Thanks a lot mate! Was really a fantastic walk, had a bit of everything and it also was for Robert the first time in the Mamores, hope he loves them as much as I do 😎
Cheers Kev! Yeah the burden of the dedicated bagger 😂 (to be fair I have done them before 😎). It's a beautiful place to camp but I am not sure if I want to camp there during summer - when the beasts are out in full force.
Hi Stripey, what a fantastic adventure, a stunning hike and a magnificent camp spot, so peaceful with a beautiful back drop. As always mate, thank you for sharing yours and Murchies trip. All the best Dave 😀🥾⛰🏕️
Hi Dave 👋, thank you very much! Just so nice to have finally no rain, strong winds or both together. Yeah I mentioned it to Robert, I think I do like the Mamores more than Glen Coe at the moment - much less people/or the same amount in a bigger area. As always thanks a lot Stripey
Oh hey great videos man. I'm a guy from California who did a lot of tent camping with family and friends when I was younger. We have a lot of nice areas for camping here. These days I just do cabin camping though. Back then I did tents and cabins and our trips were usually for trout fishing near rivers. I still love trout fishing. I am getting older now though and turning 40 in August which is a huge shock. I never did the kind of hiking you do but did some. I give you credit for that it must take a lot of endurance. I have had some bad injuries over the years from car accidents and some other stuff but I am OK. I can still do a lot of hiking and stuff but kinda just taking it easy these days. I really like your bothy videos. Do some more where you stay and have a fire. I always loved a good fire in a cabin or outside of a cabin it's peaceful.
Thank you very much and hello to California. For me it isn't about who does the longest hike, highest mountain or most exposed climb - it is rather spending quality time outside and appreciating nature. I am sure more bothy videos will come at some point (we have quite a lot of them) but when weather permits I prefer to sleep in a tent. Might be different if I would have your weather conditions but here in Scotland you really need to make the most of the days without rain 😂 Thanks a lot Stripey
I had the best fish and chips ever in Kinlochleven. We went over the Devil's Staircase mid-afternoon to a chip shop in the village. The fish was caught the same morning. Beautifully fresh.
Nice film. I used to live in Kinlochleven and was always up in the Mamores abd grey mares tail waterfall, lovely area, just don't go in summer with all the midges 😂😂
Yeah it absolutely was Jennifer. It just felt so good to be outside in the sun, little wind and stunning scenery - wish everyday could be like this one 😎 Thanks a lot Stripey
Stunning video, what a day to be out and able to see for miles. It looked a lot of elevation 😮 what was the name of the last mountain that you climbed before you dropped down to climb please
Hi Alan 👋, Oh recommending a tent is very difficult and everyone has different needs/comfort levels. The MLD duomid is a really stable and light tent and I personally use it most of the time without an inner tent (so I see some bugs/spiders/…), would I recommend it? Really depending what you want to do, in my eyes it is good in everything but not perfect in anything 😂 But yes I am a big trekking pole tent fan as I always use Trecking poles + the weight and pack size is usually smaller than with tents who have separate poles. Hope it helps a little ATB Stripey
@@alanrobinson2229 Yes and yes! The pyramid shape of the tent is very good in shedding winds. I have used it in verified wind speeds of around 35+km/h without any issue at all - but I can only talk for the A-frame setup. I am aware of a lot of 'wild camps in 70mph" videos and in my eyes this is clickbait not more not less. When you are interested in this topic I can highly recommend to look into the correlation of wind load and wind speeds. But I guess this is a different topic. In generally I avoid camping in high winds as I prefer a good nights sleep and selecting the right campsite is one of the most important skills you can have imho. Cheers Stripey
I said to myself , what ! A beautiful day in Scotland ? As the day progress I saw the clouds progressing on top of the mountains ... the miracle wasnt going to happen 😅 At least you had no rain the first day . Nice intro with the fall and beautiful scenery at the beginning . The snow is still hanging up there , I guess you where at the limit where crampons would be necessary. Was it a 17 km hike total or until your camp ? Thanks as alway's for sharing
Thanks a lot! The whole hike was 17km. Crampons are in my experience of little use when the snow is this wet and slushy, this was actually also the reason why we went right and not left along the ridge as it is rather north facing and has probably a lot of very wet snow hanging in - which would make it unnecessarily dangerous. It was already uncomfortable coming down the east facing bit. Thanks a lot as always for watching 🙌 Stripey
Thanks a lot MaliceGla! Everything I need, nothing more nothing less 😂. I am waiting for one more item, then I will do a video about my kit for 2024. Cheers Stripey
Love it Stripey 😍..What a brilliant film of our trip ..Some great memories of our trip 😍👌🏻..Who was that slow coach behind you though 🤔😂..Great stuff buddy 😁 Cheers Robert
Hey Stripey, we are a scotlandloving Family and we are trying to find something easy to „Cook“ while on hikes. How are you making your famous Pasta Bolognese? It Looks homecooked, but also Kind of dehydrated? Maybe you‘d Like to Share your secret recipe :-)
Hello Josefine, Sure no secret at all! I have a video on my channel which shows exactly how I prepare my pasta bolognese - quick, easy, cheap and most importantly super tasty. ATB Stripey
Thanks a lot Olan! On it mate, as soon as it is ready we will notify all people registered. Currently we ordered the material (gets produced for us, takes 45 days!) as well as one last round prototypes as I am not sure if 1mm or even 2mm wider top diameter would be better for a smoother putting the pot in/out. Not sure as it is an issue as you have seen it seems that the material seems to 'settle' a little bit. We are testing each prototype version with 100 full boils. It all takes some time but it needs to be done proper, particular for this price point - no one wants to spend money for a 90% solution. Cheers Stripey
@@StripeyHatGuy Awesome , i totally get all those points and it's fantastic that you are addressing these because it's these subtle points that make all the difference . I feel sure that you will make the right decision and i am looking forward to buying one 👍

Nice one Stripey, braw vid. Got to love the Mamores and connecting ridges to the peaks, can easily spend a weekend there no problem.
