Tintagel Castle is a medieval fortification located on the peninsula of Tintagel Island, adjacent to the village of Tintagel in Cornwall, England, UK. The site was possibly occupied in the Romano-British period, as an array of artefacts dating to this period have been found on the peninsula, but as yet no Roman era structure has been proven to have existed there. It subsequently saw settlement during the Early Medieval period, when it was probably one of the seasonal residences of the regional king of Dumnonia. In the 13th century, during the Later Medieval period, after Cornwall had been subsumed into the kingdom of England, a castle was built on the site by Richard, Earl of Cornwall, which later fell into disrepair and ruin. Archaeological investigation into the site began in the 19th century as it became a tourist attraction, with visitors coming to see the ruins of Richard's castle. In the 1930s, excavations revealed significant traces of a much earlier high status settlement, which had trading links with the Mediterranean during the Late Roman period.
The castle has a long association with Arthurian legends. This began in the 12th century when Geoffrey of Monmouth, in his mythical account of British history, the Historia Regum Britanniae, described Tintagel as the place of Arthur's conception. Geoffrey told the story that Arthur's father, King Uther Pendragon, was disguised by Merlin's sorcery to look like Gorlois, Duke of Cornwall, the husband of Igraine, Arthur's mother.
Tintagel Castle has been a tourist destination since the mid-19th century and is now managed by English Heritage.

Beautiful material and wonderful scenery...there are places that never saturate with their mystery and great legend.I think we are at a point where such a mysterious legend of King Arthur as a warrior should be motivating...
Beautiful... thank you for letting me watch and enjoy my eyes and souls...
Great respect and good luck 🕊️🤝

The castle was actually pretty pointless - its location had no significance and was unable to project power. It was, essentially, built to give Richard, Earl of Cornwall, a link to Arthurian legend in a bid to endear himself to the fiercely autonomous Cornish.

Hi Paul. I'm hoping to go to Cornwall next month, found your channel and I'm really enjoying the content. Can I ask what camera you used to video this?
Also, I noticed in this video and several others (including St Michael's Mount) that the locations are extremely quiet. Did you film them early in the morning?

According to EL QURAAN : Most of the mysterious monuments all over the world belong to ancient Humanities who lived on EARTH before Actual humanity. because :
    1. Humanity is not immortal , there were many humanities in the History of human being.
    2. Ancient Humanities WERE more than us + more powerful than us especially in dealing with EARTH. Those Structures have a scientific impact on the Earth even statues.
3.They commited the UNFORGIVABLE SIN : feeling themselves gods of the EARTH , gods of their life...SO refusing the Axial MESSAGES of our CREATOR :THE SUPREME OWNER OF every thing
    4. Every Damned Civilization Stays an EXAMPLE to the next humanities SO NO civilization can understand the sciences of the previous civiS and so on until the BIG DAY OF JUDGEMENT.
5.We may face the same Painful , Shameful END of Ancient Humanities if we keep destroying our hearts and our Earth in the name of science or religion or freedom or ...
