Good list, I might have also included the Sony Xperia Play. They never released sales numbers but it definitely flopped compared with the hype. Also they stopped updating it within a year and barely sold any games, so probably a big loss for company.

Yeah, tying WP directly to universal apps just failed when universal apps died out. If they had instead built it around android dev compatibility, it might have had a chance, but frankly it's damn hard to break into a 2 party monopoly weirdly late. The iPhone 5 was discontinued by Apple but it was still being sell by every network company like Verizon, att, spring etc. At the same price as the 5C. So the price of the iPhone 5c was to expensive for a plastic phone at the time. The biggest issue with them, that he covered in this video, was app support. That's at least 50% of the reason that your average consumer buys a certain brand of phone, the other being price.
I think a lot of people looking for something new didn't consider this until after and without support of the average joe you don't have a mass market product. No matter how good it is otherwise.

Such a shame the Windows Phone flopped. Been using Windows Mobile back when most people didn’t know what a “smart phone” or “PDA” was.
I got mixed feelings when Microsoft decided to shift to “Windows Phone” when it became apparent that Windows Mobile was becoming irrelevant. But when I tried it, I was impressed. Way much better experience than Android at that time.

The thing that got me though was the little to no app support outside of Microsoft developed ones. Having to go through a separate, less functional 3rd party app or just the website itself in order to watch TH-cam was a drag, and when you know for a fact that a cool new app wasn’t coming to your phone it was disappointing. Great phones, but the support just wasn’t there.
