As I am watching this video, I am drinking my second glass of homemade eggnog. We do it slightly different, heat cream mix to almost boiling and slowly wisk it into egg mixture. Added dark rum at the end.
Regarding the proofy rum de-naturing the eggs if added in the wrong order, I can testify that I recently cracked an egg straight into 55%abv rum and the egg whites cooked IMMEDIATELY
Yeah not wanting to waste rum to try it, but the blender might prevent some of the cooking since it’s mixing the white and the yolk first. But still, not gonna test it.
You can pasteurize your cream and egg base to help kill the bacteria first. Find an egg nog recipe with that step and follow everything else as per Derek’s (or any raw egg eggnog).
Homemade eggnog is so much better than the crap at the store! I made Kevin Kos's banana nog last year and it was a hit👍 Might have to give this one a shot this year. 🎄🎁
I’ve had a lot of success with my vermouth and sherry in the fridge. 6+ months easily But Morgenthalers recipes call for even more sherry and he keeps batches for several years
Hey Derek, quick question, I kind of havea fate memory that you already uploaded this? In case this is a re-upload the ingredients list is missing... but then TH-cam started translating titles and descriptions into my mothertoung "german" so it could be also because of that...
@@makeanddrink thank you! So it is a stupid TH-cam thing and the recipe is swallowed by the auto translation that I can't turn off (TH-cam on my phone shows everything nice and clean). Really like your videos and the effort! Thank you for sharing
I do not. But since it calls for eggs and whole eggs I’d just divide by that. Divide all ingredients by 6 to use 1 egg (will equal 1/6 total recipe), divide by 2 to half the recipe and use just 3 eggs, etc.
What blender do you use / recommend for low speed blending like this? Or, alternatively: can I just whisk everything together in a big bowl? (I don't own a blender currently.)
Love that shirt! Do you have any info on it?
Was just about to make a rum-subbed morganthaler recipe. Thanks for doing the hard work for me! Can’t wait to try it
More sherry will get you closer to his style recipes. Best of luck!

Will definitely be trying out this recipe for Christmas this year
I’m so glad you released this video
Ok, when is the vanilla ice cream episode coming?
It sounds amazing
Looks fantastic! Gonna make this for a party next week.

I think you could tiki-ize it by adding a bit of Planteray's new Cut & Dry. Not too much, just a little coconut flavor.
Love the shirt!
I see the Make and Drink Legal department is out in full force on this vid! 😁😁
Will make ASAP, adding sherry is a great idea. Gonna add a little salt

Great specs and easy to make in a blender! Will be playing with this for sure.
Will we get a slushi version please?
Tune into Make and Drink Frozen tomorrow
Sounds great. I had better get it made now so it can relax and age a little
This is a lot of how I made my eggnog the last few years minus the sherry. I'll have to give that a whirl.
Made it last year and it was a big hit, so made a double batch last weekend that has been aging ever since 🙂
I already picked up a couple bottles of nog from Trader Joe's this year, but I will definitely be making this next year!
How would Licorice 43 work for this?
Looks great. Just be aware that like vermouth, sherry goes bad even in the fridge. Quicker than vermouth. Maybe 2 months? It’s disappointing.

Do you think Hamilton 151 is a good alternative to oftd?
this should be bomb as frozen!
Stay tuned
You are a scientist

It's an slight update to a TH-cam short I made last year. The full recipe is in the episode description

Hello, do you have the measurements for just one or two drinks? Does it worth to make so much?
I do not. But since it calls for eggs and whole eggs I’d just divide by that. Divide all ingredients by 6 to use 1 egg (will equal 1/6 total recipe), divide by 2 to half the recipe and use just 3 eggs, etc.

You can whisk, use an immersion blender, or even a stand mixer. Blender is just easier and faster. This is a Vitamix from Costco
