I'm trying to decide between the regular Royal Oak Jumbo and this one. I prefer 41mm in theory but there is just something about the 39mm that looks more elegant. I'm not just talking about the sleeker case, there's also something about the dial on this watch that makes it look higher quality than the larger sized ones. I don't want to say that the new 41mm Jumbo's look cheap... they just look more mass produced than the older variants. This particular AP has that same aesthetic as the older models, with a new movement and spectacular finish on the case and bracelet.
39mm is called the 'jumbo'
41mm are the standard royal oaks.

Let’s hope these nearly 20,000 Euro models are getting the new and modern movement of the Code 11.59 soon. And I don’t understand why they get rid of a second hand.
If you have to ask, it shows you don't understand the history of royal oak. You can always buy the 15400 or 15500 if you want a seconds hand.

Very informative, I had no idea that this movement does not have a quick date set.
Question for you and the viewers: would you rather have
a) A gold 15202 and white gold 36mm Day Date (blue dial, batons)
b) A steel 15202 and a 36mm Yellow Gold Day Date (Blue dial)
I'm torn at the moment because part of me feels that the Royal Oak is meant to be a steel watch but I am pining for a gold sporty watch (oxymoron I know) and have a real soft spot for the 36mm Day Date which I'm sure will be added to my collection when the time is right (would just be sooner if I opt for a steel RO)

Question: Is it really enough to just go slightly past midnight? I know the general consensus of other watches you set like this, is to go past 3am and all the way back to around 10PM because the gears are still used. Or is that perhaps just for watches with the quickset function?

Kazzamatazz What he showed “works”, but he’s taking a big risk. The AP lead tech guy in the Singapore boutique told me it was very important to work between the range of 9pm and 2am on the 15202, otherwise you risk damage and/or premature wear.
@@nomansland120 you're thinking of the quick set function.. You should not attempt to Quick Change the date on certain ETA and Valjoux watches between 9pm and 2am as it can damage the gears. But for these non quick set watches, whatever two points it flips the date from is fine.
@@AndyGarton the Singapore Boutique Lead Tech guy was probably a sales rep. Manual wind watches like this don't have the extra gears that Quick Set watches have, it's those that can get damaged if you set the date between 9pm and 2am. BTW Modern quick set rolexes don't have that problem and you can set them anytime you like.

I prefer the AP, saw both last time I was at my favourite dealer in munich and the AP looked better IMO. It seemed to be more easy to wear it to any kind of ocassion.

@@diabew I wish I could afford one haha. But I'm very happy with my current watch: It's a Longines Présence Automatic. (39mm, Black dial, Black leather strap) I was in munich again yesterday and did saw the royal oak worn by a man in a nice restaurant, the watch looks so perfect and like any watch in real life they look even better than on pictures. Absolutley stunning!

@John D It's because he is fucking up the date window change which on most watches occurs between 9pm and 2am. Good observation to whoever posted. This watch collector guy is so filthy rich tbh I don't think he cares about details such as that.

Hi, I like your channel but spending time indicating how to set anything on a watch this expensive seems to me completely unnecessary; anybody who can afford a watch like this knows how it’s done , it’s not something you pick up on your way home from the local gift shop and if you don’t own one why would you care.?

I heard going back in time is bad for the movement ; sloppy engineering by AP. And don't forget you will pay thousands to service it..
I like a very wide variety of watches, but these are simply ghastly. They look cheap and nasty, just horrible.

those Audemars Piguets are overprices pieces of shit... the movements are the saving grace. They would be good solid watches with unique designs, but the price of what...a base price of 20 thousand up over 100 thousand?!?!? If they cost like 5K, ok I could say the watches are solid cool swiss pieces with fantastic movements. At 20K to 100K, pieces of shit.
WOW. what a piece of garbage. The fact that a watch that expensive cannot have the quality control to change the date right at midnight is crazy. Even a 10k rolex is spot on!
