As somebody who followed closely Radwanska's career, I dare to say it was the most painful loss in her entire career. Bartoli was never capable to win against Aga. Radwanska with having a lead in the final set here, it was the closest she has ever been to win any slam and her favourite tennis tournament.
2 points to win and may be a slam title but Aga missed it... really really sad that she ended her career without a grandslam, she is deserved at least one
@@a.b.6972 Bartoli was on fire in 2012 and lost (AGAIN) to Radwańska at Miami Masters... Radwańska leads 7:0 in head-to-head against Bartoli, so I don't think she would beat Radwańska. After final she even said that she knew that Wimbledon 2013 wasn't her. Also that was the only match she watched at this tournament.
@@weronikahmielewicz4033 Bartoli on Wimbledon 2013 had a lucky bracket with weak opponents. Unlike Sabine who on the road to final defeated Serena and Radwanska.
Radwanska stole a set from Li Na when Li Na's ace on set point was incorrectly called out by the line judge, she already was lucky as can be. Otherwise she wouldn't even get to play Lisicki
Lisicki was such a joy to watch! The best combination of an absolute powerhouse on the court and the sweetest player on the tour in interviews. Holding nothing back, it's no wonder the crowd & commentary orbited around her the whole time. Genuinely smiling even when she lost a point to either a silly mistake or a good play by her opponent is so rare, but is the nicest thing to watch. I don't think I've ever wanted someone to win the title more.
Still hurts this match and Janowicz - Murray semifinal. Wimbledon 2013 was beautiful dream for polish tennis fans. Tennis in Poland has never been so popular like football or volleyball but this tournament is absolutely unforgettable to this day.
Sabine was soooo popular and an absolute sweetheart. It would be a fairytale if she could overcome her injury woes and blast her way through Wimbledon again. Dreams though.
Look at the muscle definition in the arms and legs for radwanska here. Damn she is muscular and strong. I am 5'9 and around 170 pounds and yet I believe Aga is strong and muscular enough to physically beat me up in a fight, lift me up in the air and womanhandle me if she wanted to. Strong Aga, that's why she's my queen
Watching Sabine Lisicki play Serena Williams and Radwanska it is difficult to see how she did not win every match against any opponent Part of the explanation must be the sequence of injuries, and perhaps, because she has so much power and talent, she has a problem of concentration so that she needs adversity to summon up her will power, but also she is blessed with a sense of humour and a sense of proportion, so that although she loves tennis she has more in her life For myself I must confess she delights me, win or lose because she has the skills to defeat all comers. I just delight in her smile, her feminine figure an personality. She recruits the support and the affections of a Wimbledon crowd because grass is her element, her style appeals to an English crowd. She is just a joy
This was a great match. I used to love watching Sabine play. The handshake at the end is disappointing but remember Aga would be bitterly disappointed. But it would have been nice to acknowledge Sabine's success. Still incredible match.
Aga couldn't win the QF match if Li Na decided to challenge in 1st set. And actually if Sabine faced Li Na in SF, it would be not sure that she could win... Li Na deserved to conquer the title at that year !
God I miss Sabine. But she's been making a tentative return to court this year. Fingers crossed that the AELTC see sense and give her a Wildcard for Wimbledon 2022!
Great match. Not to detract from the tennis... usually I prefer brunettes but Radwanska looked good as a blonde. Too bad Lisicki lost the final. I feel like she deserved a Grand Slam title after taking out Serena and Aga. I would never have picked Bartoli of all people to win it all at the beginning of the tournament!
Great Match.. Just 2 Think, Marion Bartoli Won & Never Faced A Seeded Player.. She Was 150/1 To Win Title.. Final Lasted ( 81 ) Minutes.. Sweetheart Draw..
Fantastic match. Not sure why this official channel doesn't have the full final of this 2013 wimbledon, also Andy Murray's finals ... can anyone tell me why!?
There's more to tennis than one tournament, was she heard of again well..yes. A 2014 Quarter finals at Wimbledon, winning Hong Kong title 2014 defeating Pliskova, then there was the doubles 2014 in Miami with Hings, doubles 2015 Brisbane with Hingis. Where's she been the rest of the time plagued with serious injury like almost no-one else I've seen. Last year after getting over injuries she was diagnosed with "Mononucleosis and at the end of the year just got the all clear to start training again. It' so easy to judge people without knowing the true story. She's also a 30 year old who's won over 7 million dollars in prize money, so somehow I think she's pretty well known
After SERENA, my favorite female tennis player was MONICA SELES, from Yugoslavia, MARTINA NAVRATILOVA, then, AGA RADWANSKA. Of course There were one or two OTHERS, but AGA's game style stood out because she used a tennis racket like a surgeon uses a scalpel to make the shots no other female player couldn't even dream of ! She took into account: her body type and played rings around the truly big names in women's tennis. Iga Swiatek, cannot hold a candle to her for that very reason ... Iga has no competition, Ash Barty & SERENA retired. Women's Tennis is boring now. Again, SERENA & MONICA, MARTINA & AGA.❤❤💖💖 Thanks for uploading this. Miss a TRUE Master of women's tennis like AGA, even when injured.❤
1:16:39 Could anyone picture Maria, Vika and Serena lined up on a communal sofa in 2013 watching the Wimbledon semi-final? 🤣🤣🤣 Picture Maria shouting "Run, run!", Serena throwing Sugarpova candy or popcorn at the TV and complaining that the umpire is unattractive inside, Vika wagging a finger, muttering that this is not a good example of women's tennis and nudging Maria back to her side if they happen to brush shoulders. 🤣
Please those English speaking commentators learn to pronounce Polish, and all the foreign, names. It isn't that bloody hard for goodness sake! Can't they speak any second language? It's embarrassing.
Sumnah Lennon I agree this must have been the reason. They both come from Polish families, both speak the language, Radwanska’s been often interviewed on local media about other players of Polish roots (Wozniacki, Kerber and Lisicki) and never mentioned anything negative abt Sabine.
