"it's running fat..." and "we melted plugs" are two things I can honestly say I have NEVER witnessed in person. Typically when they run fat the excess fuel keeps cylinder temps low and you will soot the plugs up. Also..... backfires through the intake.... typically called a "lean pop".... Did anyone bother checking the A/F gauge setup to make sure it was remotely accurate.... I used to use a calibration gas bottle along with two reference sensors in a tube to make sure that I was reading accurate.....
