Man deck switches and double printed deck, the strange noises coming from the audio, plus weird cuts tells you he deck is gimmickry, either tape or magnets, the level of engineering for this trick tells you she definitely had help. It’s brave to go on this show, but there’s a rule that P&T must give a trophy if they’ve never seen a method used before even if they know what it is. You don’t think it’s strange thy didn’t put forth a guess when does that ever happen?

The only obvious part was when she held up the piece of paper, switching the printed deck for a real one with the other hand under the table. Everything else blew my mind. Well done.
watch the last bit, she's spreading the cards but the deck never leaves her hand. it's a few cards from the bottom printed to look like they're a whole deck spread out and bound together. just enough room for the 8 of hearts to slide between and look how carefully she holds it up.
Yup. Rewatching the video I also noticed, even if really swiftly and subtle, her getting the printed one in the first place and folding the cards and putting them under/in table with left hand. But, I assume she has a camera and printer in the table, like how else is that possible, but I dont see when that picture is taken
When she switched out the deck for the perfectly ordered one it also wasn't too hard too see, both because she was obviously reaching something with her right hand and she said "watch the deck". If you don't listen and watch the other hand, you see her switching
also it seems to be some camera magic as well, as with many tricks on the internet, they literally don't show when she obviously replaces the card deck lined up with printed copy. I really don't believe this show, that the ones holding it, good magicians, would get so easily fooled by this and many others, especially seeing it in person and not via camera which doesn't show it all...
4:13ish you can see her right hand return, cupping the stacked deck. You can even see cards in her hand. I'd bet it's a forced pick, but if not she has 52 pre-set decks. Either way, she also pre-printed fan and spread photos to match. That fixes the "how could she get a photo shoot and print it off so fast" question. As for Penn & Teller... if they couldn't figure this out, they're idiots. And they aren't idiots. So they let a kid with some decent sleight of hand work and a good banter routine, win. And they can justify it because they aren't 100% sure if it was a forced pick or 52 pre-sets.
: "You don't get a trophy for coming up with a great plot and a great idea. You get a trophy for fooling us, which you did." Classic Penn. And yes, your act is fantastic and great fun to watch. Enormously entertaining and engaging. :)
and yet they gave her a trophy for all those reasons. Her sleight of hand was sloppy and I caught everything. I'm not P&T, so it amazes me that they didn't also catch literally everything
@@kazikoFPV Well remember that Penn and Teller are quite far away, whereas you and I are watching from a zoomed in camera. The high level magicians pull them close to the table. those impress me. I absolutely love layered “answers” to a magic problem. This was masterful. Holding up the paper in the middle was great misdirection to set up the last fix. AMAZING!
Don't ever stop doing magic! You've got a real gift, and it's a real accomplishment to fool P&T. When I think that because of this, you get to appear in their Las Vegas show, it just blows me away.
I love how the routine plays into the audience. Setting up expectations, letting them sit just a few seconds before upending them with yet another twist.
The most magical thing about magic is knowing it's not magic, but being mystified anyway. I don't know how she did it, but man was it entertaining to watch.
Not knowing is the best part. You keep trying to find the trick but you don't see it and that's wonderful. It doesn't matter if it's a big thing or a small card trick, if it's mentalism... it's great to be fooled.
You make a good point. People who thought David Blane's old street magic was actual magic and he was calling on special powers are a lazy audience. I don't have to think - he's just magical! It's much more of a compliment to say I'm watching with full attention, knowing you are going to try to fool me, and, damn, you did anyway!
Agreed. Knowing the skill and misdirection that is being employed against you is great. You know she's doing something when her hand disappears from view under the table but it's so smooth that you don't see it.
WOW! Amazing trick and such a big display of professionalism that sometimes not even “grown ups” can show! Loved every single bit of it. Congrats! Greetings from the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴
So young, and she fooled two of the best. P and T were delighted to present the trophy. Their generosity in hosting this show ultimately provides audiences a better product overall.
Coming from a fellow magician, this was a great trick and a couple endings fooled me as well on first watch. She’s going to be big time famous, if that’s what she wants. Either way, she’s going to be successful in life!
Didn't fool me at all, but I did enjoy the presentation as it kinds throws the false illusions in your face in a reversal kind of way still leaving you with, htf?
@@andrelinoge9415 The first trick is an unusual twist to a very old and basic card trick. The rest is playing with misdirection in a fresh and genius way too.
That is a really good magic routine. The ending got me. I was like "Ok I didn't see the paper cutout thing coming the first time...that's cool trick" then BAM I was fooled a 2nd time by the same thing.
I actually noticed 2nd one twice, but couldn't fully put my finger on it until I rewatched. First mistake she made was that she accidentally moved the printout on one side and entire thing movies, this was dead giveaway that it was one piece and second one was the top camera view, where you can clearly see the real deck of cards still in her hand. However as I said .. i still had to re-watch it. I knew something was off, but had to rewatch to understand what was going on. This is why most magicians hate it when people record them.
Not 100 percent but the last wasn’t a switch because of the way she picked up the cards. They are connected and hang like a daisy chain. If she picked them up any other way they would have fallen apart.
What an inspiration you're going to be to so many. A lot of little girls now think they can do magic and be a magician because of you. That might be the best part of all. Well done!
I loved the entire act. It's very impressive that she created this routine. I always remember this act because you can hear Alyson say, "Stay in school," at the end.

Also, props to all of the positive comments, seriously people I kept waiting to see the hateful trolls posting comments, but I gave up after scrolling through half of them. Congratulations! Great trick which gets progressively harder to figure out. First part was pretty obvious, 2nd one was bit blurry, and by the end I was fooled like a baby - and that's with few rewinds. I can only imagine Penn and Teller missed things as they didn't even expect so many stages of the trick in the first place. Really well done

This was a great trick, original, I liked how there were the 4 different endings, each adding on to the previous and each blowing my mind. Then learning that Amanda invented it - I'm even more impressed! Can't want to see more from this magician.
Well no, there was one ending. The others were false endings to let your guard down. In reality the final paper cutout was the only ending. And yes, I'm the jerk who has to be pedantic.
@@1979genius She could have stopped the trick at each of the four endings. Each trick carried over the selected card. Except...I get the feeling she forced the selected card and then swapped between a number of decks.
What a cute routine! Truly original. This girl is aware of her strengths and leveraged them here. The misdirection of having a black table with a black mat was fantastic! She didn't even use it. The reaching under the table for absolutely nothing multiple times. The inconsistencies like the never ending deck spread which was discounted for cuteness. You don't need large hands to do sleight of hand. Just the concept. I enjoyed everything about this routine
Like you, I believe she employed a variety of misdirections - but not the "ooh, look over there" kind. The too-obvious* things you mentioned were designed to lull Penn & Teller - and she did, Penn said they relaxed when they knew ending after ending. I think if she'd done a short routine with little plot they wouldn't have been fooled. *Too-obvious to P&T, of course.
I'm very smart and somewhat autistic. I look at things in different ways and sometimes see things that Penn & Teller missed. BUT, in this case, you fooled me too! The whole time, I was thinking, okay, even if she didn't full THEM, she fooled ME. But you fooled them, too! This is a REALLY astounding effect that is so good, one could easily accuse you of doing actual magic. All good wishes!
i can see when she switches between decks and that's only because i can replay it multiple times, but to actually do this in front of Penn and Teller and to fool them, that's just amazing
Seppiro it was pretty good psychological engineering I would say, with all the endings to make P&T relax and stop looking closely at what was in her hands. Very good job.
Frankly the fact that I replayed it at all... Well I don't do that to some of the champions. 16 or 40, the scripting is good enough to fool magicians even if the sleight of hand is still catching up to her brain. I was like, seriously? I'm rewinding? I've been doing this longer than she's been alive. I quit.
Those 4 different endings were remarkeable! A lot of magicians on this page said they were fooled! She's got a great future in magic if she decides to put aside Engineering for a bit.😊
I love how your routine was simple and easy to follow. I felt like I knew what was going to happen and then BAM, plot twist / magic trick. Well done! I’m also an engineer and I love it. I think cool hobbies like magic, music, cars…etc help engineers be more creative with the problems they are solving at work. I hope to see more of your magic in the future!
You're an inspiration not just to young magicians, but to young at heart (but old on the outside) people like me. What you said about not copying other people's magic and creating your own magic really resonates with me. I enjoyed your performance on Fool Us and look forward to seeing where you will go in magic in the coming years.
I loved their first look at each other when she was done. Penn's look at Teller was saying, "Well, she got me, but I'm sure the kid didn't get you." Teller's look was "Wait a second...How did she do that last bit?"
I don't remember what I was doing at 16 but it certainly was not that. Are there improvements that could be made? Sure. But...16. A LOT of time to evolve. High praise. Just the confidence to be on that stage, at that age, is impressive. Assembling a plot from an engineer's perspective, even better. Anyone negatively critiquing this from their sofa was probably not on television at 16. Well done. Follow your passions, whatever they may be.
I’ve watched this many times, a total joy to see, so clean, so amazing and I have to say this is one of the best card tricks I’ve ever seen. And I’ve been watching magicians do card tricks for about 50 years. What a brilliant talent and I wish you all the best in your future careers, whether it’s engineering or magic!
I love this. I've seen probably hundreds of card tricks, honestly I'm usually immune to the magic of card tricks because I tend to pick up on things they do, with slight of hand. But this is refreshing, I'm sure I could figure it out after watching it over and over again, but the last 2 endings I was completely lost on my first view. I really hope you keep up with magic throughout your life as you go to school and pursue the career you want. Plus you could even just do small magic tricks for your coworkers on break. Even if you don't pursue a career in magic, you are definitely talented and it can be used for all kinds of entertainment.
Your love for engineering really shines through in the trick you created. You are what magic needs. Fresh ideas, new takes on classic tricks, and new methods. Penn is right, you have a bright future in magic should you decide to go down that route. Go get an education in engineering, it will only improve your tricks. For the first time watching a magician on Fool Us, I was honestly fooled. Bravo.

I've been doing magic on and off the past 20 years. Nothing serious. Just typical Michael Ammar stuff or beginner-ish/intermediate level David Stone material. I'm pretty good at spotting how tricks are done. Not only did your routine fool me in the sense that I didn't see the twists coming. But even after further reflection, there were several spots that left me rather puzzled. Very, very impressive. Also a very beautiful and smooth presentation.
I love how at the 3:05 mark Tellers face is in awe and Penns face is trying to figure it out and being enjoyably frustrated that he cant. its hard for these 2 especially to go back to when they were kids watching a magic trick, so seeing them witness magic is always an extra treat. Wonderful act...top notch.
The camera did you no justice 4:09, zooming in so much that it revealed a portion of the trick! Nonetheless, it was such a smart strategy by you to have had so many layers to the trick such that even if they figured out how you did several parts of the act, as long as they couldn't figure out one (major) aspect of the act, they should consider themselves fooled. Sounded like Penn was basically following along the whole time but couldn't figure out your very last finishing move. Great act and well played.
What was most impressive to me wasn’t the magic, or her age, or the fact that she creates her own tricks, but her modesty. She obviously didn’t think she’d actually fool P&T, was just happy to be performing her routine for them, is set on becoming an engineer and maybe having magic as a pastime, not a career. Actual career magicians can’t fool P&T with lavish set pieces, lots of misdirection and highly-polished banter, and this young woman does it with an inventive card trick and straightforward (though slightly nervous) delivery. I think as an engineer she can create even more successful, imaginative tricks. Those engineering skills can only help her future in magic!
I do really like how they let the performers share the videos on their own channels. I think that shows great class. Also it make me giggle when I see such an aggrandizing title on the magician's own video. 🤣
There are so many tricks in this that it's hard to follow. If it was an individual trick I'm sure Penn and Teller would figure it out. But there are multiple deck switches, pieces of paper involved that are switched for decks, etc. It's hard to follow when and how exactly each trick is done because they are each different and flow together so well. I can piece together parts of it, but I think I'd have to reach watch this a dozen times and spend a good hour before I really figured out everything. Which is amazing because each part I can figure out, but it's almost always different than I initially thought and different than the other parts I figured out before. Some of the foolers on here I really can't figure out what they did no matter how much I look, this one I can, and yet I can also completely understand how impossible it is to figure out in the moment without having to replay it multiple times.
Really most impressive thing is that she actually has used her hands, her mind, her time to do something that is really entertaining. Not just faked something an put it on TH-cam. This is the type of person that I respect and would pay to see... Luv er

With this Im surprised they could see much at all from where they were at. They were straining to see and Im sure they figured out all of them, but the problem is that they relaxed and didnt pay attention to the last ending (strained old eyes) like they said.
There was no audience due to covid restrictions, but yeah. It would play well to an audience.

I was with you right up until the dribble and then I was going “Okay. So this is real magic. Easy. She’s a witch.”
dribble? the cards all dribbled at the same distance. attached cards kinda like the fake cards waterfall deck. That was the easy bit?
Nah dude, those cards weren't attached

Agreed 110%!
I always love the style of how Penn tells the magician they fooled them. Great trick!
Beyond her technical skills, her level of poise on stage was better than a lot of the adult magicians that appear on there.
So young, and she fooled two of the best. P and T were delighted to present the trophy. Their generosity in hosting this show ultimately provides audiences a better product overall.
Delighted to get her to walk off stage and leave them alone with her props. THATS how she did that.
WHO?!?! MIKE JOOOONES!
I apologize.
I know magic well, but no idea what she did. Awesome performance.
@@andrelinoge9415 The first trick is an unusual twist to a very old and basic card trick. The rest is playing with misdirection in a fresh and genius way too.

@@andrelinoge9415 Sorry for lacking details, I don't want to give it away. But it's a well ordered routine.
Great show. I was with her till the last switch at the. Then had to rewatch. Nerves of steel to do this in a giant room with these guys. Hats off
@@paulmayon8821 A little less nerve wracking if there's no live audience, but nevertheless yeah
Not 100 percent but the last wasn’t a switch because of the way she picked up the cards. They are connected and hang like a daisy chain. If she picked them up any other way they would have fallen apart.
@@ZzHasbrozZ Boy that seems risky. Lot of guts there.

Always warms my heart to see female magicians doing well on pen and teller and especially when P&T are fooled.

Being as kind as I can - if you honestly do not see how the fanned-cards-to-photo switch was done, then (1) it's clear to me you are not familiar with basic magic technique, so an explanation would not really be useful to you at this stage, and (2) a TH-cam comment on the magician's channel is NOT where your answers will lie. @@1979genius She could have stopped the trick at each of the four endings.
Each trick carried over the selected card.
Except...I get the feeling she forced the selected card and then swapped between a number of decks.
@@1979genius yep, you are right.
*Too-obvious to P&T, of course.
you had a calmer head than most the people that come on the show, that puts the audience at ease to just sit back and enjoy the show. well done
All things considered - she is extremely impressive, and so is her original unique trick. I am in awe
Simply wonderful.
She certainly will be at the top of her field, wherever her dreams take her.
All good wishes!
i can see when she switches between decks and that's only because i can replay it multiple times, but to actually do this in front of Penn and Teller and to fool them, that's just amazing
the most obvious one was when she showed the copied piece of paper and the camera zoomed in but there is no way Penn & Teller didn't get this
i was personally lost at the last one, without rewatching
Great work! Once she gains more confidence and has a more relaxed flow to her narration, she’ll be unstoppable.
I came down to say the exact same thing. lol! They cut to Penn and Teller, and their faces were priceless!

How can anyone possibly give a dislike for such a great routine!!! This kid is just so very talented... I'm jealous... 😍😍😍

Not only did your routine fool me in the sense that I didn't see the twists coming. But even after further reflection, there were several spots that left me rather puzzled. Very, very impressive. Also a very beautiful and smooth presentation.
Michael Ammar and David Stone stuff are not serious?
I love how at the 3:05 mark Tellers face is in awe and Penns face is trying to figure it out and being enjoyably frustrated that he cant. its hard for these 2 especially to go back to when they were kids watching a magic trick, so seeing them witness magic is always an extra treat. Wonderful act...top notch.
Yup. My guess is wanting to experience again being a kid watching a trick he can't figure out is the whole reason they created Fool Us.
Those engineering skills can only help her future in magic!
i cant believe what i just saw. who at 16 comes up with their own illusion + card trick and gets one past penn & teller?? thats so heart warming
Luv er
