    Wish this was longer. You could probably do some videos just the goslings alone even without information and people would still watch it. This looks fun.

    Beautiful moment, in that puddle! Wow!! Right now I have 5 baby Embden goslings following me around, along with 2 turkey poults and two Cayuga ducklings. Incubator is full of 10 Dewlap Toulouse eggs and 17 turkey eggs….trying to equalize conditions for both turkey and goose eggs is a bit tricky, but working so far!! Brinsea incubators are the BOMB!!

      One thing I've learned with my older geese and my newer goslings - they like to be tall. They will climb all kinds of things. The adults will climb on top of whatever they can and the goslings try to climb me.

    Had a lot of issues with certain feed producers skimping on vit B3 (or likely counting it from grains, which goslings cannot fully process) and gosling legs going sideways. One year almost lost half a clutch. Found good producer and with some brewer's yeast as safeguard the problems no longer occur.

    Those are some handsome goslings.
    I'm curious can you sort of start to tell which are male and female by size like you can with ducklings? With ducklings you can get a feel for this because the females will be a lot smaller.

    • @farmerjohomesteading

    Ours just hatched, we dipped their beaks to the water, but they aren't interested in the food. They are about 12 hours old. Is this a problem?

    • @farmerjohomesteading
      @farmerjohomesteading  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi! Thank you for your comment. They usually eat when they want to. I wouldn't be too worried, their absorbed yoke from hatching is good for 72 hours 😊 hope this helps!

    Great video, my mom just got 2 goslings from the farmers market, they're about chicken sized now, we dont accurately know how old they are. At this stage what should we be feeding them? Still the starters or would grain/corn/ leftover vegetables do? What type pf protein would be suitable for them?

    • @farmerjohomesteading
      @farmerjohomesteading  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So exciting! They can probably be moved to a grower feed and the grains and veggies would be good for them

    I just hatched out a trio of babies and yes they are now two weeks old amd i want to get them out of the space they are in but they hate it when I leave them I have a very large pen they can go into but they scream when im not there. I watched them hatch and they must think I'm mom. But I know what the answer is, but how do I stop them from trying to hurt them selves trying to get out and back to me?

    • @farmerjohomesteading
      @farmerjohomesteading  ปีที่แล้ว +2

    From Hatch to a few days old do you need to add any vitamins or electrolytes to the water. If so what? And are any vaccinations necessary with goslings/geese? TY

    • @farmerjohomesteading
      @farmerjohomesteading  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! We have added poultry vitamins in their water before. Because they are so messy tho, it , mostly goes to waste as they play in it.

    • @richardthompson5001
      @richardthompson5001 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      ive seen people use medicated chick starter combo'd with Brewers yeast if they are not vaccinated at birth. Brewers yeast helps with the niacin and other supplements needed for development.

    Hey I have a question so my gosling from tractor supply came with hardened egg on its head… we tried cleaning it with dawn dishsoap but it was still a little hard afterwards do you know what I should do?

      Also he had bald spots is that normal and will it grow feathers when it gets older

    • @farmerjohomesteading
      @farmerjohomesteading  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Warm water and it will eventually break down. The bald spots is likely due to other shell bits that were ripped off. It should be just fine. I would give vitamins in the water. Stuck shells means it had a rough hatch or inadequate hatching conditions (poor humidity, wrong temp) and it may be weaker due to that. Does it have a buddy? They should always be in pairs, that will also help it thrive 😊

    How are goslings at jumping? I have a few different order coming over a 3 week period, are gosling like chickens, the older bigger ones will pick on the smaller newer ones? I have a 6ft round x ft tall metal stock tank to brood,them all in… I know the size will be a concern too…

    • @farmerjohomesteading
      @farmerjohomesteading  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thank you for your comment. Goslings double in size very quickly. Depending on how many you are getting weekly will make a big difference. If there are a bunch of them weekly they won't get singled out and picked on as much. Hope this helps!

    • @farmerjohomesteading
      @farmerjohomesteading  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh no! It might need a little boost. You can do warm honey water and syringe feed it. That might help perk it up enough to eat. Also, make sure baby is warm. If they are cold their bodies start shutting down.
