    "wips with no deadline, linger on forever, work on when I feel like it" sounds like pretty much all my wips! They are all forever wips!!

    I am also a process knitter, but I don’t have any forever WIPs. What a pleasant surprise that the log cabin squares are the same size as the pinwheels!

    O. M. G!!! Finally someone who is like me and enjoys the process most of all!!!👏😊. I love you for saying it out loud! I am watching this while I’m ripping out yarn from a purse I started about 30 some years ago that I never finished. I am in the process of making a scrap buster blanket and I really need and want a section of yarn from the unfinished purse! 😅. I hate not having a project started that I can’t just sit down and pick up to work on! Thank you!!!

      One thing I need to get better about is frogging old projects to rescue the yarn. What pattern are you using for your scrap buster blanket?

    I have 3 forever WIPS. A Cozy Memories Blanket, a Corner to Corner crochet blanket and a Granny Stripe crochet blanket. The only one getting any love is my Cozy Memories Blanket. Love them all but trying to get that one done first. ❤️ Love all of your scrappy projects.

    • @karchermakes
      @karchermakes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did have a granny stripe too, but I frogged it in favor of the Corner to corner blanket. There’s just too many good scrappy patterns!

    Great vlog Andrea! I got a lot of ideas from it thank you. Admittedly I am a product knitter and luckily for me I’m also a fast knitter. lol I have been wanting to have a blanket project going but haven’t found the “right” one yet. You may have just helped me remedy that. 😉

    I'm crocheting a scrappy blanket, it's all done in hdc. I use two strands of yarn held together throughout and it's getting pretty heavy. I think I'm not even half done yet. But since I ended up a diabetic (about a year ago) I get so cold and needed a think blanket. This one will do the trick! I'm using white yarn throughout held together with mostly pastel strands of yarn.

      I love the idea of holding white together with other colors. I imagine that is going to be so cozy!

    I saw your title about scrappy projects and decided to watch, then I heard you say you were from south central PA, I live in Waynesboro PA. I love your projects, especially the ones that are like quilting blocks. I’m going to start a scrappy project soon with granny square hexagons. I am kinda jealous of all your sock yarn scrap projects, I knit socks very slowly, so I don’t have a ton of scrap yarns yet. But then I saw you were an ex dyer.

      I collect a lot of minis too, from advents and sets. They're a great way to build lots of color in your stash without committing to full skeins (and then having to actually use the full skein just to get to the leftover!). My last video talks a little about managing all the leftovers if you'd like to give it a watch!

    Im 50/50 if both i loooovd the craft itself i love crocheting straight for hours…but im always so excited to get my wips finished asap same goes for my paintings id rather finish them than keeping them on the side for to long but not for the sake of finishing them but experimenting with nee techniques n stuff dame goes for crocheting and my cloaks n stuff i freehand is super exciting to work on also super relaxing to sit back and enjoy that „me-time“ but for the same part i want to get that project over and done with to actually be able to wear it (currently working on a mixed media crochet cloak inspired by a tv series… ordered 65 skeins of yarn couse its going to be maaaaassive!)

    My intentional forever WIP is the Heirloom Quilt cardigan that I'm making with scraps, my non-intentional forever WIPs are sweaters that are on the "sea of stockinette" stage... I'm simultaneously a product and a process knitter, I love having an end result but I also get antsy whenever I hit a lot of plain stockinette knitting or plain crochet stitches. I still work on them, but not often. My original process was to start the yoke of a colorwork or lace sweater whenever I split for sleeves on another project so I'd have both an easy and a harder active WIP, except that's now resulted in many sweaters stuck on the body and I don't know how to dig myself out of this mess haha

    • @karchermakes
      @karchermakes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I know exactly what you mean with the sweaters! I'm thinking about trying the "work on this project for 15 or 30 minutes a day" just to get some added progress on things. Something to think about for sure!

    Love the idea of combining the pinwheel and log cabin squares. Would like to hear what you think of subscription services - I do like Row One. There's a couple blankets - Cozy Comfort and Coziest Memories that are needing some attention here. Good podcast.

    I have two forever WIPs and both are granny stripe blankets in fingering weight yarn. I know if I focused on one of them I could have it done in a month…I may need to do that after I finish my current sock WIP. 2024 is the year I return to monogamous crafting!

    • @karchermakes

    • @theminimalknitter
      @theminimalknitter 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@karchermakes I started out as a monogamous crafter-crochet and knit…it wasn’t until I started watching podcasts/vlogs that my habits changed. Then I realized how stressed out I was with too many WIPs and “trying to keep up with the Jones’” and I said no more. I can only work on one thing at a time and I want to finish what I start. If I don’t like the pattern or project, I will rip it out without questioning myself and I have been so much more relaxed with my crafting. If you want to join me in monogamous crafting, I will cheer you on!

    I just started crocheting in 2020 and would love to learn to knit. (Maybe after I retire 😁) I don't know if you would call them forever WIPs, but I have several blankets that I started when I started crocheting that have never been finished. I'm hoping 2024 is the year I get them done. However, I'm trying to make baby blankets for as many of the new babies in the family as I can, so they keep getting put off. But the baby blankets make me happy to finish, so its worth the wait to get back to my other WIPs.

      It's such a great pattern, you won't be disappointed! I didn't mention this in the video, but it's very flexible with color management. It works well even for the tiniest little scraps! I chose to keep my chevrons symmetric, but you don't have to. Thanks for watching!

    Have you given thought to using your pinwheel squares as the centrepiece to a rectangular or square Afghan & make a complementary colour as a border & then use the log cabin squares all the way around that project and then finish with that same complementary border colour?? 😊

      @karchermakes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Those are two patterns that I haven’t actually utilized yet, but when I was working on my own #stashbusting_WIP Project, and I saw your two designs it was an instinctive thought that came to mind with that idea. @@karchermakes also, a good way to get an idea about placement and ideas might be too explore traditional & modern #quiltdesigns & perhaps it will give you an idea on placement and distance between the two patterns with the neutral border space between to provide effective balance of colour and shape/design.
