One thing I learned from your video is that I can get ginormous biceps by walking around wiping down cars.
It has to be one of the most stylish EV manufacturing car companies. Their designs are so hot. The missing back window has helped make the rear of the car look so sleek and very unique.
So true. I can’t wait to get mine delivered end of the year. ❤
Great looking car. Polestar is absolutly on fire, very impressive development in just a few years
They are probably on fire since they're Chinese cars built in China.
This car reminds me of a sleeker (and smaller obviously) more futuristic BMW X6. I adore it. In terms of looks this is the first car that completely blows Tesla away (not that the other polestars weren't prettier than Tesla, but this one is truly leagues beyond).
I think this is a bit downgrade. The interior…😢
Agreed. Best looking compact ev from polestar for now
Hey Jordan, it's great to see you back in front of the camera. I appreciate your journalistic style.
I'm fine with no rear window as long as the rear camera is 100% reliable.
Is there a washing nozzle on the rear camera otherwise it’s not a safe solution?
If the rear camera is as laughably bad as the Polestar 2 camera in the dark, there’ll be plenty of these with accident damage…
It isn't. It will never be 100% reliable.
@@ti-guybegj5888 No dirt in the design program.
I’m not…
It was great to see Jordan again. He has great delivery while being detailed. I hope to see more of his work.
Jordan, I think that you are fantastic in front of the camera and it's refreshing to not have to look at someone who wears a huge sweatshirt no matter how hot or cold the weather might be!
A massive explosion of master piece of machinery.
Great job, Jordan! You are a natural, looking forward to more reviews from you!
Thanks, Jordan, for another RELEVANT video! Kyle has gotten SO FAR OUT INTO THE WEEDS with his $100,000 to million-dollar "race cars," I've virtually stopped watching Out of Spec content over the past year or more. Thanks for bringing me back!
Another great video from Jordan, so glad he's back on the channel!
I agree. Jordan is a superb presenter. And he managed to cover everything I was curious about.
Polestar is really going in an interesting direction. Building out a real portfolio of vehicles. I like the numbering system, but it should make more sense in terms of size of car IMO. Hoping they keep the 2 in the line-up as an "entry-level" hatch long term. Also let's see if they are brave (foolish?) enough to bring a real wagon to the market. That's the dream!
I think it makes sense as it’s the order they are released
@@chidorirasenganz but as a casual consumer then the numbers mean nothing. Does it really matter to anyone what model was released first? What happens in a refresh or replacement just keep going up? Polestar 22? Is that 2022, 2032 model year? Very much disagree.
@@TuomasLeone the numbers refer to the models when released. I doubt they will make it that high when they've already got all the major bases covered aside from a truck or van.
The Polestar 2 has already been refreshed. It's simply the 2024 Polestar 2.
Considering the advancements between each model I'd say the model number matters unless you're decided on a particular vehicle type. The Polestar 4 is more advanced than any of there vehicles so far. It builds on the 1, 2 and 3 models while bridging the gap between the 5 & 6 coming next.
I was there, too, as a happy Polestar owner. Was a fun event and I enjoyed seeing the 5 and riding in the Polestar 3 & 4. Thanks for the invitation, Polestar, and thanks to Jordan and OoSR for another great review. I'm considering the 4 as the future replacement of my 2. BTW, my husband's Silverado has the camera rear-view mirror and he never switches it to the glass mirror mode, so it must be good enough even in the rain and at night. FWIW, the Polestar team member driver for my ride-along mentioned that the rear-view mirror can flip to mirror mode so the driver can make eye-contact with the rear-seat passengers/back-seat children.
Love this car!!!!!!!
The no back glass is nice for security. Prevents smash and grabs
The backup camera worries me long term in the case that it may break
Especially in San Fran Poop 💩 Sco
@@rishinarang9966how would they break?
electrical failure or something. I think that glass would have been a sensible back up option incase something fails@@kennyb123
@@kennyb123the same way that any electrical component on any car can and do break or fail.
Thanks for showing us this beautiful car! 👍
I prefer the camera mirror anyway! Seems like the experiment to get you more rear space was a success.
4:00 Polestar design chief in the background lol
Thanks for explaining the digital rear view.
Very cool beautiful looking car. The camera rear view in mirror is even better view than looking back through a mirror view
Facts love it Also! Hope most people see the truth also.
I can’t remember the last time I’ve looked through the rear glass window to check. I’ll look over both shoulders to check for oncoming cars, but I always use a backup camera, as it gives a wider, clearer view behind me. Rear window or not, who cares.
Amazing design. Good walk through of the car.
Great video, as always!
The concept of rear view camera and no rear window is 100% right, but the rear mirror screen shouldn't sit in the roof but be integrated in the center infotainment screen.
Why, you say? Progressive glasses.
Yes, progressive glasses.
A lot of people ion the target group have progressive glasses, allowing you to focus (your old and tired 40+yo eyes) on things far away in the upper region and nearer things in the lower region of the glass. For these people (yes, me included) focusing on something less than a meter away that sits in the roof just doesn't work without changing glasses or pointing your nose upward (and thus losing focus on the road).
What polestar should do is to present an option in the menus, mirroring (haha pun not intended) the rear view in an area of the center screen.
In the 60’ and 70’ Renault and Citroen had the rear window mirror placed on top of the front panel. Some was adjustable in height up/down on a rod from top to button of the window ;)
@@steffenjensen9350 Yes I know. Note that a real mirror placed low would work just as bad with progressive glasses as a digital mirror placed high :-)
Do laser and get rid of the glasses. 🤓. I got glasses and this is no problem for me. I just think people with glasses gotta step up there game. Eat some eggs and meat and get better eyes.
@@andreasl4507You have no idea what progressive glasses are for, do you?
Love everything about it!
I like the way Jordan speaks
Love how this car look
As long as the rear view is good, i'm fine with cameras, might take some getting used too. It does make the rear storage bigger. NVH better too indeed
LOVE YOUR POLESTAR HAT!!
It will constitute a qualitative leap and shift in design and engineering in the automotive industry. The best shape ever, these are the cars of the future
I recently added PSNY shares. Hopefully they fixed the gap variations between panels and doors. Paint quality is amazing. The exterior and interior is just stunning. 😍
Polestar's only issue is their pricing. P2 and P4 should start a bit lower imo.
Agree, especially P2, when you consider that it's a compromised car in terms of interior space. However, in their latest earnings call, they said their gross margin is only 1%, so they can't afford to reduce prices without taking a loss on every car they make.
I actually love this car as it is they could totally release it like this and it would be gr8
Great video, so we'll executed on audio and video considering the space and that other people are there. High quality.
Thanks Jen! 🎉
Beautiful cars!
Love the digital rearview camera
Good video. How was the ride height? Comparable to anything? How strange would it be to reverse/parallel park in this?
I really like the rear view camera
I’m actually digging this new model. Glad they’ve move the infotainment screen horizontally. I’m looking to get my first car after 12 years without one and am excited to see what electric cars are becoming. Was considering Tesla X but is it really worth it for the price?!
it's really beautiful.
my next car for sure
I really like this - I’ve had a Polestar 2 for 3 years now, which is going back before Xmas. I wanted a Polestar 3 as a replacement but that was delayed until Q4 2024, so I went with a BMW iX, which is being delivered in 3 weeks.
For my next car I’m looking at a Lotus Eletre, Polestar 3 or this Polestar 4.
Polestar making some desirable cars !
Fantastic interior
Front seats without adjustable headrests though !
May look smart but can be a safety issue.
It isn’t difficult to add a pressurised water jet to clean the review camera mirror. Land Rover has been fitting a washer jet to their back up cameras for years now, not to their Clearsight rooftop rear view cam mirrors because you don’t need one that high up. Also on more recent cars JLR allows you to view the back up cam all the time while driving if you want to.
Most premium car drivers usually don't look at what's behind them anyways so I don't think the camera instead of rear view mirror will make any difference. Really nice car!
😂.. or in front
Really excited for this car, wish you had mentioned the ride quality when they took you out.
I really want to know if this has an integrated front and rear dash cam. Dash cam is a must for me. I would normally be cool with installing myself. But, without a rear window, I need Polestar to have one that comes with the car.
I actually like the idea of having no back glass. It’s quirky but offers a lot of benefits. I would consider one but efficiency is such a let down. Just throwing a big battery at it is not a valid solution. This get about the same range as my Kona with 35 extra KWhs. (Yes I understand it’s bigger and more powerful but still.)
You do know that the kona is that efficient because its light!? Kia and Hyundais large cars have unfortunately been seriously inefficient. I recently drove a Kia EV9 here in Sweden and it got 21 kWh/100km at parking lot speeds which is awful. The polestar 3 manages 21 kWh/100 at motorway speeds…
missing back window, super weird... I don't know if I could get use to it? is there blind spots LOL Great job you guys!!
Hammer Design.
Is the camera on the rear window heated? For example, in Norway it often happens that the snow that falls is slightly wet and in the morning at in the morning it is very frosty, so there will be a lot of ice on the rear camera that cannot be removed manually. Did the manufacturer remedy this somehow?
Need to drive in mucky weather to see if the cameras instead of window get mucked up
The camera is on the roof and it doesn't really ever get dirty up there from my experience.
I would love polestar 4 to have rear glass. They acually can make the panaromic glass all the way to the back , but the trunk door will be a lot smaller .
Does it have double glazed windows both front and back?
Getting one
My lease is up on my P*2 at the end of 2024. Im really excited by this car, but I’m also kinda holding my breath for a revamped 2 on a dedicated platform.
Great video. My next car! (Big sis to my Polestar2)
Loved the car!!!!
Given how crappy the rear visibility is in most modern cars? Digital rear view mirror for the win!
If I can get passed the lack of physical rear-window, think I might trade-in my P2 for this.
Keep it numeric.
Can you guys do a video on the polestar 5 that is there without any camo
Why does the trunk have a privacy shade if there is no glass to look into the trunk??
You mentioned the vents at the back are 'fake'. I wonder if they may actually have some purpose for aero, to send the air away from the back of the car?
absolutely, every single line or corner have to deal with aero. Somethimes big purpose or small but shouldn't slow down aero
As a @GenesisUSA GV-60 owner the moment we got to the headlights I was rolling my eyes and muttering “how original”, then we got to 2:40 and I 😂
Lower side trim to achieve slimming effect… even less original
Electro chromatic roof is cool.
Bar taillight.
Jordan ❤❤❤ I love your reviews. You need to do them more often.
Pretty cool. Would absolutely love it IF it sat lower and was a fsatback.
I have the Polestar 2 and it’s a great drive so far, but I’m definitely upgrading to the Polestar 4 once my lease ends. Really don’t mind the lack of rear window, but I love SUV coupes and this feels like it’s the perfect combo size of sporty crossover and big sedan.
Looks like the almost 5 year old Jaguar I pace has a doppelganger... especially side profile and back
Digital rear mirror is all I use anyways, hope the dynamic range of the camera is good enough for the night. May render car useless if lcd breaks. What’s great is harder for thieves to break window and steal belongings
Finding a place to take a polestar for service is kinda wild though, no? In NY state, I think there’s one location outside of Manhattan, just 2 in the entire state. And I don’t see a single Polestar location in the USA that exists west of Cincinnati. How does that work? Can you take it to Volvo?
Thanks for the review. When you are assessing space, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us some context. We can see you are not fat or especially broad, but what is your height? We don't have the pleasure of knowing you personally, so don't know if you are 5ft or 7ft. Just saying 'this is fantastic... there is so much headroom' makes little sense without a frame of reference. What is it like if you are over 6ft 5? Average sized viewers probably don't care as they rarely struggle for space or subsequent comfort, but those of us gifted with extra height, width or odd body shapes really want to know how comfortable it might be for our needs.
I do hope this is taken constructively, I have no intention of knocking what is a very watchable and informative video from one of my favourite channels.
I loved your Polestar range recap at the end, thanks.
Promising vehicle. Like the design, it's so weird in the back that that's what attracts me to it
Not better than the BMW iX, but somehow close. I would consider it
16:11 I thought that was lil durk in the background lmao
It really looks like a solid built car. If it was an SUV I would seriously consider it. Intresting design though......
Thicker bezels on displays add a feel of solidity.. I s a Volvo type thing and I hope they don't drift too far away from the core look and feel
Front lights very Urus looking which is a compliment.
I think it no rear window and camera is great! If there was a rear view window it would be limited visibility anyway.
Does anyone remember the Jaguar i-Pace? One might be excused for believing they just tweaked that design and did something weird with the rear hatch. I prefer the look of the i-Pace.
Good to get rid of the rear window as long as I can get something in return -- that is to get more storage room in the trunk. I only look at the rear view mirror, not the rear window anyway.
What I don't understand is, without a rear glass but with the digital mirror which uses a camera, what happens when the camera lens is wet during rain or snow? That camera will be useless which means the digital rear view mirror is also useless. Am I wrong in thinking this?
Heavy rain on the way in?
8:34 Isn’t that upholstery extremely thick?
Jordan go open the blazer EV charge port. It opens even slower.
I love the car, the looks and specs. The fast charging at max 200kwh/400volt charging is a missed change. Only the higher models will get the 800volt charging. I hope with an update with 2025/2026 will upgrade to 800volt.
Please tell me you’re doing one for the polestar 3 performance too. I have one ordered. It’s coming second quarter 2024. I can’t wait.
I wonder if there are regulatory restrictions in the US about no rear window.
No. Think cargo vans.
I would prefer a longer(wider) rear view monitor device to feel width of the rear window.
looks like the dual motor is 316 miles of range, id guess the rear wheel drive is between 330-350.
22:03 75% 382 km, which is 237mi, but I think it's wltp and not epa
Polestar is one of the best Chinese brands!
The usb-c is labeled with 60w I believe
On exterior styling: 4 > 3.
If I knew nothing about either models, I’d guess the 4 was the pricier Polestar.
Amazing car. This will probably be the fiercest rival to model 3
ok. so What if I want to look at the back passengers through the mirror but its just the camera feed? Also the trunk looks stupid. I wish they'd just admit they couldnt hack it instead of trying to sell this compromise
you can switch camera to be a mirror to see rear passangers...
The rear view mirror as a display is awful. We have a conventional rear view mirror on our Rav4 that can be turned into a display when you flip a switch. The problem is that when you are driving, your eyes are focused at a long distance. Glancing at a conventional mirror doesn't change that focus. When the mirror is a display your focus has to change to a much shorter distance and it's uncomfortable. I don't like using ours that way for that reason. I can't imagine using display mirror all the time.
Interesting point I hadn't considered. I suppose you get used to it and use the side mirrors for most stuff anyway, but definitely something worth knowing.
So where is the logic in allowing digital rear view mirror but not side view?
No Gas in the Trunk would be a dealbreaker for me, because of our Dog. The same reason not going for a Model 3.
Head designer Max Missoni is talking to an entourage in the beginning of the video. Would be interesting to hear what he's saying.
Polestar phone?! 😍
When did Rob McElhenney join Out of Spec?
