Kenji is my favorite because he reminds me of Leo from Heroes of Olympus. I did not like Kenji at first but he grows on you like Leo.

The writing style WAS BRILLIANT. Definitely made the book stand out. I agree with you in that there was never a funny or light moment in the book it freaking remained DEPRESSING throughout the whole thing.

Warner was my favorite character in this book. I loved every scene with him in it he was a breath of fresh air compared to all the gooey lovey dovey mush that was juliette and adam lol idk why I just did not buy their "love" it happened way too quickly for me....

I also can't POSSIBLY see how Warner could be redeemed! He's just so terrible in Shatter Me, and every time I see someone swooning over him I'm just like... WHAT? WHY? Hopefully whatever transition is likely to happen in the next book is realistic or that's just going to be really frustrating.
I agree completely Warner is one of the most unredeemable! characters I've ever read about. Warner is such a sick person, so many times I wanted to do bodily harm to him!

Yes, I read the other two and I've never had that much of a 360 for a character. I LOVE Warner! Adam ticks me off continually in Ignite Me.

Rhysand and be forced to play this part because his mother is being held hostage or smth but if he was really a nice guy he had many chances to prove himself. I mean, beating and tying up Adam? Making Juliette hurt a child while saving it from a torture chamber? What the fuck? How can you be attracted to that? How can you want that for someone???? Gabriella Margarita I liked Warner from the very beginning however he started getting too soft and boring towards the end but nevertheless he is still my favourite character in the series.
I really like the book, but I hate Adam. He's super boring and annoying. I would love that he just died! He's like "oh Juliette you're brave, and it's not your fault, and i always loved you, and bla bla bla..." he's so dumb and dramatic. I hate him. Juliette was a little better, but also super dramatic. The only character that I loved was Warner. He's so cool. All the other characters are not interesting. That's a shame cause the book was very good, and with a good writing style.

Like Ignite Me
I hated this book! The last 7 chapters were pretty good but not enough to improve the book, the amount of times that she would describe something that didn't need to be described over and over... Like breathing. The 'romance' was bullshit, and there was hardly any plot for 3/4 of the book because she's too busy describing the sun as 'high high high'... I think the author thought all these dramatic expressions sounded poetic and it was for a couple of pages but for the whole book, it just sounded like 'filling in the gaps'. Because the book did end quite well (because an actual story was happening) I do want to know what happens next but I can't bring myself to buy the next book and go through it all again.
Is it weird that I think Warner and Adam are related? They aren't even trying to hide the x menness in this book! 😂

I'm about 200 pages into Unravel me and there's SO MANY METAPHORS, and she's reminding herself to breathe, shaking, on the verge of tears, or convinced that she's dying EVERY 5 SECONDS. I really wanna like Juliette, but Kenji is right. She needs to stop whining and realize that everyone around her has problems too. She says something along the lines of 'I want Kenji to see me being strong and confident for once,' or sumn like that. I was thinking "ok but you've never BEEN strong or confident. You're always drowning in sorrow about how difficult it is to live with you ability. BE strong and maybe Kenji and the others will see you that way.
When I read Adam say I love you only halfway in I was like nooooooooo. How? They hardly have conversations other than “but you can touch me” and “you’re so good Juliette” and “his body oh his hot hot hot body against mine tiny frame” bitch we get it. They never have laughs or anything in common. Like if I read this when it came out at thirteen I’d probably see no flaws. Omg and the writing just wasn’t for me. To dramatic to describe everything.

Just finished it. And you know, you're totally right XD I immediately thought about X-men when I read the Omega-point part. But that was also the part I liked most. For the rest of the book she was just whining so much and with all her powers she did'nt even try to escape before the whole Adam shit. She is so stupid and is so thirsty, like for real.

Err.. I really loved the first like 300 pages about this book (until around the James part) and I just could n't handle how "in love" she and _Blech_ were.. they practically didn't know each other. I mean, liking or infatuation is OK in my dictionary, but NOT love! I don't know, maybe I was expecting too much badassery and was faced with a really vulnerable dependable character or I had too much fantasy hope and got a romance novel instead. It's probably just me so.. maybe I'll complete it but I'm not enjoying it. Then again, I have been on a reading slump for a while.. hmm...

Agreed with most of what you said! I liked the poetic writing at the beginning when she's in the cell, and then the writing gets kind of inconsistent. ohgod Adam and Juliette first realizing they "love" eachother was such a confusing moment, and I'm still confused with their relationship even at the end of this book! I felt so frustrated when they kept trying to get at eachother when she was in that room at the army base and mentioned how Warner had a tendency of popping in at unexpected time. I was like,"then wth are you wasting time with this for??!". I really didn't feel their back story was strong enough to make me believe their love. I really just kept reading for the interesting parts about the powers (and her death-hulk powers! :P ) and I want to know where that leads.
DEAR GOD..THANK YOU. Finally, someone to call out all the shit that's been mashed into this book. It made so little sense, that at one point I did wonder if this had actually gone through some kind of editing and where the thought process had been left behind...

I found warner's character very interesting and complex although i hated him as a person. Whenever people are like "team warner" Im just like wtf? but then i read destroy me(the novella) and I couldn't help but love him tbh!

Destroy Me is Warner's redeeming story. Novella 1.5 of Shatter Me. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR BOOKTALK ON UNRAVEL ME. :D I love both of them, but I personallly love Unravel Me better than Shatter Me. Happy reading! :)
omg read destroy me (shatter me 1.5) and then unravel me, it provides more insight to Warners character, and its told from his POV. it really gets u to sympathise for him. and then in unravel me u can sometimes match up the scenes

I've always loved Warner. I remember the second Warner came into the book, I loved him already. I wasn't too interested in Adam, I tried to like him, but I loved Warner more.
I totally agree with all of her opinions except I thought Keni was HILARIOUS!!! I loved him and thought he totally lighted up the mood. Maybe I thought that because I always trusted him, and you were more skeptical of him.

I like the fact that Juliette din't take the food. After reading the amount of books I've read I know that most times in those situations the character gives in and takes what they're offering. I like that she stayed strong throughout the book, but I understand why you dislike her.
YOUR REVIEW IS MY THOUGHTS PUT INTO COHERENCE. juliette was super frustrating for me, the writing style was nice at first but later made me roll my eyes, BUT BUT BUT i loved warner. a lot. he had depth! (didn't like adam.) also, the love story was just... super insta-love. back story wasn't all that convincing to me. i just... didn't love this as much as everyone else did. but it was a good book? fantastic review, though!

If someone hasn't already said this, you definitely need to read Destroy Me, the inbetween novella, before reading Unravel Me. I feel like a lot of the character development would have made no sense to me if I hadn't read Destroy Me, so go do that.

I really like these books. Before reading Unravel Me, you must read Destroy Me. It gives Warner's back story. I don't like Warner any more than you do, but after Destroy Me and Unravel Me, I sympathize with him more. All will be revealed in those two to say the least!

I have read jut Shatter me but as soon as I finished it I already had theories: James is going to die (he's my favorite character I really hope I am wrong), that kid with the electrifying powers is going to die,. Probably Adam and Warner are brothers because they can both touch Juliette, they never talk about their moms and they both hate their fathers, maybe Adam's father faked his death or something and somehow managed to control the world (I don't know how but he did) . Warner grows on you. I think I yelled at my friend for a full ten minutes after I read shatter me because she prefers Warner. But I had to shut my mouth after I read destroy me and unravel me.
Make sure not to skip to chapter 62 in unravel me........ I knew it was an important chapter so me and my friend skipped to it and were crying so hard in the middle of class!!! Ugggg so much frustration?!!!! BOOK 3 NOW!!!
