- The Tour of the Ecrins National Park is also known as the GR54.
It is arguably the best trek in the Alps. It is an incredible walk of
193km (120 miles) around the incomparable Ecrins National
Park in the Southern French Alps. On the way, 14 magnificent
mountain passes are crossed. It is almost certainly the finest
trek that you have never heard of!

Boah what a scenery at minute 7.x. And all that ups and downs within a long day.
Yeah absolutely outstanding! Cheers Georg 👍
Fantastic video Stripey! Not sure what it is but you seem to be much more like the good old Stripey! Can’t wait for the next days 🙌🙌🙌
@@MaliceGLA thanks a lot mate!
What a wonderful trip through so beautiful nature 😊
Absolutely mate!!!
Great video. The scenery was amazing. I always find those traversing paths above steep slopes quite frightening, that one certainly looked so. I could feel your exhaustion towards the end, what a day!
@@Jennifer.4 aye definitely! At the end of the day I was just done! Just had enough, this was probably my lowest point on the whole GR54…thankfully I had Andy with me - next day we were ‘almost’laughing about it 😂
Strong work Stripey lad, a tough day for sure...some soul destroying turnarounds there. Glad to se you make the best of it and recover to face the next challenge.
Thanks a lot Gary, yeah when we realised that we were wrong…oh man…however we weren’t ready to give up 😂.
Thanks a lot Stripey
Superb Stripey, what a day, what stunning scenery. You looked absolutely spent mate. 😃🥾⛰🇫🇷
@@DAoutdoors cheers mate! Yeah the end was everything but nice 😂. At the moment when we discovered that we were wrong it was like a little world crumbled 😂😂😂
Stunning views
Great job guys! Sometimes fun and unexpected things happen on detours… It’s all good!
@@stephenconroy9283 100% Stephen! Thanks a lot
Well done on what looked liked a day of highs n lows 😊
Absolutely! Not as expected 😂
Amazing scenery and well done!
Thank you!
Brilliant Stripey, loved it. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen you knackered but no wonder that was like doing a marathon every day for a week 😢in 30 degree heat and at altitude, well done.Absolutely amazing views. Eileen and myself just spent 5 weeks touring France at the same time you were there . The closest place we were to you I think was Chamonix. Prost James
@@jameskyle8092 Thanks a lot James! Yeah was pretty demanding, the last bit uphill really got me there 😂. Would have been nice to have a rest day but as it is so often we haven’t had ‘enough’ time on our hands and during the planing stage it looked tough but manageable (thankfully Andy and me insisted of 1 more day!!!). Personally I haven’t really been a lot in France for hiking even so it isn’t too far from my parents home - I usually went to Austria. Would love to go to Chamonix one day, who knows it where we end up but Andy and me are already planing for next year (still in the ideation stage 😂). Thanks a lot and Prost 🍻
Superb mate😍👌🏻..Tough day for you guys..The views are absolutely incredible..The bit a the coll was out of this world..Looking forward to the next instalment when you get back on track.
Cheers
Robert
Thank you Robert! The northern part of the GR54 is just fantastic, definitely my favourite bit of the whole trip!
@@StripeyHatGuy😁👍
This looks tough enough without adding extra tough times 😅

Good video
Every video I ask myself if we have been there around the same time. Which dates have been there? Unfortunaltely I didn't make it so far because I got quite sick and had to walk back to Vallouise from that shepherd's hut you passed before going up to the Col de l'Aup Martin. 🥺
Too bad you walked towards Les Auberts after Ref. du Pré de la Chaumette, I thought you would hike a cool variant 😵. Dang it. But I think some detour is part of every hike.
Looking forward to the next days and thank you for sharing.
Hi there, we have been there from 25.6 - 6.8.2024. Oh man that is a shame that you got sick. Did you walk also clockwise? Yeah the detour was pretty annoying, next time we take a paper map with us 😂
Thanks a lot for watching - ATB Stripey
Looks a tough day buddy but you seem to be back in the grove and enjoying it, on a scale of 1-10 how bad are you smelling on day 6? 😂😂 👃
@@Craigsoutdooradventures thanks a lot Craig! Yeah enjoying it a lot apart of the detour bit 😂. Well I would say it was roughly a 4 from the smell, had a bath and clothes washed just the day before.
