I wish the Spidey figures had this figure's body sculpt (or maybe something in between). Mafex's Spidey figures are a bit too slim IMO, and I always pictured Nightwing & Spidey sharing the same build. Also I hope Mafex would make a Red Hood & Tim Drake, and eventually the rest of the Batfamily; that'd be awesome!

Yeah, a lot of Spidey fans seem to prefer him to be slim, lanky, and close to his teen build. Personally I prefer him to be a bit bulky and have an Olympic Acrobat’s build. And those guys are jacked compared to your average Joe.
Just a fair warning for anyone getting this figure, the wired esprima sticks are pretty fragile. I’ve seen reviews say that theirs broke easily and within the fist 10 minutes of getting the figure mine broke as well. It might be a case by case basis but just be warned.

That piece for the stand that puzzled you was to attach the smaller claw to the stand. Without it you can attach the crotch cradle to the smaller claw to the stand. Give you options if that interests you.
