    No talking, just walking. Exploring the English Countryside. A nice gentle walk around the beautiful quaint village of Milton Abbas, a village and civil parish located in Dorset. About Dave's Walks
    Hi there, I‘m Dave! I've lived in the English Countryside all my life, and I love it! I enjoy walking, and couldn’t help but notice just how beautiful the UK can be away from the cities. I found myself inspired and decided to get some camera equipment and make some walking videos so I can share my walks of the beautiful countryside with everyone!
    I mainly focus on small towns, villages, picturesque landscapes, rolling hills and mountains, forests and canals, all along the coastlines in England, Scotland, Wales, and who knows maybe one day further afar!
    I upload every Sunday 11.45am GMT (3.45am PST) (6.45am EST) (5.15pm IST) (9.15pm ACST)

    A wonderful way to visit merry old England… I’m 81 soon and have lived in north Germany almost 50years … just had a hip replacement and despite the pain relief I’ll never be able to walk for hours as I did when my husband and I spent our summers in Cornwall and Yorkshire… thanks so much for the chance of reliving old memories… I wish you the strength to keep walking!

    My late father's family, grand , great grand ,and great great grandparents are buried in the old cemetery. Born and raised , as he was, in New Zealand, it has been a delight to see the place our ancestors called home. Truelly, a beautiful place to have a long distance connection to.Thankyou for a delightful stroll.

      I came to Milton Abbas quite a few years ago to have a look around as Joseph was a ancestor of mine, we had a look in the lovely church but didn’t go into the house as at the time it was a private school, my sister did go in but had to get permission first, she said there was a picture at the top of the stairs that looked the double of our uncle. 🤗 It’s a beautiful village too.

    I’m not sure if it’s maybe because of the abundance of space between each house, but the neighborhood reminds me slightly of an american neighborhood. not the way the homes look, but just the layout. pretty cool, thanks for sharing.

    38:34 it's tragic to see the cemetery being retaken by mother nature. It's as if their lives had a statute of limitations and were lost to the relentless pursuit of time. Thank you for sharing.

    • @clairenoon4070
      @clairenoon4070 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It isn't tragic at all. It's absolutely normal in the 'Old World' where people have been dying for a very, very long time. When did you last see a grave outdoors of someone who died in, say, 1000? The UK was fully Christianised by then, so people would have had Christian burials, but the 'graves' are long gone (and possibly reused for more recent burials). It's just a process that continues. Old graves will be under our feet without us even knowing it. Construction projects like HS2 almost always unearth graves.
      Given that the majority of people in the UK now choose to be cremated, this process of being forgotten is now even more accelerated, since there's no physical evidence marking their death at all. Most people will be forgotten within 5, possibly even 4, generations of their death.

      Насколько мне известно, в настоящее время здесь не живут монахи, хотя я думаю, что поблизости может жить викарий церкви.

      It was hot, right in the middle of England's heatwave. I'd say it was about 38 Degrees/100 Fahrenheit

    In this city it shouldn't be too hot in the summer because there are a lot of trees. Here where I live (Erechim, RS, Brazil) we need to have more trees.

      It's rarely 'too hot' in the summer in the UK anyway! Often we wish it could be a bit hotter!

    Love the old mud houses. People should take a lesson from them. Made out of mud and still standing hundreds of years after wooden homes have decayed. The mostly barren front lawns of the homes are just crying out for a garden revolution. People could be growing a lot of veg on all that ground going to waste.

    • @clairenoon4070
      @clairenoon4070 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      But in the UK we rarely build homes from wood anyway? We build from various types of stone or brick, and hundreds of thousands of those homes are still standing, hundreds of years later.
      This village is only late 1700s, and is effectively a planned 'new town'/'model village', after a typical English higgledy-piggledy village was swept away to create it.
      Because of its highly unusual nature, they want to maintain the 'integrity' of the village, at least at the front, but I'm sure the back gardens are as you describe. A small amount of lawn, in a country where it rains a lot, is hardly problematic.
      I also note your assumption that everyone is physically capable of growing vegetables! The arrogance of the fairly young and fit! Some of us are elderly, frail, unwell or disabled...

    Natural beauty is good but these homes should not be embraced at all in 2023 ...
    Modern homes are more beautiful, more features and practical, requires less maintenance, space efficient... & they can solve the housing crisis in uk

    • @DavesWalks
      @DavesWalks  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wouldn't say they are embraced, just viewed and appreciated as relics of a history long gone. Its just one very unique street that I think simply stands out as different.
