I swear every time I tried to build shiv focused deck, I get The Time Keeper as the boss in Act 3
"I want lots of events for chests and shops to shrink my deck"
*Immediately goes to the path that has almost none of those*

You can't bloat your deck with bad cards if all the cards are good.
You're thinking about potions backwards. Instead of saving them for a boss, use them liberally because so often you were unable to pick up a new one. If a potion saves you five health, it's basically worth it.
He also skipped 0 energy alchemy
He had white beast statue for a while too. (Relic that guarantees potion drops).
It's the same conundrum a lot of people have playing rpgs. They hoard consumables thinking there'll be a better time to use them
This might actually be the grossest seed I've ever seen. Tungsten rod at the very end to deny boss damage in his hundred card per turn deck was just the cherry on top. I don't know if Trump even realized how gross this was haha
The Tungsten was insane. It saved him from so much damage vs the heart.

And they also shank you in the same exact place multiple times because they're so accurate.
My head canon was that The Silent tripped and a bunch of knives came flying out of their cloak as they hit the ground.

True, but that's the price of insurance. Things don't always go as planned that everything dies on turn 2 consistently like it did >.>
Wraith form is super busted at higher ascension, it's almost a free win, but at this level it's too hard for people to understand how to use it.
Wraithform useless? Do you even think about it? He could have had 9 stacks of intengible in his deck.... That's probably like 100 health per fight...
@@djddm8760 9 ? how do you count that ? wraithform is a power so it cannot be doubled. And it was essentially useless here because too expensive for his 3 mana/turn build.

@@TransparentEclipse shiv decks are no usable at high ascension. One of the lowest win rate deck types in the entire game.

Great video Trump + Jens! But please use potions more! I know you're winning without them, but always saving them for the boss instead of making hallway fights easier is a bad habit to have when you start reaching higher ascension levels.

There's actually an achievement to get your deck down to 5 cards I think. I just had a dropkick infinite run with the ironclad a while ago. With the corruption card and unceasing top it was pretty easy. Started with the remove 2 cards choice as well.

@@Depressed_Spider I did, but the intro literally showed him absolutely demolishing enemies in the end game rooms. I don't want to essentially know he wins at the start of a 50 minute video.
I’m waiting for Trump to hit a high enough ascension level where he can’t just decide to build a deck around the first bad card he sees without getting destroyed in act 1. That said, until then, it’s fun watching silly decks like this work out.
you can counter the debuff of steroid potion with orange pallet and keep the +5 strength.
so, literally EVERY time I try a run with Silent, I fight the Time Eater and just lose so hard. Is there ever a way that Silent can beat Time Eater, or is that boss just an absolute hard counter to Silent?
Have you tried not hard forcing a shiv deck?
@@ChronSoss i finally beat a run with Silent (fought Donu). And it's not just Shiv builds. Discard&Draw gets screwed too, and I so rarely get offered poison. Silent just seems to be built around gaining momentum, from my experiences.
@@baerthegamer3366 I tend to do best with a dexterity focused build with lots of card draw and burst+catalyst. Cards like piercing wail and malaise are a key part of surviving all of the act 3 bosses given silent can get rid of the artifact charges on donu and deca. I highly value footwork, noxious fumes and well-laid plans for this type of strategy. Also, silent has wraith form which is just insane in those fights.

FWIW, I just got to the Heart for the first time tonight, with the Defect. Dude's really awesome. I had a Power synergy going.
@@baerthegamer3366 power synergies is how defect scales into the late fights with things like defragment and capacitor with frost orbs, I really love defect it's my favorite character. I've cleared every character on ascension 20, if you're serious about getting better, check out the youtuber/streamer jobs. He has full games and guides on his channel that are incredibly informative.

I got inspired to start a shiv run after seeing this video. But I’ve just found a Blade dance card and it only puts 2 shivs in my hand. I’m playing on console. Is the console version different??
Game was quite recently updated, not sure if the patch has reached consoles yet. Tried updating?
@@jon9828 There’s no update for STS on console, for me at least. I guess it hasn’t reached console yet for some reason.

He's playing on Ascension level 6. On Ascension level 6, you start runs with -10% life.

The funny part is that shiv decks were usually considered bad decks because they require a number of relics and cards to properly work... but either that doesn't apply nowadays or Trump managed to get lucky once.
And I thought my latest run with shivs was an easy win... I don't know how you managed to be so lucky, but just so you know, even when you don't go for overkill the shiv synergy is already quite broken. Playing poison is a rookie mistake, once you've tried shivs there is not much point going for poison anymore.
Sigh... I tried a shiv deck ... by the time I got to Deca and Donu I could generate lots of shiv’s but had never once been offered any cards that buffed the shiv’s. Turns out that dealing only 4 each shiv didn’t quite win the battle LOL

Ive found that wraith form with a poison deck is a bad choice, especially when the boss shrugs off their poison halfway through the fight.
You need more poison. And more wraith form.
Stacking a bunch of poison and then killing with catalyst is very good. With most bosses you can time it such that they can't clear the person because they die.
To my knowledge only time keeper (and champ?) clear poison as an action after they drop below half hp.
Poison is definitely a viable offense and wraith is definitely a viable defense.
@@jon9828 funnily enough ive just cleared with the silent using the same shiv strat trump went for, worked a lot more easily than poison. Although i made the mistake of picking the relic that gave you a card after a card is exhausted.
