    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Hey DL, thanks for your comment, and good question. I definitely think you can improve a lot by studying techniques through videos, and practicing on your own. At some point though it will be beneficial for you to get at least one training partner to do some applications - safety first - as well as an expert that can provide feedback on your execution if possible. We are working on ideas to set up virtual private classes via video chat in the future. Also, don't let anyone tell you you can't do anything because of autism; we have had a couple students with this condition in the past, and they have done very well. Hope this helps, and good luck! - Patrick

    +Effective Martial Arts High I`ve been beat up a few times over the years and I would feel safer blocking in some fashion should I ever be attacked again, this is the first martial arts advise I have seen where I can strike while blocking, are there any punches I can also throw while blocking as I think I will panic again and I want to stay in a shell, I`ve seen a channel that says a high guard can ruin your low centre of gravity and as I`ve shadow boxed (in my living room! LOL!) in my room I`ve felt clumsy while punching from a block, do you have any advise on this? Great vid.

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Mark Ant, thanks, glad you like it, and thank you for your comment. Indeed it takes practice to seamlessly blend offense and defense, so for that the best thing would be to find someone with more experience who can coach you on your execution. Meantime, check out our punch blocks and counters video for ideas: th-cam.com/video/SaMfj1sJlZ4/w-d-xo.html. More good stuff to come!

      A hook will provide good face coverage.
      Straight punches can also be used to create a long guard which can help but if they are very imposing they can tackle you which is dangerous

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Reverse elbows are very common. There is always a slight chance of injury depending on what part of your opponent you're connecting with, but I would say it's minor in this case.

      Elbows can be very effective in the clinch as well. When in a choke, they can help to loosen the grip, but I would say the priority is to escape the choke with grip fighting and positional adjustments.
