Right? Big Waaagh seem like all the stuff that should have been in main army got put there. And Zoggroks faction seems like the actual competitive choice.
Its such a shame- Kruleboyz was thematic, fun and if played right could do well. They nerfed the movement and the damage. That pretty much kills it. Big Waaagh looks better, butnhas a lot of heavy lifting to make up for whats been hit.
Ig waagh can have some potential, and the Zogrog AOR can be fun too. Just hoping that the sneaky sneakin in the hero phase is a typo, i can live with the rest.
I'm really excited for the book now. Thank you for the video! Shame pigs didn't get more love but between Big Waaagh, The Zog AoR, and even the subtle changes to the IJ units it looks like we have a lot to play with.
This just makes me hate my IJ even more, we have to do so much work just to get what any other army can throw out like no tomorrow. Plus all the traits just seem shit. I’m just really frustrated how destruction basically has been shafted an entire edition. And I thought Big Waagh was meant to be a mix of the two, not just a forced ass hat of a mixed bag.

Ok GW finally did it. They have created Armies of Renown that are legit good. Honestly Big Waaagh I think is just outright better than than the regular army rules. And the other AoR aren't too bad either. Honestly these alone might just redeem the Orruk Warclans book.
Okay so after my comment on yesterday's video, this video gave me a little joy. There was a a way I can still play with my KB and IJ that doesn't completly suck.

Ok that Zoggrok AoR could actually have real competitive play. It helps address the weaknesses of the army and combined with the new field sergeant honour guard ability, that's a very good set of buffs.
Yeah I mean Ardboys are already the books best anvil and Zoggroks army just give them the tools to go all out on that even more. Them plus some Brute variants for hammers and you might just have a legit competitive build.
I really wanted to go full hog, like all cav, let’s go and smash everything. I do like the BIG WAAAGH! though. I do own the old 3rd edition starter Kruleboyz. Might expand my Kruleboyz collection to put the two together. Ardboyz regiment seems fun also.
Rob, why did GW deliberately fumble Orks so hard and deliberately? The tome is absolute garbage as it's a virtual copy paste from the index which all orruk players hated, they have to know
Please also mention that Skaven, SCE and a good chunk of thr StD book are also just copy + paste from the index. No new magic, artefacts, battle traits or anything! It's insulting by GW to charge 40€ for a reprint of the index + artwork!
@@Onk3lM0 I also play ScE and I really didn‘t mind that much, because the army works and really feels like you are playing elite heavy hitters coming from the sky. Kruleboyz however is not fun to play, doesn’t „feel“ like you are playing anything specific and the rules suck. So here I really mind paying money for such a bad battletome which makes things worse from the „free rules“ before.
Imo they want IJ to be one of the "simple" armies for newer players, which is why they took all the tech out of the army. The problem is that a "simple" army definitionally has a low skill ceiling so if they are strong they are strong for everyone. Thus they have to be undertuned at any serious skill level or they dominate at any level below that.
I think the AoS community as a whole aren’t happy with how it’s going for battletomes and for how much orruk Warclans needed a fresh rules change and for GW not to change a tad just goes to show. GW really need to need to work with the community on this one

I'd love ti know why GW hate Kruleboyz. The rules thay dropped for them when 4.0 dropped were fill of flavour and, with some subtle tweaks, could have made rbem a tricksie force to be reckoned with. But no, a nerf, an army that's always struggled, has been nerfed...it boggles the mind and i cant fathom if its ineptitude, a lack of interest from GW or GW just really dont like them/want them in the game and will berd them into irrelevance.
The problem with the Big Waaagh heroic traits is that they only last until the end of the battle round. Because you need to have a regiment of iron jaws for each KBZ you’ll end up with 2-4 regiments. Meaning you’ll be going second most of the time and thus the buffs only last your turn….. Why GW couldn’t make them last until your next turn? Idk
Rob, love the shows, do Armies of Renown get separate points for their units? At the minute the Kruleboyz monster mash one looks worse than taking the same units in a usual KB army as you lose access to crit 2 hits on companions as well as losing access to our monsters wizard Gobsprakk and the Gnashtooth (which is OK at 180 pts w crit 2 hits, and has the best save in our army). I'm worried that points will go up because Big Waaagh will be strong and regular KB are going to be absolutely terrible with no way to balance
The Zogs prayer lore is crazy. You could make terrain all over just do mortals. It is funny that if your opponent moves near the terrain they take mortals, charges near the terrain they take mortals, piles in near the terrain they take mortals, the ardboyz punch them for mortals, then if they retreat they take possibly 2d3 mortals. Perhaps Pile in are mot move?
Loving your conclusion at the end: people should stop complaining and start thinking how to make the best out of the situation. And the new army of Renown looks great to start with. And ardboyz are my most favourite ifantry sculpts in all AoS so I'd love bringing half of them back 😊 Hope tomorrow you will cover up the spearhead. Cause this is what I am most curious about. And although the rules will be free, there will be so many people again complaining about this and that... But I am just so happy to bring my ironjawz to the next spearhead matches 😁
I've been taking this as an opportunity to hack together a fun little Ironjawz redesign/lore revamp! "Fine, I'll make it myself" is actually a rather cathartic way to move forward from disappointment.
I really want to like armies of renown. They feel like the closest thing to REAL subfactions we have in any of GWs wargames right now. And from a design perspective I think it is intelligent to design the subfactions in an environment seperate from core army rules. It lets you do crazy things with them. It’s the difference between this and your subfaction being a +1 to one unit and that’s it. You don’t have to worry about rules blote or power creep. But they are so undercooked, and feel like they just took some rules that were going to be in the index and stretched them BADLY. Zero army construction choices, one spell, one prayer. They just crumble under close inspection. So basically classic GW. A good idea ruined by some executive who gave them 5 minutes in a broom closet to write the book. It made the quarterly earnings report look better so he can get a raise.
They’ll still be available to play. The battletomes don’t replace the Dawnbringer RoR’s, they add to them. The Stormcast & S2D ones are still up including Ionus’ Skywing on the App. (They got enough flak for the index copy-paste, they didn’t want to copy-paste those too 😅)

Looks like the nailed it. Just kind of confused about the two individual halves feeling so weak. How are these guys with all them muscles and big ol weapons rend 1?

Gut can move 9" with sargent and magic, ragers have run and charge with 2" bonus, so is 13" movement +3D6+1 charge from kragnos. Heros: if not kragnos a envilsmasha and a shaman. You send troups to kill and die evry turn and bring them back.. could be fun.. Ohoh.. nerf incoming.. Possible list: 1 regiment- Kragnos +envilsmasha + pigs + ragerz reinforced 2 regiment -shaman + 2x gut reinforced Also possible is to use the pigs to pin the enemy and bring those back; 1) megaboss on maw + 4x pigs 2) shaman + 2x gut reinforced +boltboyz
For me, having just gotten into Ironjawz because I've always wanted them, I am disappointed. Still, I plan to have fun with them, and try these things out. Sometimes, it is really evident GW is a model company with they way they approach things. Before I can even really comment, I need to get a few games in. Having picked up Dominion, it does feel nice that I can add the Kruelboyz. Feeling less optimistic than I was a week ago, but still feel good about the purchas.e
Why is Bonesplitterz still printed as a Faction for the Regiments of Renown when they get gutted in half a Year? Seems strange for new Players to see them later on in the Edition.
Which is sad, because all this shit comes from GW being unable to decide for good if we're two factions or one. If we're Kruleboyz and Ironjawz, give us two separate BT with full rules. It's good enough for the damned duardins and aelves that clog the release schedule of everyone with all their armies. And if we're the Orruk Warclans, treat us as such and give us one BT where Big WAAAGH is the basic, with various subfactions to make use of more specific gameplays and AoR for each separate Warclan. But this inbetween is killing us.
I just bought into Ironjawz in anticipation of the battletome and the Zoggrok AoR looks nice but damn, I really don't want to soup into Kruleboyz to get the most out the faction. Guess it's CoS then. 😐
Zoggrok AoR it would good if would not have just infantry but also goregruntas. That penalize it too much imho. The MawGruntas RoR in Kruleboyz is interesting instead!
I enjoy the book yes some stuff got nerf like my pigs hitting on +5 but other then that I'm ready For me it's annoying 😑 that you want everything in an army to be great or have a ward lol and what's with the kragnos hate he's fun
I am really disappointed with the book overall, but at least I'm excited to play Zoggrok's AoR, looks like a great reason to get 20 more arsboyz, the new models are fantastic
It’s a shame that Big waagh will be the best way to play Orruks for 4+ years straight. And the worst part, it’s unbalance-able. Say BW turns out to be too strong, unless they do points specifically for BW, any balance adjustments will also hit the other two. And any buffs to either faction just makes BW even better.
This is why we say No to soup. 🍜 🚫 Separate tomes would’ve given them a lot more focus where it was needed instead of patch jobs. At least as a restricted Renown force if either IJ or KB get too buffed in the future people will stop using BW so they can access the Terrain & RoR’s to add on their lists.
It’s cool when you try to be optimistic but Orruk players have always been on the wrong end when it comes to books. An army shouldn’t be good because of an army of renown.

Loved how narrative the Ruination Brotherhood is for building your ancient heroes and Zoggrok & Skumdrekk look to do the same(especially with all those Spearhead ‘Ardboyz you’ll be spamming in AoS & Warcry 😁👊) Love the Two Headz spell, nice army buffer both sides can use and symbolizes Gorkamorka’s fusion dance. ‘Twas a dance that made the Bonesplitterz proud.
both abilities from counting crew RoR were native grots and crocodiles abilities they were cut away and put into useless unneeded RoR and coolboys CANNOT EVEN USE IT
I assume all the very very disappointed player never had the "fun" of being a 40k ork player when the faction stayed in index for a whole year more than the others, and you had to win against ULTRA combo Imperial Knigths vasically having to rely only on choppaz and Shoota...
Kind of save the battletome if you want to play Big WAAAGH! or Ardboy spam, but otherwise, yeah that's not great. And what's that Skumdrekk army ? it fits his lore I guess, but come on.
Its madness, that GW put more creative efforts into the AORs then to IJ. Regardless how the power level will look like, both Zoggroks band the BW looks cool and Im eager to play them. In the meantime IJ looks dull and boring. I just dont understand.

Still, pick a good thing from one side and you are restricted from the other side...weird. So I understand the funniest part of the current BT, Pig renown army diseapeared and we just have a renown bataillon ? Hard ... hard
The Stormcast tome didn’t have Ionus’ Skywing either but it’s still updated in the App & legal so likely the same deal with the Big Pig AoR & kruleboy RoR.
Wtf is this mess. Really. IJs had a weakness, KB had a weakness. They both were strong but not fantastic at tournaments. So now every game will be the nastiest of both halves and it all recurs with literally no penalties. This is just badly designed. Yay orks got something but this is going to be garbage to play against. Who thought this was ok

For me, having just gotten into Ironjawz because I've always wanted them, I am disappointed. Still, I plan to have fun with them, and try these things out. Sometimes, it is really evident GW is a model company with they way they approach things. Before I can even really comment, I need to get a few games in. Having picked up Dominion, it does feel nice that I can add the Kruelboyz. Feeling less optimistic than I was a week ago, but still feel good about the purchas.e
Why is Bonesplitterz still printed as a Faction for the Regiments of Renown when they get gutted in half a Year? Seems strange for new Players to see them later on in the Edition.

Which is sad, because all this shit comes from GW being unable to decide for good if we're two factions or one. If we're Kruleboyz and Ironjawz, give us two separate BT with full rules. It's good enough for the damned duardins and aelves that clog the release schedule of everyone with all their armies.
And if we're the Orruk Warclans, treat us as such and give us one BT where Big WAAAGH is the basic, with various subfactions to make use of more specific gameplays and AoR for each separate Warclan.
But this inbetween is killing us.

I just bought into Ironjawz in anticipation of the battletome and the Zoggrok AoR looks nice but damn, I really don't want to soup into Kruleboyz to get the most out the faction. Guess it's CoS then. 😐

I am really disappointed with the book overall, but at least I'm excited to play Zoggrok's AoR, looks like a great reason to get 20 more arsboyz, the new models are fantastic
It's actually funny how you just get more for playing ironjawz in these armies than you do in base ironjawz
It’s a shame that Big waagh will be the best way to play Orruks for 4+ years straight. And the worst part, it’s unbalance-able. Say BW turns out to be too strong, unless they do points specifically for BW, any balance adjustments will also hit the other two. And any buffs to either faction just makes BW even better.

Separate tomes would’ve given them a lot more focus where it was needed instead of patch jobs.
At least as a restricted Renown force if either IJ or KB get too buffed in the future people will stop using BW so they can access the Terrain & RoR’s to add on their lists.
It’s cool when you try to be optimistic but Orruk players have always been on the wrong end when it comes to books. An army shouldn’t be good because of an army of renown.

Love the Two Headz spell, nice army buffer both sides can use and symbolizes Gorkamorka’s fusion dance. ‘Twas a dance that made the Bonesplitterz proud.

they were cut away and put into useless unneeded RoR and coolboys CANNOT EVEN USE IT
I assume all the very very disappointed player never had the "fun" of being a 40k ork player when the faction stayed in index for a whole year more than the others, and you had to win against ULTRA combo Imperial Knigths vasically having to rely only on choppaz and Shoota...

Its madness, that GW put more creative efforts into the AORs then to IJ. Regardless how the power level will look like, both Zoggroks band the BW looks cool and Im eager to play them. In the meantime IJ looks dull and boring. I just dont understand.

The Stormcast tome didn’t have Ionus’ Skywing either but it’s still updated in the App & legal so likely the same deal with the Big Pig AoR & kruleboy RoR.

Wtf is this mess. Really. IJs had a weakness, KB had a weakness. They both were strong but not fantastic at tournaments. So now every game will be the nastiest of both halves and it all recurs with literally no penalties. This is just badly designed. Yay orks got something but this is going to be garbage to play against. Who thought this was ok
