Thank you. Poultry are so interesting. Of all kinds. I'm just surprised you didn't get more comments for your nice videos. You had good information content also.

I loved the information about the pouch between their legs. I wondered how to determine that. It is good to know and like how you pointed that out in the video. I have 14 brown and white Chinese geese. I am on tiktok and have some videos. Thanks again! ❤

Aspiring farmer here trying to decide which livestock to invest in.
Has it been difficult to find a market for your geese and is meat the best business model in your opinion or would you recommend focusing on selling hatching eggs?

I'm very curious how much you spend on feed compared to ducks, chickens percentagewise?
I haven't done geese yet because I'm in the city. But the efficiency aspect of them has me itching to hope for a chance to try them in the future. And they are so pretty and can feed more people than a duck or chicken with more meat. (I don't like having to process poultry meat though...)
And can you feed geese hay? (Not ideal but considering back up options).
    ...
In the video you mentioned the egg flap, the flap of extra skin balled up on the bottom of their hips. You see that ... structure in some cold hardy bird species to help them keep chicks, eggs warm when in winter. Penguins have it, and a few other species. That's why I believe that's what its there for and what it is for that. Thought mentioning this might help you. You won't find other people mentioning this but I do believe this is accurate despite it being my opinion. If you see penguin videos of how they keep the chic under it, it will make sense. (But that's not to say that it doesn't have other uses.)

Because we have such a mixed poultry group it's hard to say exactly how much feed they go through. In the summer I fill the 5 gallon feeder once, maybe twice a month for them. They just love foraging! In the winter months they are in with all our other flocks. This year we had around 100 birds on the farm and had a very harsh winter, our costs for all was around 200-250 per month

Thanks for the video much appreciated, you mind sharing how many eggs per goose per season? We are are in Nicaragua and have no access to specific breeds. As you probably already know we
only have two seasons, wet and dry. We got gifted a of couple of goslings which are now almost four months and are pure white wonderful and adorable but no idea what if any breed they are. Thanks for sharing.

Will a female goose defend a flock ?? I'm having a hard time keeping my birds because of a fox and thank you Martha Stewart I learned geese are great defenders ,but I can't have a male jumping on my other pets and small kids that visit me and I don't want babys lol , do they still lay without a male ??

What age or weight do you process yours for meat? Looking to maybe raise geese instead of chickens and ducks. Would you recommend that? Mainly looking because of the fact that they will eat more grass than chickens and ducks.

Definitely my favorite aspect of geese as well aside from the flavor. I would assume the savings on feed make them more profitable than ducks for smaller farms right?

How do you compare goose eggs vs duck?
    And how about their meat?
Do you make schmaltz from them?
I have a bunch of ducks but I think I want to get a few geese.

Hello! The geese don't NEED water like ducks. The geese love to swim but they don't make nearly the mess you get from ducks. The goose eggs are huge… 1:4 ratio for goose vs chicken eggs. The Chinese geese are very lean. Not much fat on them at all. The meat is delicious too!

@@farmerjohomesteading I'm finding this so true.
My friend gave away two Chinese goslings and I was lucky enough to get them.
They're so much cleaner with the water, it's making my life so easy.
I'll find out how their meat is eventually, but I'll probably get more geese and see which I keep for eggs and which for meat.
That'll depend on the neighbors and how much I want to keep them around.
