    I’m sure the cashier is gonna kill you before Citi does

    Citi cards are becoming more competitive. Hope the round up benefit lasts.

  • @ProudMoney
    @ProudMoney 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah, you're looking at a 10% rebate on a $1 purchase but the round up is less impressive once you get past a $3 or $4 purchase. Sort of a strange card, would've expected something a bit different. They definitely want to change behavior, though, and get you to use the card for small purchases that might otherwise be cash purchases.

  • @ryanfield431
    @ryanfield431 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    If this is how Citi expects to compete in the marketplace with Chase's trifecta or Amex's trifecta then they just failed miserably. They should boost the other spend to 1.5X back or this is going nowhere.

    • @SlickReviews
      @SlickReviews 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan Field yeah. There’s not much use launching new cards if they’re not as good as the other offerings

    • @ryanfield431
      @ryanfield431 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. Especially with Chase's 5/24 rule, I wouldn't use a slot for the same benefits I already get or can get with a better currency.

    • @akin242002
      @akin242002 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not really. The Citi Thankyou Premier covers all forms of travel, car gas, dinning, and entertainment. Adding this new card covers groceries. These are the main spends most consumers spend on besides rent/mortgage.

    • @ryanfield431
      @ryanfield431 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agent_WestCoast A That doesn't address the fact that this card is just like the Amex Everday card. So if one wants they can just get this card's perks with a better currency.
      Also, other than entertainment, one can get most of those covered by other cards for no AF or it is already a part of their set up so getting the Citi Premier would be meaningless. If one is running the Chase trifecta set up, travel and dining is covered by a Sapphire card with better returns on dining regardless of the Sapphire card one has. Gas can be covered by the Freedom for 5X back either by it being a category in a quarter like it is now or by purchasing gift cards. Groceries would take on the same approach as gas. And entertainment would only yield a 0.4% greater return than the CFU meaning one would have to spend $14,435 on entertainment to break even over the CFU.
      If they increase the other spend to 1.5X back that makes this all more doable for Citi. Although, I'd still consider it a fail because the CF is so valuable and not having a 5X card earning TYP makes it a fail, imo.

    • @ryanfield431
      @ryanfield431 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In short, even if one prefers the Citi ThankYou Premier as their go to travel card, the Amex Everyday is still a better compliment to just that card. AND the set up still pales in comparison to the Chase trifecta.

I am a low spender at this time so it makes sense b/c of the round up. Then in a few years product change again to the better Citi cards and transfer all my points. Currently a student. let me know if this is a plan you would recommend? also am I able to do the product change from this card to a better citi card and keep/transfer all my points? Michael your 1million percent correct that rounding off is most likely going to be for the first year Just like Discover has there cashback/points match and alliant Visa gives you 3% and no annual fee just for the first year so will be the rounding off.
      This card except for the Jet blue transfer this card isn't in the same category as the Double cash card.
      looking at these 2 cards I would call this card the rewards card the simplicity and the double cash would be like a capitol1 card?

      What I meant to say, is either a grocery card, or add grocery as permanent category for an existing card. Maybe 2% on groceries with the Freedom Unli.

    • @marksantucci4230
      @marksantucci4230 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JC907AK you will never see a grocery card just like you will never se a restaurant card. the only grocery card is a check cash card which you get coupons on certain items that expire but you would get it for a month coupons usually last. but you can't get 5% cash back and redeem for a gap gift card or Barnes and nobles gift card or transfer points to airlines that you will never see but you can get a grocery card which would be able to use at that store and you would get coupons but not for purchasing.
      with the Chase Freedom unlimited which is a cash back card you do get 1.5% cash back on all grocery stores. with the Freedom you get 5% on rotating categorys?
      With the American Express Gold is 4 points per dollar spent on grocery stores not Walmart, target, Bj's or Sams but actual grocery stores?
      you can look into this card if you want to?

    From what I've heard, you can transfer the points to other thankyou cards, such as the Premier or the Prestige. That way, you can transfer points to other airlines or redeem them for 1.25 cents. Conversely, you can move your points to this card from the Prestige to redeem them for 1.1 cents instead of 1 cent.

      you can up grade your Chase Freedom to Chase Sapphire reserve
      you can up grade The American Express everyday card to the platinum so since this is a Citi card yes you can upgrade if it was the American Airlines then the answer would be no. but yes you can up grade?

    what about if you get your car oiled and lubed and at the dealership so let's say you spend 70.00 what do you get back? Now you went to a spa and with tip you spent 100.00 what do you get back?
    does this card have any foreign trans action fees?

      Call and ask when the statement month ends and if is the 15th of the month, pay it the 14th and you won't pay interest or a monthly minimum charge.

      Nerd moment I would say Citi is a major bank looking at Credit Shifus video you saw that this card can transfer points to the no annual fee Thank you preferred card with chases Freedom card you can't transfer there cash back to the basic chase sapphire just the 2 sapphires with the annual fee the regular sapphire and sapphire reserve? when I went to there bank I was looking at the Citi thank you premiere and Preferred the Premiere has a sign up bonus of spending 4,000 in 3 months get 50,000 points annual fee 95.00 waved the first year. citi preferred no sign up bonus with capitol1 venture1 spend 1,000 in 3 months you get 20,000 miles at 1.25 miles on all purchases including restaurants the citi preferred gets 2x on dining and entertainment with no sign up bonus but has a 3% foreign trans action fee same as the basic sapphire but Venture1 has 0 Foreign trans action fee but only earns 1.25 miles.
      so looking at Citi double cash you get 2% cash back all across the board Bank Of America offers 3% on gas stations, 2% on grocery stores and whole sale clubs. Capitol1 Quicksilver offers 1.50 cash back all across the board and no foreign trans action fee with Citi theres a 3% fee? we don't know Capitol1 may have better redemption of gift cards more selection and better quality ? then again it may be the same.? with the Chase Freedom unlimited you can transfer your cash back to one of the Sapphires not the basic but the regular and reserve which have annual fees? this is up to you? I would say Citi is a good bank and you should look at one of there cards?

    Hey Ben, I'm thinking about product changing my Capital One platinum but I'm also carrying a balance at this moment. I wanted to know if you can product change while carrying a balance? Or is it much preferred to have no balance and then call to product change? Also is it possible to product change the platinum to a savor one card (the version with no annual fee) or is it only limited to the quicksilver or venture. (Other people are also open to answer this as well)

      FilmPassion Productions I product changed from capital one platinum $79 annual fee to the Quicksilver card no annual fee in December. I had payed off the balance first. I had a choice between Quicksilver and Venture. The Savor card was not an option. Hope it helps. No hard pull, no annual fee, and 1.5 cash back.

    Great upgrades to Prestige when the hell is the Sapphire Reserve getting some upgrades?

      Sir because of the ur point boost. The sapphire does not need any boost. Notice citi took the boost away when they increased the prestige to 5x back.

    Hey guys, I need your advice. So, I am a new immigrant to the US. I don't have any credit history yet. Just got approved for Discover It Secured Card and I set a deposit of 300$. Now I am thinking should I get another secured card with Capital One or not? I mean why I should or why I should not? And one more question...I don't mind to put even more then 300$ as a deposit to increase my credit line..but will it help me in any way to build a score higher or faster? Pls advise! Thanks!
