Hi everyone! Thanks for all your comments, we are really pleased that we are able to give you a good tip to improve your knitting! We really mean it when we say that "knitting is cheating" so we will definitely think of some more things that you can do to "fix" mistakes in such a way that you don't need to rip up your knitting every time. I see a lot of people are mentioning Valentines day in the comments below and who thought that maybe we would do something Valentines-related on our channel this week, but actually, even though you can find some Valentines cards and other Valentine-related stuff in shops here in our country, we don't really celebrate Valentines day here in Norway so we didn't think about it... Well, there is always next year! Keep in mind that our next video will be a LIVE stream and will take place on Saturday February 16th at 6:00pm CET / 11:00am CST - and there will be no video published on Sunday February 17th. Have a great week ahead and we look forward to interact with you live, soon! Arne

"Knitting is all about cheating", says Carlos. One of the billions of things that make me love watching your videos. "Carlosisms". And, of course, the casual way Arne handles problems that put us into panic mode. Thank you once again, guys. Besos y abrazos.

I honestly think there are people who get on youtube and watch for new videos just to press the thumbs down button without even watching the videos, I swear.
All the thumbs downs on your channel should be ignored and disregarded as nothing! Seriously, what is in this video (or ANY of your videos) to dislike?!?!
Baffles and confuses me to no end! There is nothing but smiles, wonderful knitting and crochet tutorials, laughing (Arne-I LOVE your laugh!!), great information about other crafts, hints and tricks about gardening, providing for wildlife (bird houses, feeders and even insects!!), you both have great hair, Carlos has a warm smile, Arne is a huggable cutie.
    And the best part?
We get to see Carlos go jump in the lake once in a while!! 😂🤣
Really, I love you both, thank you for this channel a million times infinity squared!!
Also, seeing the fast forward of Arne knitting was cool, and to whoever did the video editing so you both were still talking normally (as opposed to the chipmunk chatter that usually accompanies fast forward action) great job!!
Always looking forward to next Sunday with you guys!!
Love, hugs, prayers and positive energy to both of you and your crew! 🤗💖

I have struggled with twisted yarn for years but you have solved this problem for me. I just love watching you chat together with us all, just like old friends dropping in for a cup of tea and a slice of cake. Have a fabulous week ahead, you are my most favourite people. ARNE, YOU ARE MY HERO! This is a life changer. Amazing solution...so simple. I had to watch it a few times to believe it! I laughed when I think of the countless hours of my 70 years that have been spent ripping out and casting on again because of a twist. The irony that the solution is to twist.

Happy Sunday Funday! Thanks for another great knitting tip.
Last November I took a class from Ann Budd with her skirt pattern. (shout out to Ann and Cowgirl Yarn in Laramie WY) I cast on near the end of the class. It has a twist in it and its living on the needles, but now I can fix it with ease and carry on! 😍 (Keep calm, and knit on!) Thank you for saving me from the massive re-cast on! Whoop whoop! 🎉
Thank you so much for the weekly tutorials, crafting tips, and passing on some great pointers with us. Much appreciated! 💯❣️ Tusen Takk!

It would be fun to hear all your favorite ways of cheating! Maybe using duplicate stitch to fix a colorwork mistake,.... or when you run out of yarn doing a long tail cast on and you can’t spit splice some more yarn on, picking up a couple of stitches evenly when you knit the first row....or maybe I cheat too much!🇺🇸❤️🇳🇴

Oh Arne!! This weekend I cast on 300 sts in Navy 4ply on 2.75mm needles. I was certain I had no twisted sts, until I put the work down and picked it up again, I think I must have twisted my needles round because 16 rows later I noticed I had a möbius!! I re-started the whole lot again. But a great tip to remember in the future. Thankyou for this vid. 😁👍

I know!! Thing is, until I see Arne explain how to untwist, made me realise that was probably HOW I put a twist in my work. It’s all learning though and I should have checked several times. It’s all going well now.

    • @vivianpowell1732
      @vivianpowell1732 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hazel Donner Another thing you can do to avoid twisting, especially after casting on a large number of stitches, is to postpone "joining in the round" until you have knitted 2 or 3 rows as in straight knitting. You simply use the circular needle like a straight needle. That way, your row of stitches is less likely to twist. Then you can join in the round after knitting 3 rows straight, without any problem. You close the gap of the first two rows by sewing it together with your yarn tail using the mattress stitch.

I have given this trick to many a student over my 43 years of teaching. I have a friend who does production knitting doing lots of infinity scarves and cowls. Her trick for no twisting after casting on a large number of stitches is....as you cast on place a marker at the half way point. With all the stitches cast on, fold your needle cable at the marker.so the two halves are parallel then working back toward the points straighten the sts so the edge knots are all facing down. Turn the needles so they are facing each other and sat knitting. Do check the set of the sts. when you finish the first round.

Hi Arne & Carlos. I see your tin can. I bought some at Christmas time. When I went to the city by jet 1 hour 30 minutes away I found small ones I wanted. I clean mine out let dry, cut felt material. It comes in many colors about size of sheet of paper & larger. I scratch inside of tin can & put Elmers Glue inside and cut the Felt fabric to size. I like them like that so my scissors and such don't make such a racket.

So glad to see the fun with your circular needle collection. What a great idea,I have a pretty one I kept for years from a gift given to
My mother-in-law just sitting around. Now I can repurpose it with my circulars. Thank you!!

Haha when you fast forward your knitting in this video it pretty much shows how I see your knitting in real time, Arne. You are such a fast knitter. I love watching your videos because I'm learning so much on improving my tension, how to fix ladders and holes, and the list goes on. I don't want to be fastest knitterni want to be a knitter where my tension is spot on and ppl think it's machine knitted. I also wanted to get over my fear of color knitting. You are helping me with this too. And yes I watch your old videos over and over when I need a refresher course or want to finally brave a technique like you short row heels. I've made lots of socks but I learned to make the heel as I knit my sock, it looks like a canoe by picking up stitches and knitting all the way around. I haven't braved steeking yet maybe one day. Thank you so much for your videos and knitting lessons. Also life lessons by sharing your dayd to day lives. Lovebyour history and culture behind the stitches. It makes sense in your designs and why you do things a certain way. Thank you again.

Have you heard of the sewing notion "Wonder Clips" ?? They are fabulous for keeping beginners using circular needles to avoid getting "twists"!!
