91Tech They did change a lot with the iPhone 7. We got stereo speakers, water resistance, ois on the 4.7” size, better tactic engine, dual camera (plus model), portrait mode (plus version) & the design did change. As for the iPhone X, I wouldn’t really call a bezelless screen innovation, it’s cool but it’s only vanity. The iPhone X should really be considered as the iPhone 8 deluxe (the fancy iPhone 8) but the iPhone 8 still did change a lot from the 7, wireless charging, True Tone Display, etc.
But that’s just my opinion
I’m sorry but how you said iOS 9 made the 4S go into obsolescence but iOS 7 didn’t make the 4 go into obsolescence I literally do not understand... In my personal experience, the iPhone 4 on iOS 7 performs more poorly than the 4S on iOS 9.

When it comes to the 5C, you have to keep in mind that this was when smartphones were becoming extremely desirable and mainstream for younger people, and at the time, iPhones were pretty expensive. The 5C was an entrypoint into the Apple ecosystem, for a substantially lower price than their other phones at the time. It was a good move, and being made of plastic, while not feeling as good in the hand, you must admit is more durable in the hands of a 10-15 year old who had just gotten their first phone.
I have always been an Android guy, but a majority of the people I knew at the time that got an iPhone, got a 5C because of it's price, and of course, being on their parents cellular plan.
No it was a terrible move because it was only $100 cheaper and was barely any cheaper in countries it was made for than the 5S plus you had it was much worse and was 4/4S quality in terms of its internals, not to mention it released alongside the greatest iPhone ever the 5S.
Apple literally swapped the premium metal of the 5 for plastic, called it 5c and sold it at the same price of a last year’s iPhone

If not for the 5c, you could have got the 5 for the same money with its premium metal build
Think of what you missed because of the 5c for the same cost
A metallic built iPhone, instead you got a cheaper built phone for the same price

The one iPhone I never ever see and honestly have a hard time finding is the base model iPhone 5.
I bought a 64GB one back in 2013. I used it till 2015 then upgraded to a 6s Plus. My wife used the iPhone 5 for another 2 years before she got an SE upgrade, and the iPhone 5 went to her relatives in Russia. It’s still working, having received a brand new battery before it was sent to Russia, in 2017.

iPhone 3G for sure. iPhone OS 2 was almost unusable on launch and the back plastic often suffered from cracking. As someone that worked at Apple for a few years starting in 2008, the iPhone 3G was frustrating to give tech support for because even fresh OS installs were slow. In rare instances where the customer’s phone had enough problems that we were given the pass to provide them with a 3GS replacement, I was always so happy for the customer.

When you upgraded it to the last version of iOS that it supported, it is worse than iPhone 2g on its last version, even the iPhone 4S on iOS 9.3.5. The last “good” version of iOS for it is either iPhoneOS 3.1.3 or iOS 4.1, if you can deal with a kinda slow phone

I'm using a 5SE (2016) right now and it's still a great phone to me. Yes, since this video there have been new iPhones come out, but I have no logical reason to move up. I like the size (compared to larger phones I've owned) and it is still updating. I figure I'll get at least another year or two out of it before I "need" something better.

As of October 2020, I'm still using my iPhone 5C for Internet-only home Wifi, when my iPhone 7 Plus is charging. Amazingly I retained the original packaging too

I loved my 5C. Way more comfortable than the square edged 5S/SE. Every iphone since has increased in size. Not interested. If you upgrade, I recommend the SE. Still small and pretty powerful.

@@botdaka. The SE2 that is supposedly "in the works" is going to be the same size as the iPhone 8. I sure as hell know that I don't want a phone that size, so there is no point in waiting. The SE is incredibly affordable and has good performance. Once apple brings back a smaller phone I'll jump all over it, but until they pull their heads out of their asses, I'll keep the "old" stuff.

The iPhone 6s and the iPhone 8 both had absolutely horrendous battery life. Everyone that I’ve spoke to have all said the 2 phones constantly suffered with crashing and poor battery life. I even had to take my brand new iPhone 8 back to the store as 3 days after purchasing it crashed and wouldn’t turn off or do anything. Even the next day it was still stuck on the same screen.

I’ve always sold every iPhone I’ve ever had as I like to sell before they depreciate and put that money towards an upgrade ACCEPT for the 5S, I loved it so much I kept it even when I continued to upgrade because it’s the only model that’s never given me any issues! So I keep it as a backup.

The iPhone 5 for me was the best one I had. At least back then.
It was so sleek and usable.
I stopped using it when I was permanently locked out. My passcode stopped working. And it got to the point it was FOREVER locked.

In high school I had a Nokia flip phone, then I got the iPhone 4S right before I started college. Then I got the 6 at launch, 7 at launch, XS at launch and right now I’m waiting for my 12pro to arrive!
The 5c was my first iPhone, and it was good for a year but I was later given the 5s and I had that iPhone till the 7 came out and upgraded to the 7 plus! And then I upgraded to the XS Max Pro and recently upgraded to the 12 Pro Max!

5C was never meant to do well, the 5S was the main model and the C was just to target the consumer that buys the previous years model for cheaper over the new model and was Apple saving money on the build quality in that area ( + was the original attempt at the SE in creating a cheaper but still new device)
iPhone 7 is the worst one IMO.
iPhone 7 is barely an upgrade over the 6s, but has the massive disadvantage of not having a headphone jack. Plus, both the iPhone 6s and 7 lost software support at the same time, which means both the 6s and 7 were functionally the same. The incremental upgrades of the 7 were basically useless if they didn’t get more software support.
Basically, the 6s and 7 are almost identical, except the 7 lacks a very important port and got less years of software support. If you don’t mind the lack of a headphone jack, then the 8 is literally superior in every way.

You can't judge a phone based off its OS like the old IOS devices. The 4s is a great device, apple slowing it down has nothing to do with the actual phone.

I'm using iPhone 6 for almost 6 years now without any problems. I replaced the battery two years ago. No touch disease, no bending (although in a case). Time to upgrade to 12 this year.
Here’s my iPhone journey! First one: i 4S in mid 2014 (the basic 8GB one), and until current, i 6S+ in Oct 2015 and still serving me well. Who knows, one day an i 12PrMx might be on the cards, but that might take time (or another waiting game as we’ve gotten used to), or by the luck of the saving strategy during the lockdown.
The iPhone 6 is the best in my opinion

I’ve owned the iPhone 4s, 6s and 8 plus and I currently use the 8 plus. However, I still to this day use the 6s as a secondary internet machine and it still holds up and runs very smooth and hasn’t bent nor cracked. It’s truly how you take care of your devices is how they will take care of you.

I went from a 4s to a 6s
As you might imagine, it felt amazing.
My last iPhone was an iPhone 7, it was a lot of fun, but the lack of headphone jack, oh I'm sorry, the abundance of courage was a bit meh. My big problem is that there were jailbreaks coming out for other things but the iPhone 7, it's like everybody just had trouble with it. I remember, god, which jailbreak was it, it was one of the first semi-untheathered iOS 10 jailbreaks, that's what I used on it.
Super unstable, and for some reason when using it my camera wouldn't record audio with video. But I didn't care cause I had dark mode and all that.
iOS 10 is probably my favorite version of iOS. But eventually I had had enough and moved to a Pixel 2
Haven't looked back to iOS since then.
People don't remember some of the basic flip phones of the early 2000s also had a $1000 price tag, which is crazy high when adjusted for inflation

iPhone 7 in my opinion is the best. It's lighter than the new iPhones, it has the same features as the new iPhones, in my opinion the design is the best, and it's hella cheaper than the new iphones.

I had a little nokia with changeable plates that I thought was the coolest. Then my dad bought the first iPhone while overseas but eventually gave it to me because he preferred the blackberry. The iPhone didn't even come out where I lived until the 3G. I had them until the 6 plus

The 7 was a really bad incremental "upgrade" that ended up removing features that didn't compensate the slightly better features. To me, it was the worst bc it proved how greedy Apple is.

The iPhone 4S is slow on iOS 9 but that does not make it one of the worst iPhones! The 4s is Apple's first dual core processor phone, it introduced Siri, it fixed the problems of the iPhone 4, it is not one of the worst iPhones!

It was my mom’s old phone, she had to upgrade to the 8+ after the update when the battery life just suddenly went down. The 4s got slower and slower and she didn’t want to upgrade unless necessary. It’s kinda sad, how Apple slows down the older phones. But I agree, it was a great iPhone.

I've had my iPhone 6 since 2014 and haven't had a single issue with it. Feels unecessary to upgrade when Im not having any issues with it.

Samuel_bo I had 100% at 6:00am today and now at 16:49pm i have around 25% left. Ive listened to music atleast half of the time, and seen a few youtube vids too. So i’d say its pretty good for its age.
I only changed 6 to X couple of days ago and that was because the charging dock wasn't charging and the cost to repair was more than what they gave for trade-in.

The 7 was a mess, headphone jack removed for... no reason, and was perpetually failing, mine replaced twice, jet black was hilariously slick so much so it would slide off a table... a flat table.
I still don’t get why losing the headphone jack “had to happen eventually”.
Jay B honestly. In my opinion it’s was such a stupid idea, they said on their keynote “old technology” yet they didn’t show anything innovative to replace it. Each time they are only caring about making more profit. iPhones stopped being good with the 5s. Only thing keeping them alive is their software ecosystem, iOS, macOS, WatchOS etc.
