow and Chase, Dak and Ceedee are proving that you need more around these players, OBVIOUSLY, to be a competitive team. You can't pay these players that kind of money because your team will be lacking elsewhere. And even Mahomes needs help, but he's proven he can do it with less. Now, we will see if the Tackle positions will hurt them in the Playoffs. That's why they lost that Super Bowl to Tampa. Injuries. But the LT and RT are struggling. So, we'll see, but Mahomes is the only one to prove he can get the job done at QB at that pay range. NO OTHER QB HAS PROVEN THAT. Not only that, NO OTHER GM HAS PROVEN TO BE CAPABLE OF PUTTING THAT KIND OF TEAM TOGETHER AROUND THE QB'S GETTING THOSE CONTRACTS. So, not the players faults. The blame is on the GM's and the league for being afraid to let certain players walk. But that just tells you how badly the league is as a collective in the personnel departments.
@biozio186 you're missing the point here. And there is a salary cap in the NFL, so yeah, they can literally say how much money they make for a living. If I was under a salary cap, same would be the case. But go ahead and pay Purdy $60 mil a season. You think 49ers are having a rough season now. Wait and see how bad that team gets if they give him that contract. You handicap your team when you do that. You don't have enough money to bring in enough quality pieces to compete for a championship. Simple man. There's only so much money to go around in the NFL with the cap.
@tylermartin7136 You're not wrong with your general sentiment but your numbers are WAY off. 20 for Purdy? Jarrett stidham made 10 last year. There's not paying insane amounts for quarterbacks and then there is what you are proposing, which is stupid. Purdy played for less than a million and took the 49ers to an NFC championship and a super bowl. And you can try to judge him only by this year, but this year is LESS than what he'd have due to injuries. Also, the 49ers are way better at manipulating their cap space than a lot of organizations. They are already making the moves they have to, and it's more likely to involve letting go of aging veterans than shitcanning purdy.
Purdy looked flawed. Pearsall had beaten his defender late, and had Purdy led him, would have scored. Then he overthrew his receiver destroying a drive and ending the game on a pick 6. Not impressed.
I completely agree guys and Bill is definitely going to bolt for an NFL job in the near future. Sorry North Carolina it's a heartfelt lovely story until it isn't
They had tape on his last year too and he came off a serious injury and went to the Super Bowl. This year was riddled with injuries and players losing babies. It just wasn’t the 49ers year.
Had a tough time against them riddled with injuries before the rookies had time week 1. Only beat them in the playoffs last year because the refs blew a DPI call. I don't think Detroit wants to see them. I am sure they would rather AZ, SEA, or SF float in.
@bojangles11111 I think the Lions will figure it out before they have to face them so I do believe that they can beat the Rams going to be close like last time but they'll beat the Rams
@@Kuhhmollythe rams team that lost to the packers and bears is not the team you see now. That rams team had a decimated oline and was without Puka and Kupp. Now with everybody back, they can beat just about anybody.

Rams when healthy can compete with any team.
Not named lions eagles chiefs
@@cillyprodd took the lions to OT first week of the season btw
If Purdy had been taken in the first round this wouldn't be a discussion.

I don’t think the eagles fear the rams, I think the rams fear them more because that was a straight beat down and they beat the rams last year too
Don’t have to fear them but you better have respect for them if you don’t plan on being surprised.
If I'm Brock's agent I'm not asking for the top of the line contract I'm asking for a reasonable contract
Then you’d never be his agent 😂
Everybody needs to apologize to Cam “because he was the first to say that Purdy ISNT a franchise quarterback
