To be honest, I feel like I'm one of the only people who doesn't feel weirded out at all about Jacob and Emma's relationship... I mean, everyone is all like, 'Ew, she dated his grandfather,' but I'm just sitting here like 'SO THE FRICKIN WHAT! THEY ARE CUTE AND BEAUTIFUL AND I WILL PROTECT THEM TIL THE VERY END.'

I have mixed feelings for this book. When I read the back and looked at the cover I thought it was going to be a psychological horror-mystery novel. It actually started to feel that way in the beginning, but then in the middle of the story it sort of turned into your average teen story. I felt the Jacob and Emma thing was a bit creepy, and I think it would've been better if they had a sibling-like relationship. Don't get me wrong, the concept is very interesting, but it just disappointed me a bit with the random romance.
I used to think it was called Miss Peregrines Home for Regular Children, which in my opinion sounds way creepier

When you started talking about the theory of Jacob and Abe being the same person all I could think about was that episode of Futurama when Fry accidentally became his own grandfather.

I loved how it took Jacob a while to figure out all the clues, although I did think the Jacob&Emma relationship was kinda Insta-love and a little weird haha!
Ally May well i say that the insta love has something to do with how emma sorta was attached to jacob because how she was in love with abe

I read this last week and am currently finishing the last few pages of Hollow City! I loved both books and can't wait until September when the final book comes out! I can't really pinpoint my favourite part, but I LOVED all the amazing pictures throughout the book! I love thrift store/flea market finds and was so pumped when I first found out he had picked them all out himself! Great review thanks so much for sharing!

I'm so glad you put this one up! It is one of my fav books! But as far as fav scenes go I love the part where Jacob looks up when he is in the basement of the modern-day Peregrine house and finds ALL the Peculiar children above him!!

I read threats year in my ATP (advanced testing placement) class and I absolutely loved it!💕 We are currently reading the second one Hollow City and it is even better!! You have to read it too! The movie for the first book comes out December 25, 2016 And I cannot wait my entire class is going to see as a feildtrip

Millard is my fav I was so scared he was gonna die! they're all pretty cool Bronwyn (sp) is the coolest chick ever. the entire time I was reading when the ymbryne word (however it's spelled I have no clue) came up I'd just made a noise in my head bc i gave up attempting to pronounce it hahaha. it'd be like "hey Jacob I'm a bird time person we are called boop & we do very important things" yep ur a boop now ms peregrine. very important bird boop

Eva Green is playing Miss Peregrine and she's currently my FAVE ACTRESS OMG SHES AMAZING. She's the main actress in Penny Dreadful which is also one of my new fave shows. The whole time I read the book I pictured her as Miss P - she's absolutely perfect for the part!
This was an excellent read!
I read this book back in...September 2012, after seeing it in store and deciding I had to have the beautiful/creepy book, haha. I loved this book, and although I wouldn't put it on my top tier of favourite books ever, it's just below those books. I want to re-read it, and then finally read Hollow City, but at this point I think I'll just wait until Library of Souls comes out, and then read them all back-to-back.

I loved this book!
I love Mallards line " I apologize. I seem to have gone and gotten myself shot" and when Emma is interrogating him and hes just like " Be quiet and let me bleed in peace!". 😂😂 And Enoch is my favorite by far I just love his dynamic character and when he gets all frustrated because its hard to raise Martin and aagghhh I CANT HELP!!

Just read this book- it was phenomenal.
Ransoms writing style took me a while to sink into, but once I did, I couldn't put the book down. The beginning of book two has a great start back into the world of characters. Can't wait to finish it.
