    • @coolstar2398
      @coolstar2398 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I’m the opposite. I’d take the dmax because I don’t like how American the ranger looks. I can’t argue with how comfortable the ranger is but what is the point in a comfortable ute. It’s like having the fastest coffee machine or the warmest summer blanket or the worlds biggest micropenis. Ultimately I think the Hilux is the best of both worlds between the ranger and the dmax and in terms of modifying and off-road use ability the Hilux reigns supreme

    I’d rather the Isuzu for reliability and a proven drivetrain,after having a friend work at ford hearing all the issues they have,no thanks…..
    The Isuzu may be slower and less refined but it won’t end up back in the service department under warranty countless times.

    I've driven that Ranger sport model and the Wildtrack V6 diesel both are great but I love my brand new 2023 model D Max X Terrain dual cab ute. I had extras put on mine as I live rural western Australia in the goldfields region so we have very stupid wildlife over here that think vehicles are made for target practice . I enjoy my new Isuzu D Max X Terrain ute and I goes very well crossing sand bothsoft medium and hard using correct gear selection and mode , traction control system works a treat and the difflock for low range works exceptionally well. Fuel economy is fantastic where I got it down to 7.4lt of diesel per 100km stretch on the highway in 6 gear . The transmission is very nice and I like and love the reliability of the Isuzu range of vehicles. I'm very impressed and happy with my new D Max X Terrain Ute. It's very well worth the money I spent on it fro suit my individual requirements perfectly. A touring and exploring rig with comfort style and modern tech which is more than enough to confuse me as I'm still very old school 😁😁😁. Overall the D Max X Terrain Ute suits my needs very well. 10/10 to Isuzu for a very nice ride .

      Hey mate. I'm also in rural WA and although quite a bit further north than yourself I can assure you our wildlife are just as stupid up here. I'm considering a dmax myself and just wondering what bullbar you went with? Cause if you're achieving those fuel economy figures with some steel hanging on the front that's amazing!

    Both are very good Utes, recently drove the Isuzu 3.0 LSE DC and I still think the Triton's 2.4 diesel is better. Found the Isuzu to be disconnected from what I wanted it to do. The Triton on the other hand is not lazy and is quick off the mark if you want it to be. The paddle shifters on the Triton are convenient for overtaking or just for fun. Also, the ride comfort is quite decent and of course durability comes standard. Back that up with amazing customer service from Mitsubishi SA dealerships makes it the most underrated ute/bakkie on the market.

    The 2 liter Ford has a narrower torque band and the 10 speed auto covers this up, the Isuzu 3 liter digs deep and the well proven super reliable Aisan 6 speed is more than sufficient, whereas the ZF 10 speed proved troublesome in some slightly earlier US Ford and yes GM vehicles.
    For long life and reliability the Isuzu is the pick IMHO.
    I drive a 3.2 liter 5 cylinder Ranger, now on its 2nd engine at 180k, not known for the reliability of the Isuzu or for that matter the 3.2 and 2.3 Mitsibishi diesels.
    However the 3.2 has a wider torque band than the newer 2 liter Ford and pulls well with the 6 speed ZF, but if heavy towing fit a transmission cooler if you don't wish to discover ' limp mode', a well known issue within the industry, Melbournes well respected Wholesale Automatics designed and supply plenty of twin radiator transmission kits for the Ranger ZF 6 speed as a result.
    Oddly Mitsibihi Triton autos ( also Aisan ) are factory supplied with transmission coolers.
    Ford need toget ther act together as they strongly promote the Ranger for towing,

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 10 speed in smaller Ford (10R80) and GM (10L80) vehicles is not a ZF. It was jointly developed by Ford and GM. Ram and Jeep use ZF transmissions in the lighter offerings (up to Ram 1500).

    The UK Ranger has a 1060kg payload and the Isuzu 1010kg I believe. They must be rated to carry over 1 ton in the UK to qualify as ‘dual purpose’ vehicles which allows eligible businesses to reclaim the VAT on the purchase price and write the total cost off as a cost against their business. More and more ‘consumers’ are buying these though, and that makes them very costly, not vehicles I would chose for the money using my taxed income.

    Two points, first the Ranger seems to be a 4WD that will last you into the future but the Dmax does not and needs updating also the Ranger may be to long for some garages. Second, 4WDs need to be tested in all real world off road areas not just driving around Melbourne roads. Come to QLD or WA and do some real 4WD beach driving. I’ve owned a Dmax since 2014 and I’m waiting for what if any Isuzu and others will do to equal or better in Ranger, hybrid something maybe.

    $ for $ these 2 are equivalent. Ranger has more tech, quieter cabin, more responsive steering. DMAX sounds like a diesel and have reliability on its side. DMAX has aftermarket parts already on the shelf for any upgrades or add ons. Rangers cabin feels more spacious as does under the bonnet for a second battery. Time will tell for fords reliability for next gen and the V6 version.

    Xterrain do have tailgate assist, or it depends on the selling country ?
    Also, I watched plenty of reviews, and the diesel consumptions numbers you're getting on these models aren't true. The ranger is bigger and heavier, achieving higher consumptions than that. At the opposite, the D-Max is famous for its low consumptions numbers, thanks to its very wide torque range.
    Honestly the problem of the roller cover, was solved by Mazda BT-50, they got a top of the line edition, which got a cover that actually roll over the bed, and not disturbing at all the loading or eating space in the cargo.

Double turbo is good for the first 150000km, from there on get your wallet. To me comfort and tech has run away to far. In SA the Mahindra Karoo double cabs are eating into the market because its not over speced and over priced, normal people can use an maintain the vehicle, drive thru a river without worries, go camping in far away isolated places because you've got money left to do things....

    Im actually impressed by this vid i was waiting for the wankfest normally that happens over the ranger but even though i knew the ranger was going to win before watching the vid. The video was very well done. Good job!
    Me personally would rather the dmax still over the ranger. But ranger does add some cool lil extras.
    Reliability is a must and the dmax wins there not saying it doesn't have its problems like most cars do ect
    Infotainment in the ranger i love and hate at the same time its nice and big but having the controls for the heater in the screen when the controls are just there is mind boggling. Maybe at the stop of the screen it would be better so your eyes aint taken off the road looking down.
    I seen you didnt mention the cup holders under the vents in the dmax but bought up the measuring tape on the tailgate haha
    Those holes on the ford im sure someone will make a cup holder insert for it as like you said, its just a useless hole with no real use.
    Its also good to note about the tailgate is the 2023 model of the dmax is getting torsions bars to make it lighter which is good just how the ranger has it also.

    Dual cab utes are totally impractical unless you are a tradie. The MUX or Everest are a far more sensible choice.

    • @LRyan225
      @LRyan225 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Depending on what you are using them actually. I'm not a tradie but often go back and forth between bunnings and some nursery(plant lover). Plus, camping and outdoor stuff like kayaking is our weekend routine, and an SUV isn't quite “versatile”. It can be both hall plants and bags of potting mix, but they will make my SUV trunk messy and smelly for the entire car. Same as dirty outdoor gear like tents, hiking boots, inflatable kayaks, etc. I am currently own a Prado, but still looking for a ute😂.

    • @jacobloft3898
      @jacobloft3898 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Not necessarily. I know plenty of families and non tradies who own utes so they can haul stuff and move loads without needing a trailer and don’t need to worry about getting the tub dirty like they would if they used the back half a of a wagon.

    • @paulh4691
      @paulh4691 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      How are they totally impractible? I'm not a tradie and have had one for 5 years. I put five mountain bikes in the back, I tow a 2.5 ton yacht with the back of the Ute full of gear, I go camping with a tray full of gear. I pick up loads of mulch from the landscaping place. It is a softer more comfortable ride with much less road noise, and a better stereo than my wife's newer Mazda 3 evolve! The Ute is now the number one choice as a lifestyle vehicle in Oz for good reason. If it were totally impractible that would hardly be the case😉.

      Thats not the only think that is weird about Fords choices of features in the whole range.
      Have a good look from XLT through to Wildtrak and even Raptor. e.g. Intrument cluster has no taco in any ranger except Raptor but Amarok Does.
      Can not option up XLT With a lot of Wildtrack options.
      Wildtrak has adjustable tie down rail. Why not available in XLT/Sport. So many other silly decisions by Ford....
      So now I am waiting to see if they listen before a purchase is made.

    Definitely not a family vehicle. Need a wagon for comfort. If you want a ute cut down a 200 or y62. Is the norm . Definitely not a power house or luxury in a ute. Unless you buy a raptor.

      In the Ford line any trim level that is Lariat or above is pretty luxurious. A King Ranch, Platinum or Limited is going to have more luxury features than a LC200 or a Y62/Armada.

    What’s most frustrating with Utes in Australia is that none seem to have a soft opening tailgate. Pull the handle and let it go and it lowers softly and gently. It just goes “bang” open unless you hold it. Unacceptable for the price.
    James you’re sitting far too close to the steering wheel in the Ranger while explaining the internals though.
    As for the price - if you’re spending $60-$90k you’re better getting an SUV over a Ute.

    Thanks for the report guys - I wouldn’t spend over $65k for a vehicle as I would rather put that into property which appreciates in value - I’ve owned many Subarus and now own a well looked after 2010 Hilux 4WD Diesel Auto which I bought just before Covid for only $18k and it’s solid, economical and reliable - value for money is excellent because it’s practically three cars for the price of one being a domestic gardening/trekking/daily driver which is harder to spread the duties with an SUV - Ford have reliability issues and it’s a bogun brand.

    Wheres the off-road/4x4 comparison? The 4x4 drive-train wasn't an 'afterthought'!!! These 'trucks' primarily & potentially belong to, and are purpose-built for folk who work and go camping/touring! Reliability is the big winner here so 'right off the bat' we aren't talking ford! And we are talking about the whole drive train! One of these vehicles is a 'buy once, low, low maintenance investment, both in a tool and tourer whereas the other vehicle is a high maintenance city pretentious poser that's going have folks regretting their initial decision to buy it in the first place! Those who have done the homework over the years know that Isuzu is the winner by a huge margin!

    I gotta tell you guys I have a current model MUX it is the same as the D-Max The MUX is the most annoying frustrating car I have ever driven and I have probably driven more cars than most. I christened it "Beeping Betty" cause that is all the bloody thing does beep beep beep Oh yeah lane control that is never off You go to doge a pot hole the bloody thing pulls you back into it Let alone the 2 cyclist I nearly cleaned up as I moved out to pass them and Beeping Betty pulled me straight back at them The poor guys thought I was deliberately trying to run them off the road. Yeah I set it all up so it doesn't do it, Yep It was great but guess what As soon as I turned it off and restarted for my next drive all the settings cancelled out and went back to where they were originally (the dealer told me it was a safety thing) and OH yeah the window wiper washer set up The washer outlet is in the actual wiper blade when you are sitting on 100kph no water goes to the bottom of the blade on the drivers side so right in front of your eyes you have a big dirty blurr. It has other multiple design floors like the drivers side sun visor cannot be pulled down and placed against the window as the rear vision mirror is in the road You can't pull the wiper arms back to clean the window as they foul on the bonnet I can go on and on. The car drives great has plenty of power it handles well but all the safety features control the car not you. ISUZU you can stick it right up your clacker Buyer Beware

      Get an Everest, our ranger resets every month or so but that’s much better than every frigging start up, it’s a 3.2 and has had no reliability concerns up to 40,000 kms, the last one is still being used by an employee at 420,000 kms no problem. Though I’m not sure about the new V6 and Bi-Turbo in terms of longevity
