Great review, 7:40 for the test was fantastic, and loads of detail and context around it too. Only issue was the audio was only put into half my speakers but apart from that it was fantastic!

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.
With regard to the sound issue, I'll have to review what happened there to ensure I correct it for my upcoming releases.

Thanks for your review as it helped me select this product for the upcoming wet summer season. The detail that you put into it and testing out through the days was fantastic.

Couple of tips. You can add a power point timer switch and have them automatically come on and off. I also have one in my bedroom that I have plugged into a smart plug so I can use my google home to turn it on and off using voice commands. My one negative of this model is I would prefer it if it turned off once the room hit a humidity range and then would start back up as the humidity increased. They basically run all the time until you turn them off or the tank gets full. I also don’t take the cover off to empty mine. I just pour the water out the side. Good device.

Bought one of these early this week. Having had 4 ft of rain since the beginning Feb here an hour north of Syd, after 19 hours operation it has removed 7.6 litres of moisture and no more condensation on the windows.
I did tip it upside down to get it out of the box and caused no operating problems.
Does the job and is unobtrusively quiet.
    Thanks LH de A

Can you please tell me, does this unit use filters which have to be replaced?

    • @gilesargent3834

@@Alexandrite.101 Hi Helen, the unit does have an air filter at the back. The manual recommends checking the filter and cleaning every month or as required.
It states the pre-filter can be washed and wiped gently.
No comments in the manual to replace this filter in any particular time frame, therefore I would assume this filter would only need replacing if it became damaged.

@@gilesargent3834 I was actually buying one for my sister and thought it would be easier for her (she lives remotely) if she didn't have to keep replacing filters but it sounds like its a permanent filter which just needs cleaning monthly which is exactly want I was hoping.
      Thanks for your help. :)

I just bought one of these and have just set it up. With all this rain we have started having mildew issues you are right about the expense but Appliances online had sold pretty much every dehumidifier and they had some left of this. The reviews on there were outstanding especially from people who had flooded houses, so i got one and its been on 10 mins so far. I see you have two so anyhow where I got mine from already sold out of this and I only ordered it last Friday. So I will watch this video to see that i have set it up correctly. If you see my comment can you let me know about the 10l container, there is a small styrofoam pad in there. We figured it doesnt get removed, so I left it in there.

Hi Caroline, from memory, the styrofoam pad in the water container is a float that lets the unit know when it is full so I wouldn’t remove that.
      Glad the review was helpful.
BTW, I purchased my units direct from Ausclimate.

@@lahaciendadeargent2775 Thank you good to know as I might take a leaf out of your book and buy another. We have it up and running and honestly we are so excited its silly, we have very bad moisture issues it rained here where I live for 6 months straight. I live on the Blue Mountains it had never been an issue for us but it was on everything in one of the rooms you could almost taste it. I plan to use the other one in the others rooms. One of the reviews I read well most of them was of people whose homes had flooded and they were using them and were very very happy with the result. Thank you so much for your review I wasnt sure if I would find one when I checked on You tube.

Thanks for the review, is it suitable for summertime as well? Does it blow warm air all the time?

    • @lahaciendadeargent2775
      @lahaciendadeargent2775  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hi Amir, thanks for your question. The unit has 2 drying modes, 1: Dry and 2: Laundry. The unit doesn't blow hot air all the time but it does provide a heated air feature if placed in 'laundry' mode to assist with drying clothes. When used in the 'dry' mode, it just dehumidifies the air as the air passes through the unit.
I used the unit in the 'dry' mode to do the deep-down drying process and then left it in auto afterwards where the unit operates to keep the humidity level between 50-55%. The room it was used in was initially cold due to the high humidity level and it was Winter. As the room dried out it became warmer, (less moisture in the air) and the air coming out of the dehumidifier felt warm but certainly, not heated.
In relation to suitability, over Summer, here in Tasmania, I haven't had to use it at all as the humidity hasn't been a problem. I will be using it again as the weather cools and the rain increases heading back in to Winter.
This particular dehumidifier is designed for cooler climates like Tasmania, Canberra. If you were wanting a unit for a warm/hot climate where humidity is high this dehumidifier might not be the best option. Ausclimate have a range of other dehumidifiers that don't have a heating function that might be more suitable. Check out their website: www.ausclimate.com.au/
      I hope this helps.

Thank you for the great video. Once the humidity has dropped to say 40%, if you stop the unit. how long does it take for humidity to get back to ambient ~70%? I would like to run it and turn it off at night before sleeping. Also does it still reduce humidity if the windows are open?

    • @lahaciendadeargent2775
      @lahaciendadeargent2775  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, your questions aren't so easy to answer as it really depends on your location and the weather in your area, house insulation etc. In Winter, here in Tasmania, with a lot of fog and rain the humidity rises reasonably quickly but it is still ok to leave off over night and run it during the day, particularly if you have solar installed to offset the power usage.
In Summer here, I don't even have it turned on as we don't have regular high humidity. Quite a dry heat. Whereas, if you were in Queensland with high humid Summers I would imagine you would still be running it.
Easiest way to determine when to run it is purchase a humidity gauge. These are reasonably cheap on eBay ~$20.

@@knightrider6473 Yes, I imagine that it will help. I wish I had one of these a lot earlier in life so as most of my tools stored in the colorbond shed didn't end up rusty. It's amazing how the moisture finds its way into everything if it isn't totally sealed up.

Hi Big Love Go Wild, thanks for your feedback, all feedback is welcome.
Unfortunately for me, I am not inundated with manufacturers and suppliers sending me free stuff to unbox and review, which is fair considering the amount of material I have up at the moment. But any supplier out there who would like to send me something to review, feel free.
Therefore, my videos are about items I have purchased with my own 'hard earned'. So I need to tell a story as to why I purchased the item, do the unboxing, set up / use the item and finish with how it performed, what problems I may have encountered. Did it do what I wanted.
In this way, viewers spending their time watching my videos can see the item operating in a real world situation. This can help them determine if this is a solution that they can use.
      Again, thanks for your feedback.
