    Dear Richard,
I noted that, in the Kotare 1/32 kit, recommendations are made for the installation of control cables. I didn't install them for the reason that you mention, (they can't be seen!), but completely understand that modellers would want to undertake this task- you have made a good job of this.
I was surprised that the control rod for the elevator was missing in the kit, (that was my understanding), and was pleased to see that you added in some detail which connects the lower part of the control column with that lever mounted on the aft side of frame 11.
ANYZ make some cables which you might be able to use for control cables and these have the advantage of being quite stiff and scale size.
As far as I understand it, the wings on all Spitfires could be clipped as there was always a junction at the wing tip to allow this. in the case of clipped wings, a wooden slat was introduced into the gap left by the removal of the standard wing tip. The shortening of the wings allowed for increased roll rate which meant that manoeuvrability was improved for low level roles. You will no doubt have seen the high level extended wings as well which had the opposite effect and were used to present an increased wing surface area at high altitude.
I believe that the hose you mentioned comes from the Oxygen economiser to the pilot and connects on the Starboard side as indicated in the kit instructions. It is unfortunate that much of the detail aft of frame 12 cannot be seen particularly well, but as I say in such circumstances, you will know it is there!
Anyway, I like watching the sort of thoughtful presentations you give and have subscribed- I look forward to tuning in the future.
    Regards,
    Z

Thanks for this input Z. All constructive informative comments are really helpful and welcome. All my builds are a combination of experience of previous builds or an exploration into what can be done. Not all things work but it's fun to try them anyway. I doubt I would do this on the Kotare as I would find it too small for me to work with. Stiff cables would be tricky to use the way I did this as the loop is vital so flexibility is a must. If I do it again I may do it another way though. I love clipped wing Spits. I'm not sure of the direction i'm going with this yet though. NMF may be on the cards as I would like to add some content on how to use foil for this. Great to have you on board :)

Great work Richard. The tube is the oxygen hose. You can just see a bit of it peeking out behind the seat in the bottom picture on page 9.08 and again on page 9.60 of the Monforton book. There's also a close up on page 9.64.
