Hi everyone! We are both still recovering from the flu and hope to be back to work again very soon! Carlos will prepare the log cabin patchwork technique so we can make a tutorial soon. And yes, lazy daisy in English is Mille-fleur in French, same stitch, two different names. We like to think that whatever it’s called, it makes a lovely decoration on a patchwork square! Keep in mind that English is not our main language, as we are from Norway, and we also have a very large audience of viewers outside of the USA/UK to speak to who also don’t have English as their main language, so we prefer to keep our words a little bit more “international” here on our channel 😉. We wish you a nice week and we look forward to a live stream coming soon! Arne
ARNE & CARLOS Hope you will recover soon and feeling better. I am waiting for the live stream looking forward to it and the tutorial as well. Have a nice day. Ni är så fina. Thanks
Thank you Arne and Carlos. Hope you both feel better very soon. Looking forward to the Log Cabin video and "Live Stream". Carlos Thank you for speaking so clearly and your pronunciation of your English is very good. I have hearing impairment, so the way you speak is very good for me. Even though Arne's voice is quieter, I love hearing you speak your Norwegian language Arne, you are so funny. Please do not change the way you both are. Love you both. Thank you :-) :)
I'm sorry to hear that you both have been ill. Please know that when I expressed my thought that the stitch was lazy daisy, it was meant as a question, definitely not criticizum. American English is my first language. I've learned a great deal from you both.
The thing that I like best about you two is the way you enjoy the process. So many publications talk about short cuts and how to do everything quickly. To me, that misses the whole point of why we create. You two share the joy of making things by hand using the beautiful materials you've gathered over the years. You inspire me - not to do exactly what you do - but to create my own work.
Your videos are little gems. They sparkle and bring joy to me. Try to take it easy whilst you recover from the flu. Only do things that are absolutely necessary, and that are restful and relaxing. I'm not going to comment on 'mille-fleur', but instead on 'by eye'. Arne seemed a little unsure about the correct phrase. I'm a native speaker of English, and would use 'doing it by eye' and also 'measuring by eye'. Arne, your use of the phrases was totally correct.
Hi there boys! I now have an Arne & Carlos workbasket!! Let's see, there's a crazy patchwork pillow in progress, a knitted pillow, the X & O hat, 2 mice in different stages of finish, a pair of socks and 2 dish towels and 2 pillow cases that I am adding touches of a pansy cross stitch band. HA...what fun, I see that after today, I will be adding embroidered accents to my crazy patchwork pillow. This has added such an element of joy to my handwork because it is very reminiscent of visiting my elderly aunt when I was young when she would eave me in peace to minutely inspect each project. I vividly remember her giving me a guided tour of her house and her describing how old she was when she started and completed each item. Just like when you do the same...this is your life's handwork.
Log cabin was my first quilt I made I have most of my quilts on fb Sense I can’t share here but love The Victorian quilt. All was wanted to make one. But have to collect my collection of fabric. First do like the Tips on this just finished quilting a quilt. Now I have to bind it and it will be done just love all of the Beautiful fabrics you have. 🥰
Carlos, you are looking so handsome in red! Please, more and if possible a litlle longer close-ups of the process next time. But is also nice to watch you both in the "totale", do not take it wrong, please. Good and steady health for you both.thank you for the lovely epidose.
You two are multi-media specialists. You enjoy using more than one or two media and techniques in a project. Knitting, crochet, quilting, embroidery, beading, lacework- it’s all in there.
Who knew Elementary and Junior school Home Economics!; yes, Elementary School (no longer basic curriculum in the USA and very unfortunate), would present itself right before me 52 years later. Thank you, for the inspiration, gentlemen. I am enjoying your channel.
You can tell that you are designers because of what fabrics you use and how you put them together on the quilt blocks, AND by what designs you use to embellish. That's what makes your quilts so lovely. I try to create something as beautiful and it is not. BUT I try to use your videos as inspiration, not for comparison. I keep doing "my thing", trying to create a pleasing style that I can call my own. I do like how you keep reminding us that joy is the object all our creativity, not perfection. I knitted my first hat and it's not perfect, but I thoroughly enjoyed making it and delight in wearing it.
I could watch you 2 and listen to your voices all day. Just sublime. And you enthuse me. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge, and love of fabrics and yarns 🤗
haha FLOWER.. .. aww I laughed.. sorry I just lost my big brother 😢😔😔.. but I finally laughed.. thank u Arne n Carlos.. just love the work ur doing, very cool beautiful flowers 💐.. I also recently decided to learn embroidery.. is this similar to it hmm.. and yes lessons in language.. much much love from Texas.. 💕💕
Please do share the skirt..... Both Dior and Lauren had them in their collections and I fell in love with them. I think it will be a wonderful long and warm skirt for a Canadian winter ❤️. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
I don't enjoy sewing and never find it relaxing. Won't be using the lesson in this tutorial, but I enjoyed watching it and have respect for all of you who can work on sewing projects like this. Knitting is definitely my thing.
Aloha from Hawaii, started watching your channel, love it. I am a quilter for my enjoyment time, still work full time, wife of 46 yrs, mother of 4 grown girls who all live in the states and my eight grand-babies. Love your beautiful country, Mahalo
Arne, I don’t know what it is about they way you say hello, but I always love and look forward to hearing you say hello. It is a single word that sounds so happy and joyful. So, I say in return to you, hello. :) I love that black and white log cabin piece you guys have made. It’s simply gorgeous! Please, in the future, when either of you guys are doing some stitches (regardless of what kind), can you have more overhead or closeup shots, please? It’s so amazing to watch what you’re doing, whether, knitting, crocheting, or embroidery, or embellishing, or...am I forgetting something lol?
Thank you for confirming yarn work and sewing are relaxing. No one seems to understand how relaxing it is to sit and work with yarn and textiles: although I've tried to explain why I find it a great way to de-stress after a long hard day.
You are both amazing whatever you put your hands to, the UFO is pretty stunning, I did think the sewing at the seams was machine done, shame on me I should've known better 😬 Love how you have also highlighted fabric designs with gold chain stitch, My head is bursting (in a good way) a million fiori thanks 💖 Have a great week Arne & Carlos
Glad you are both healthy again. Love the patchwork quilt, you both look so relaxed. I did one years ago and gave it away, . After watching your patchwork videos I'll be going through my sewing buckets tomorrow. Lots of nice fabric pieces, beads, threads in different weights, lace and probably a dust bunny as well. Oh yay, gonna get out the sewing machine. XXOO
Thank you for the stitch work tutorial - very peaceful to watch. I hope you are both well and vibrant again very soon! And I would love to see that patchwork skirt again! and more on the construction. I look forward to your Sunday videos. I seem to be able to remember what you teach and show in your videos - you both are natural teachers. Also - a little off subject but I will be moving to a new house within a couple of months with my daughter and son-in-law and we would love to learn to garden with a few simple veggies and flowers. And how to improve the soil - perhaps also container gardening? Would you consider doing videos on starting a garden?? Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us.
Modern quilting sewing machines bring “convenience” in our fast-paced world. Everything seems to move so quickly. With the touch of a button, the machine needle can zip quickly across the fabric with a perfect row of daisies. And yet, something is missing for me in that process. Thank you, Arne, for reminding me to slow down today and take time to find the joy and calmness in simply putting needle and thread to something beautiful. You both continue to bring peace to my days.
I'm so relaxed now, I think I'll take a nap. Lol. You two are marvelous and so inspiring. I need to finish my quilt, my socks, my pillow top, my shawl... no naps for me. Thank you for another lovely podcast. Mil abrazos.
Thanks for another fantastic video for Sunday Funday! Its so enjoyable to watch folks crafting when they love it so much. The happiness exudes into the atmosphere and one can't help but feel the intoxication. What a glorious feeling! ❤️ The squares are gorgeous, and I love the way you guys put the 'pieces' together. Thanks for sharing with us. Please give Freja some love on our behalf. 🐶💕
Hello Arne & Carlos! While I can’t machine sew to save my life, I do love to embroider. I’m predominantly a knitter, and gardener, but I truly enjoy your patchwork videos. I cannot imagine either of you just sticking to one craft! You’re both inspirations to me! ❤️
This video is great. I´m so glad, that i discoverd just your canal. Watching you sewing is nearly so joyful as self sewing. Say: thosends of flowers ;-) During the day we do planed work and in the evening, already tired, watching tv we do unplaned stuff. We take time to sew - the greatest thing in the world.
I have made several quilts too. Log cabin, as well, in autumn colors, so it’s hanging on a wall during that season (to keep the cold from the wall away, semi old house, poorly isolated). One of my favorite quilts I made two of is a Danish Hearts Christmas quilt. The reason I’m fussy about my backing stitch is because I do the stitching, the actual quilting, to stitch the three layers (sandwich) together, so you do see the stitches on the back. I do both machine quilting and hand quilting, latter being easier, but very time consuming. Made a beautiful Christmas quilt with stars, hand quilted it, and when I washed it, it turned pink 😭 I DID wash the fabric in cold water with vinegar before using it. It’s still beautiful, and the pink has faded a little bit. Got a couple of UFO quilts to make. And so many ideas for other quilts, but one also wants to knit and crochet, and cross stitch, and, and... the days are too short! 😁 Your stitch work is amazing!
I love watching both of you . Please do some more crazy quilt squares I. I like hearing about your fabrics. Love your lay back personalitys.Very relaxing way to learn. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
I have a tablecloth that my grandmother embroidered in the 1950's and I'm thinking of making it into a whole cloth quilt. You are so fun to watch. So inspiring.
You guys are so entertaining! I already know how to do most of these things but I love to watch you do it. I do need the instruction in doing embrodiery though. Amazing how lovely those little flowers turn out.
Thank you for the videos. Your blocks are beautiful. I would not have thought about overlaying over a piece of the block. Very original. It adds the the block so much.
I’ve allways wanted to knit ! But it seems so complex lol maybe I can learn something from you ! Can’t wait to see how you fill this in ! I love sewing ! Patchwork but I’ve been more into garments as well ! But this I am impressed ! Your both very talented ! Ty again for sharing !
I really love you both, and how you do all kind of craft. I used to think that it's better to master one kind than be jack of all trades, but I really love to try all kind of crafting (and already did). Now you show me that it's okay to make all those pretty things as long as we enjoy it and makes us happy. So I think it's time for me to learn patchwork.
Making lovely things from scraps is the best idea and always looks unique. I especially like the embroidery work. It adds so much. Thanks fellas for your time and your fun chat.
Love the log cabin block. Yes please would love to see a tutorial on how you do it. Your ideas on usage of various laces are great. My head is spinning with lots of ways to incorporate the lace in some of my needlework projects. Thanks for sharing. (Pauline S)
Hi both, I was amazed to discover that your embroidery is hand stitched. I was expecting to see you put the patchwork under the foot of your lovely Bernina machine as the stitches look so even on your log cabin sample. This type of work has so many layers to it and the finished product is stunning. You must get the black and white cushion finished to add to your beautiful collection of cushions. XAngela
Hope you are both feeling better! I love this video about embellishing patchwork items, the black & gray piece is stunning. So many things to make! And keep teaching us Norweigen!
Carlos, thanks for your reply. Memory is such an interesting subject. I thought I remembered seeing you in some videos with your hair combed straight back. My mistake. I always enjoy all your videos.
Very nice branch and flower design. lazy Daisy stitch for flower and the branch stitch is interesting I will have to try it on a project. BrambleKnits 🇨🇦
Thank you for all your videos and sharing your lives with us. Hello to Freya! Speaking of embroidery...... Would you share with us your knowledge of Hardanger embroidery? I'm glad to see you have new scissors. If you can't see it from a galloping horse then it's fine.
I love spending part of my Sunday with you both ! I call that a "lazy daisy " stitch and you "eyeball" something or as you said " do it by eye " . I've always put French Knots in the middle of my flower but I'm going to use beads now after seeing how pretty they look. I also quilt and the Log Cabin is a favorite for me because it's easy and works up pretty quickly. Hand work is so restful and satisfying , it doesn't matter which craft I do it is a sense of accomplishment when I'm done. Thank you so much for your inspiration ! Oh, and kudos Arne for using metallic thread, that is not easy to work with ! Enjoy your week...
Nice job! You are reminding me of the embroidery stitches my grandmother taught me in Colombia when I was little. This will add a new dimension to my quilts. Thank you, María Lucía 🌷🕊🧵
The first few stitches where you make the flower were the stitches my mother taught me to sew hems. It always looked so much neater. As always another wonderful video, no matter what you two work on it’s always educational, entertaining and fun. Working together is always much more fun, at our home I knit while my husband paints it’s a great way of exchanging ideas and most importantly doing things together. I remember when growing up my mother, aunts, cousins, and friends would get together to knit, sew, crochet and embroider, the children would be given scraps of materials and we would ( very primitive ) make dolls clothes , then we would be taught to knit. There was always a lot of laughing and fun at these gatherings, I miss those days, most of all I’m sad because children today do not want to learn those skills they are too busy with computer games and texting. Still I keep trying and always bring material, yarn and needles in case they decide to have a go.
Speaking of lining, I have a coverlet/quilt that I bought years ago. It's fallen into being a less loved color than it was when I bought it. Still nice, but never used it. I'm making my first quilt top, and plan to use it to provide both, batting, and lining. There are two 'linings,' but, hopefully nothing will show through. If it does, plan B. Thanks for continuing to show your quilting. It is inspiring. Nice to see the progress. Makes me happy.
Hello from California. I recently “discovered” your videos, your story, and some of your work. I so enjoy the cooking, and this patch work here. I am trying to learn sewing, knitting and crocheting, but I try to use all kinds of fabric, even used, forgotten or old. I love hand sewing too, like Sashiko and Boro. Thank you for sharing your work.
Carlos & Arne, If you don't know what something is called in English, just say it in Norweigen so we can learn some Norweigen words too. I'd love that.😊
I found your TH-cam channel quite by accident and love watching you both. You have inspired me to want to try quilting with different fabrics. The way you embellish your projects are just beautiful! Please continue recording your quilting. I find myself so relaxed watching you both. By the way, you speak English just beautifully!! My best from RI, MaryAnn
Hi Guys, I love watching your shows. I only recently discovered you and am binge-watching all of your old shows. Your multilingualism is nearly as impressive as your skill in the fiber arts. I think the word Arne was struggling with was millefiori. This word normally applies to glasswork, but I think it could apply equally well to the many flowers he is embroidering. You may not even see this comment, but I apologize if someone has already made this comment, I didn't scroll all the way down.
Clever and Inspiring. I knew there was something missing because I just couldn't sew the crazy blocks together. This is it! Appealing is the good word for the style you work together Thank you
I am relatively new to your channel and your work. Obviously I have so much to catch up on!!!! So many things to go back and find. This was perfect as embroidery is something I have taken up just this month! Any videos on the subject would be great. Your work is beautiful 😍. Thank you.
Love to watch Arne stitch! Yep, the flower is a "lazy daisy" but not usually attached to the crosses, as you're doing - very clever and pretty variation. xo from Oregon again.

And yes, lazy daisy in English is Mille-fleur in French, same stitch, two different names. We like to think that whatever it’s called, it makes a lovely decoration on a patchwork square!
Please know that when I expressed my thought that the stitch was lazy daisy, it was meant as a question, definitely not

Obrigada, parabéns, beijos do Brasil! 😉🌹🌷
Oh no! Get well both of you xx

The silver embroidery is absolutely beautiful 😍
Carlos-Hi everybody
Arne-Hello
You are so sweet both of you❤️❤️
Your videos are little gems.
Mille-fleur sounds so much better than lazy daisy! I’m just so thankful that you do these podcasts in English! Another great tutorial ❤️
You are welcome Sue!
Feel better both of you! So nice to think of us when u r sick! Wish I was close by to sit n sew pearls n flowers with Arne!🤗🌸🌺❤️

You two are really "in the zone" when you're doing this type of work. I could watch and listen to you for hours! Thanks for another inspiring video.
Hi Arne and Carlos,恭喜发财,万事如意.Today is Chinese New Year . Happy Chinese New Year. The year of the pig. Thank you for all your lovely programs
You two are multi-media specialists. You enjoy using more than one or two media and techniques in a project. Knitting, crochet, quilting, embroidery, beading, lacework- it’s all in there.

YaYa I’m the same. I love the way ARNE says “hello.” 🧶🌟🧶🌟🧶🌟🧶🌟
Thank you for confirming yarn work and sewing are relaxing. No one seems to understand how relaxing it is to sit and work with yarn and textiles: although I've tried to explain why I find it a great way to de-stress after a long hard day.
Actually it has been proven that sewing and knitting and crochet, and probably painting, lower the blood pressure and slower the heart beat.
You now have a fan from Auckland New Zealand! Hi guys, high summer here so watching this so I can emulate when it's not so warm.
You always surprise me in a charming way! What a beautiful stitch. Thank you for this tutorial.
You are welcome Carmen!
Whatever way you say it, I love you both!
Enjoyed demonstration so much. Now back to my knitted birds.

FAB log cabin blocks!! Silver & black. Gorgeous!!
Thank you!
I have a tablecloth that my grandmother embroidered in the 1950's and I'm thinking of making it into a whole cloth quilt. You are so fun to watch. So inspiring.
Thank you, it is a great way to remember your grandmother.

I'm rewatching your patchwork videos, would love to see more videos on this. You two are so inspiring.
Hi, thank you! We have planned more patchwork videos in the near future!
@@ARNECARLOS I’m so excited.👏
Love this stitch I'm going to work on it tonight.
I could watch you guys all day.
Thank you!
I love your crazy patchwork squares and thankyou for showing the embroidery I make crazy quilt squares alot
You are welcome!
Thank you,
María Lucía 🌷🕊🧵
You are welcome, thank you for watching!
I would love to see a tutorial on the log cabin! Great video as always guys - thank you so much.
Yes please, I would love to see the Log Cabin block! Love all that you two do! Very cool!
I have the sensation that I am sitting at your table at a sewing circle! Lovely work!
Welcome to our table!
It's really relaxing watching you guys too! Plus the beautiful work you do! Love you guys have a great week! Kathy in Ohio! 😀
I look forward to watch you making the blk & wt log garden & finishing stitching
Love your work
Speaking of lining, I have a coverlet/quilt that I bought years ago.
Great show, love the stitchery! Love to see more!
Hi Adriana, welcome to our channel!
Loved stitching with you both. Nice sewing machine.
Thank you!
Carlos & Arne, If you don't know what something is called in English, just say it in Norweigen so we can learn some Norweigen words too. I'd love that.😊
I always look forward to your Sunday videos. Please keep up your fantastic work!
Oi!! Muito bonito o trabalho de vocês continuem assim ...
I found your TH-cam channel quite by accident and love watching you both. You have inspired me to want to try quilting with different fabrics. The way you embellish your projects are just beautiful! Please continue recording your quilting. I find myself so relaxed watching you both. By the way, you speak English just beautifully!!
My best from RI,
MaryAnn
We always have time for you guys 😊 thank you for brightening our day x
So inspiring you make me want to get to the sewing machine and pull out the bits and bobs I have been saving!
Thank you and no need to apologize!
Enjoyable, lovely that you have your many crafts in common, always enjoy the different settings in your home and garden.
Clever and Inspiring. I knew there was something missing because I just couldn't sew the crazy blocks together. This is it!
Appealing is the good word for the style you work together Thank you
Yes tutorial please! Love you two. :)
I am relatively new to your channel and your work. Obviously I have so much to catch up on!!!! So many things to go back and find. This was perfect as embroidery is something I have taken up just this month! Any videos on the subject would be great. Your work is beautiful 😍. Thank you.
Lovely and beautiful. Thank you for all your insparation.
YES. It would be appreciated to see a tutorial on the log cabin quilt. Love your videos!
Love to watch Arne stitch! Yep, the flower is a "lazy daisy" but not usually attached to the crosses, as you're doing - very clever and pretty variation. xo from Oregon again.
