Watched the game and tbh I don't know the round of attacks you're talking about. He did have +2 to hit (for what that's worth) on the mounts any time he used AoA because that affects Companion and he had the detachment ability. And it doesn't do nothing - it would matter if the target had -1 to hit. But I never saw him rolling 2+s for any eels it was always 3s and 3s
What a thrilling game. When Slaves got that double turn, I assumed that was it for the Deepkin. But while I agree that that failed charge was huge, I did also think the Deepkin manouverability really showed its potential value here.
Kudos for trying abraxia. I wonder how many points the chosen lifted before they were killed? 3D6 is enticing but with mobile Varanguard and the field Sgt giving +2 movement I think you can explore other options for the Chosen. Moving up for a turn 2/3 ordained charge etc.
I have been debating to grab IDK or S2D so this was a very on time video. Great battle, shame about those charges or that could have been a really terrifying storm.
Good game thanks! Varan guard are not a glass cannon unit, but when gifted to the brunt of essentialy a full army then yes thankfully they can be eradicated.
I think he had to take it, otherwise the whole IDK army gets to go in on the charge and dictating the engagements - plus with 3 D6 charges the whole army had a good shot at getting in!
You have to charge and Power Through with varanguard. Abraxia is bad, and varanguard, both are now over costed in comparison to other faction's hammer units.
Still think Varanguard are top 5 units in the game right now. With Chosen being another one. Personally i disagree that they're overcosted, I just think GW was trying to force a bit more balance and trying to put the break on the only list STD was running in competetive games.
Legit not a good game. Pushing everything in without having to use your brain at all is everything that’s wrong with the game at moment. No positional play, no strat, just banking everything on a 3d6 charge and a prio is - well - it is what it is, and that’s boring. Thankfully it didn’t pay off.

losing the -1 to wound from the marl and not having a 5+ ward from the mage is a huge difference.
