    The story of my suburban double garage dates back almost ten years to November 2010. That year, my wife and I built our dream home and I began developing the garage into a place I could perform car care and other fun and important projects. Fast forward ten years, the garage has taken on a life all its own. This is the story of how RAD Garage became to be.

    An interesting view of the evolution of your nice garage. I am glad that we can export both hockey players and IKEA stuff to Canada. I hope you have tried the meatballs aswell.
    An ongoing project like this is a way to peace of mind. The journey is a goal in itself.
    I hope you and your family stay well and safe. Take care.
    I might have to start an instagram account. Just to be able to follow you there too.

    WoW!!! Your garage is a work of art!! I have been detailing cars for the past 6 years or so and just last year, I opened Organ Mountain Detailing in Las Cruces, NM and the inspiration I get from watching your videos is so lifting. Awesome Video... really neat to hear the evolution of the garage and understand your thought process as you were making the changes. I can remember watching your older videos, pausing and rewinding when something cool in the background caught my eye. Knowing that someday I was going to create my own detailing studio it was very helpful to see your setup as well as some of the other big name detailers so that I could formulate my own layout. Now that I have retired and can focus on my space and obsessed hobby of detailing there is nothing more satisfying than hanging out in a well organized, clean detailing environment. You should take pride in knowing that you have probably changed garages all around the globe. I can tell you that I specifically went to ADAM's products after seeing how neat and organized they looked on your wall. Now I am working on my brush collection....LOL. Keep up the great work.

    Stunning! Yours is now my gold standard of garage artistic design, storage and functionality. I was on the edge with flooring (epoxy vs. tile) and was looking at RaceDeck. Your vid on the sale of the old RD for Swisstrack was exceptional (as are all your vids..love the soundtrack). It was the second Swisstrack vid I've seen; your decision to sell it "sold" me. I'm in! Great to see the transformation of this garage... it's definitely one of those ongoing projects as you currently see fit. I really to like the way you hung the bottles on the curtain rod or whatever... I'm definitely going to take that one for my garage too. I've got some old tent rods for camping I think I'm going to use. Just need to fashion a way to mount it to the wall haha. Creating a garage space definitely requires some creativity.

      Yes, developing your garage into the space of your dreams definitely requires creativity. In addition, it requires flexibility, patience, determination, blood, sweat, tears, dirty looks from you spouse, time, perseverance, money, energy, disappointment, frustration, elation, pride, passion, and most of all HARD WORK! I hope your project is as fun and rewarding as mine has been! Thanks for all the great feedback, I truly appreciate viewers like you, Scott.

    Rick, this video was perfectly timed. I think right before you get into the real heavy projects with springtime almost here, it was a perfect time to reflect on how your detailing salon evolved over time. You did a great job telling the story, with pictures, of just how much effort went into the overall project. I love how your wall-mounted CD player survived all the evolution stage by stage...that was pretty cool. The other thing that amazes me (and Pls tell me if I'm wrong)....the incredible garage space came first before the addiction of car detailing grabbed you and become such a big hobby. My sense is most detailers focus on evolving their car detailing skills, and as that grew, the detail space itself evolved and grew with it.( I hope I'm stating that right)...In your situation you built this amazing detailing salon to perfection AND THEN focused on how you could improve your detailing hobby within the custom space.. I think that is so cool. Just a great video. I think I'm going to watch it a second time to make sure I fully saw all the elements come together. (Mike in Ohio)

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you aren't the first person to comment on my CD player! I guess it dates me a bit, but I love slapping an old favorite disc in that machine! It is funny how the space and the detailing passion seemed to grow symbiotically. It's like the old chicken and egg adage. Which came first? LOL I think the fact that I have always been a collector had a lot to do with the evolution also. Here I was finding out about all these products I didn't know existed, so I began collecting them. Then, I needed to find a way to display them. Voila! The garage is born!

    Hi Rick, I just loved this video outlining in great detail the evolution of your garage and you as well. As usual I am inspired by watching it and although I have a small garage...at least I have a garage. And, this video has inspired me to start thinking about some "baby steps" I can take to make it a better space for detailing and "having fun in my garage"...as they say! The only downside to your growth in subscribers is that now you have a lot of commercial interruptions which is great for you but...I guess I will have to start paying for premium You Tube. But it will be worth it. Thanks again.

    Wow Rick. So inspiring. I don’t seem to have anywhere near that pace you have yet own garages are not dissimilar in size. It’s great that you have a ‘local’ go to company that is inexpensive to purchase. I’m looking at an easing into the YT videos as you suggested, but I dare not show what the garage looks like. I have about the front of one side for detailing. The primary reason being is that as a woodwork/metalwork/engineering secondary teacher, I have a fantastic shop set up I for completing projects around the home and as bespoke pieces of furniture for friends. Your garage looks so organised I think I will show this video to my wife so that I can show her what can be achieved if I’m left to my own devices - think I’ll get away with it. Stay safe and keep the content coming. PS this may not suit your style of video, but I was wondering if you would consider a workflow video about different aspects of your detailing. Just a thought.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am in the exact same boat as you. Looking back now, I could have dropped another $10K into the garage, but there was a lot of other areas of the house that made more sense to invest in. Plus, I had no idea the garage was going to evolve as far as it did. What do they say about hindsight? LOL

      @PrestigeDetailingStudio 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RADGarage haha yep. Thanks for sharing the evolution, I got some great advise from this video. I am looking to start on my garage and my stand alone mini-garage/shed this summer. I will be going with the Swiss Trax after watching other's experiences on flooring ideas for the past year of two.
    I have also been looking at different cabinets for the spaces, color coordinating ideas. I have been following others like yourself on TH-cam as they go through their garage transformations, this has provided me the ability to see what could work best for what I want to have the spaces look like.
    I have been getting my detailing products and equipment together, I don't see myself doing any type of business, just taking care of our vehicles, we have four and since retiring from the Army, I have begun to get visions or ideas for the home together.
    Thanks again for sharing your journey, I will be using some of your experiences to help me make my vision come together.

      John Dunnington I agree. The decor was perfectly matched to the Griot’s vibe. When I reached out to them about a banner or wall sign they told me to kick rocks. I was surprised with their icy reception. Oh well. Life goes on. Adam’s treats me like a rock star!

    Loved the format of the chapters to where you started, to where you are now. My builder finished my garage like a room inside the home. I started with gladiator walls and shelves but I think I need a upgrade.
    Are you a Audi loyalist? I traded in my Porsche back in 2017 for a Audi A6 S-line competition. Absolutely love the car, though I only have 26,000 kms on it. Wifey bought a new Palisade and enjoys it.
    What options did you consider for heating the garage, and where did you get the Swiss trax? (Costs)

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dwayne. Yes, I'm a huge Audi enthusiast. I could see moving to Porsche but I have absolutely loved my current and two previous Audi SUV's. The A6 is a very sharp machine, especially in the S-Line spec. I did a pretty decent exterior wash of a black one (a little older) and it happens to be my most viewed video on my channel! Such a classy car. If you are interested in a Swisstrax floor, or just learning more about them, drop me an email at radgarageyyc@gmail.com and feel free to check out this webpage on my site that gives you a lot of info: www.radgarage.ca/swisstrax-floor.html. Really nice insight into how it all started out and where it has ended up to date. I spotted a few Autoglym products in that video, a brand i've been sticking with for the past few years (perhaps because they're considered high quality here in the UK). What did you think of their products, and what made you stop using them over the years? Also, I may be incorrect as we obviously can't see you whilst you're commentating, but I felt as though you were getting emotional at chapter 9 - just something I noticed! Anyway great video and hope there's more great things coming on your RAD garage journey.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good eye! Yes, I had a few Auto Glym products back in the day. They were totally fine from what I recall. I think they are a great bang for the buck. I have one friend in Australia that only uses Auto Glym products and he is a highly selective person so take that as a positive indictment on the brand.
      There may have been some emotions in the video, especially when I was reflecting on all the family fun we had in there. Even more good times ahead! I can't wait until my son brings home his own car in a few years and we can work on it together! That will be most epic of all RAD videos!

    • @RADGarage

      Hi Shaun. I am not one of these super ambitions weekend warriors who wants to work day in day out of his home garage. I'm more of a "once-in-a-while" kinda guys. Too much detailing can make it more of a job than a pleasure for me, so I really limit the projects I take on. For that reason, I usually have enough people interested to satisfy me. That said, I was really missing new cars during the early days of the pandemic. I am at the point, where I could probably reach out to my "regulars" and get a car in there. It's nice that it is still just a hobby and not a part-time or full-time profession.

    • @RADGarage

      The business of detailing is something that I think would be very challenging in my city. The weather is so unpredictable given our elevation (3500 feet) so I find even with my hobby, friends and family have a hard time timing things so they don't have to pick up a freshly detailed car in the middle of a snow storm. Also, I just don't have the energy after a fun but exhausting day of teaching. I think I will always keep it at the hobby level but I am really excited about my growing viewership and connections with people and companies in the detailing business. I'm very happy with the way things are at the moment. Thanks for watching and thanks for the great question.
