Something important that you didn't mention: there's a visual and audio que for when JC is charged. The Yamato's tsuba will flash and a specific sound will play (kinda like when charging beowulf) before the sheath starts sparking electricity. If you release the button *just* as that flash happens, you should get a just frame JC.
I find it easier to time the release through constant practice. For me, once i see the flash, it is already too late. It becomes a standard JC instead :(
The timing is definitely very rigid and almost requires you to practice it through constant trial-and-errors instead, which irks me endlessly but I guess we can't complain.

I learnd something cool recently but it would work only for a small amount of time, use haste doppelganger and use beowolf, as you slightly hold the button to attack it will let out just judgement cuts as you attack the enemy with Beowolf and covers for its lack of speed and reaction time. Thanks for the video! After playing with it for a bit, I realized you can only ever chain 3 perfect judgement cuts. Technically you can do 4 judgement cuts, but only if the first one is a regular cut and not frame perfect. And every time you do it right he says "Jackpot". Yeah, Vergil is saying Jackpot. We done here boys.
For those who are struggling, pay attention to the slight flash Yamato does as Vergil is done sheathing it, that's your cue to let go of the Δ/Υ button.
When Virgil sheathes his sword (or just before he completely does) you'll see the hilt glimmer. THATS when you release. The timing is just a bit short of the second release for the 3rd and 4th DS. Hope this helps.

After a week of nonstop void training, I finally got the hang of it, I still haven’t mastered it yet because I am not able to get it 10/10 times during the missions. I just wanted to say thank you for the help you have provided me through this video. Thank you so much I really mean it. For everyone else that is having a tough time, I followed the sound of when the distortion goes “zooooooom” right as that sound goes off I release for consecutive cuts. I don’t know if it helps but so far it has helped me. Once again thank you dude for the video I really appreciate it.

In 4se, I could only do it off a rapid slash or an upper slash. Other than that I couldn't get it consistently, and even with those two moves I would still screw up often.

Yeah so basically 3 was hold then repeatedly press in time, 4 didn't have a multi judgement cut although if you get a couple perfect cuts in a row then that kind of counts and 5 well I'm not sure no pun intended but it is hard as hell
If you need the timing of the infinite perfect cut. Set up on google a metronome. Make the speed to 90 BPM. Realease the button on the beat and hold the button instantly after you released it again. Repeat the releasing part on every beat with the holding after and you will get the hang of it very quick.

After actually learning how to chain JCs in-game, the way he explained it is actually the best way to say it. Only thing that I would add is that it helps if you make the button releases as fast as possible before holding down the button again.
You mentioned SDT + Doppelganger Judgment Cuts, but I wanted to bring up that if you JC in SDT, each JC can hit three enemies at once. Plus, the first couple of seconds of SDT don't burn any gauge, so you can pop SDT, send out 9 Judgement Cuts, then deactivate SDT and rinse and repeat to melt enemies.
As he sheaths his yamato, you see a flash of light when it fully sheaths....that’s when you release to get a perfect cut. The timing is delayed for the 1st perfect cut, but 2,3, and 4 are considerably quicker. It’s easy to pick up the timing in the void. The timing Is much more relaxed on air perfect cuts tho....hope that helps anyone having trouble finding the sweet spot
I found previous tutorials a little lacking (not necessarily ur fault- referring to the ones released around the same time as DMC5, when the meta was quite young), but this one went pretty in-depth while still remaining fairly well-edited, concise, and well-spoken. Excellently done. Eager to send this to my friends when the Vergil DLC comes out on PC and we start playing together again. :D
Noticed something interesting! I dunno if anyone else has pointed this out yet, but while I was practicing, something caught my eye that's helped me get it down. It appears that as Vergil performs a judgement cut and you have the attack button held down while he does so, his handle will actually flash blue to indicate when to let go! If you release the attack button RIGHT as it flashes, you'll get it down. Hope this is helpful, unless it's common knowledge that I'm just now discovering because I'm a scrub.
One good rule of thumb is to release triangle whenever Yamato put in the scabbard, almost as soon as it is completely sheathed release triangle or you're melee attack button
I was so bad on it took me probably 20 hours to finally get it on DMD Mission 12. Even though I watched the tutorials it never wrapped around my head. Until, before sparda room.

I'm struggling so badly to get it consistent. I've been hard timing it, and I only get it occasionally. But once I get a perfect, I just camt continue it. I've slowed down this video and looked at the exact moment the button is released, but it just isnt working
I juat go by movement now. After he JC the first time, i qait until he pust his entire sword back into his sheath and then i release once the full animation of him putting it back in is finished. Either that or ill give it a 1 second wait after he sheathes his sword again after the first JC

Months late, but try practicing it in midair; the timing is much easier than on the ground. Once you get the feel, the ground version will be easy too.
I found the timing to release the attack button is when it reaches neutral position, so when you do a JC, Vergil will move the Yamato and execute the JC, when he comes to sheath the sword, release the attack button when it comes to neutral position, you will know because there is a small white flash when Vergil comes to sheath his sword.
*I don't know if a lot of people know about letting the sheathing animation play out, It gives you a bar of DT. *If you are in SDT and use the extra combos like extended combo A for example, You get three bars instead of one, I'm not sure about the end of judgment cut end though. *Also, you can judgment cut out of judgment cut end. *You're welcome in the future. *I just hope people still watch this so they could get my hint. *Anyway, it might be easier to see the bar go up and release the POWER right when it goes up.
It's kinda a mechanic, because the camera can sometimes be tricky + it is to make sure, you are not getting hit by cheap attacks out of your view, the purpose being, that every single attack can be dodged or blocked, and not being able to see it, defeats that ability. But people ofcourse found out, that it can be easily exploited to single out specific enemies, or to simply cheese certain runs. The enemies howewer will still actively try to move into the camera view.
So it's all down to timing, which I'm kinda shit at because of my crap ass old man reflexes. Hell, I'm still garbo at pulling off EX-Act/MAX-Act. Still, if you managed to pull off 4 Just Cuts in a row during the last one Vergil will go "Jackpot!". WORTH IT.
Don't beat yourself up. I got the turbo mod for PC where you can freely set the game speed. Instead of making the game faster, I set it to 40% speed and practiced all day. Reaction time isn't the problem. The first just cut still fails me a lot even though I'm certain I hit the time window, and for the consecutive JCs, I don't have the faintest idea when you're supposed to release. Just comes down to luck for me.
To any still struggling, for me it was just trial and error. Hop into void, jump up and yes out different timings for the JC. After about 2 hours, I can now successfully hit the 3 perfect JC chain with a 90% success rate.
I figured out how to chain perfect judgment cuts in like 20 minutes so I practiced for a couple hours and basically now I can do an aerial combo consisting of just judgment cuts as Vergil
it is literally easy to blast through bloody palace with just the beowulf than it is to try to use judgment cuts the entire time that literally takes hours of practice lmfao

For some reason I just can’t get the timing down even with hours of practice. It’s really discouraging and I feel pretty foolish especially when it seems so straightforward in your guide (which is a great video btw, thanks for all your DMC5 content)
One think I learned When you do rapid slash, release the attack button as soon as he starts his voice lines (Scum, Die,etc) 90% of the time it will result in just cut, some you may have to tweak the timing for some voicelines but mostly, with that attack at least, its when he starts the voice line I'll try to see other attacks (with voicelines) follow the same timing or not (Note, i am playing with turbo on, maybe diff timing for non turbo players)
I think you should do Vergil tutorials on all weapons and basic combos with him. Question: Is the game good in either speed? If I were to ever pick up SE, I would be using Turbo but I guarantee it'd feel different

My first dmcv playthrough was on the vergil route. I spent the playthrough practicing timed JCs. It really helps learn boss and enemy patterns by staying at a distance and watching them while getting in meaningful DPS However the last boss really punished me for that till I manned up and started meleeing him.
I can’t do judgement cut while Vergil is on the ground, but I have the timing in the air perfectly and cheesed my way through DMD flying around as Vergil Judgement cutting every room. Idk if you get good at one of the stances just perfect it and use it, trying to perfect air, ground, and follow up combo judgment cut is a feat.

Doing my Vergil playthrough now and I finally got this down. Vergil shakes the sheathe of his sword when he does a JC. If you watch the movement of the sheathe and time the release for when the sheath is at the apex of it's movement sideways then you can do it easily. You basically have to make Vergil shake the sheath of his sword back and forth repeatedly, thinking about it that way made it easier for me. Also in the air it's really easy if you follow the animation of the attack, as soon as the JC begins to disappear is when you throw out another.
You forgot to mention this awesome advanced tech that you can "ease" the cancel by teleporting with airtrick/ trick down just before the timing window for just judgment cut and then let go of the button once vergil teleports and he will do a just judgement cut as soon as he appears. With this you can actually do just judgment cuts infinitenly and looks cool as fuck how vergil teleports and does a jc as soon as he appears, this is so much more useful since you can cancel any move into teleport.
Since Vergil just came out for PC, I found that holding down and releasing when his animation for the cut finishes to let go is also a good way to learn. . . also needing to increase button pressing speed right after you let go, this took me all day yesterday to learn :^( but this video helped me a lot, thanks.
I have officially gotten the pjc down to near perfect muscle memory. The trick is to not focus on the flash, but to establish a rhythm or beat that you sound off in your head.
I figured out that you can JC with at least one of Mirage Edge's moves, being combo B. Immediately after Vergil hits the ground after the spin, you can hold melee and release before he resheaths Yamato to switch back to the katana and execute a Just Cut. I'm not sure about Deep Stinger, I have to try it later, but I know for a fact that Mirage Edge Combo B lets you do a judgement cut, as you are indeed using Yamato to attack.
I've been practicing the just cut all day. Still suck at it hard and barely ever get two in a row. But my triangle button won out and wouldn't have any of it. It's my thumb that's seriously hurting. Not even joking.
I can do 4x JC without issues, the thing that helped me is the timing of the sound and not the visual cue. Aside from you having to activate it *before* you see the cue, you have to look at the sheath and not an enemy and it can be tricky if the camera is not at the right place. Also you should have talked about the timings more in depth (like frame data). Hitting perfect JCs can be tricky for a new player because the timings are different depending on your current state. Here's how I feel the speed at which you have to release to chain JCs. These are ms in difference, it's just how they feel relative to each other. You can skip the first step on both cases: On the ground JC - Medium PJC1 - Fast PJC2 - Fast PJC3 - Fast Usually players have an easier time doing it in the air because the timings are all the same. If you want to do 4x you have to speed it up after the first cut In the air: JC - Slow PJC1 - Slow PJC2 - Slow PJC3 - Slow
The frame perfect versions are essential. Charging the sword has evasive properties when you let go, but doing it at the perfect timing at the end of your slash. On the ground i use the second hit of combo A most often as i feel its easier to time than the first. After you have that id work on chaining them to the 3 frame perfect Judgment cuts as doing that in devil trigger will interrupt and break poise of most bosses allowing you for a judgment cut end or a hell on earth for almost free
After a few hours of practice, I finally managed to get it down. It's more about when you press the button to re-hold the charge than when to release it after the first one. I also noticed that you can only chain THREE perfect cuts. You can chain a total of four cuts if the first one is "imperfect."
Another tip is just do the basic combo where Vergil woll slash up and then down and to practice the timing you have to pay attention to the glow of rhe scabbard when you do a perfect judgement cut there is a moment where the entire sword with the scabbard glows blue and thats your timing when it glows blue you release the hold. The timing for the air variant is more forgiving compared to the ground it's muchore Difficult for me to do it on the ground compared to in the air.

idk if you still play this but I've found that doing it in the air is far more forgiving than doing it on the ground

I do this by accident a lot but later practiced and did judgement cut twice in a row. I was so proud.😂

I'm struggling so badly to get it consistent. I've been hard timing it, and I only get it occasionally. But once I get a perfect, I just camt continue it. I've slowed down this video and looked at the exact moment the button is released, but it just isnt working
I juat go by movement now. After he JC the first time, i qait until he pust his entire sword back into his sheath and then i release once the full animation of him putting it back in is finished. Either that or ill give it a 1 second wait after he sheathes his sword again after the first JC
I’ve been struggling for a long time tbh. I just couldn’t get it right, I had an easier attempt of Just Cut after the Rapid Slash, but others, it’s just so damn hard :(

Months late, but try practicing it in midair; the timing is much easier than on the ground. Once you get the feel, the ground version will be easy too.
I found the timing to release the attack button is when it reaches neutral position, so when you do a JC, Vergil will move the Yamato and execute the JC, when he comes to sheath the sword, release the attack button when it comes to neutral position, you will know because there is a small white flash when Vergil comes to sheath his sword.

Tip for Judgement Nut
Always use a Scabbard or else you will end up with Deadweight
*I don't know if a lot of people know about letting the sheathing animation play out, It gives you a bar of DT.
*If you are in SDT and use the extra combos like extended combo A for example, You get three bars instead of one, I'm not sure about the end of judgment cut end though.
*Also, you can judgment cut out of judgment cut end.
*You're welcome in the future.

*Anyway, it might be easier to see the bar go up and release the POWER right when it goes up.

It's kinda a mechanic, because the camera can sometimes be tricky + it is to make sure, you are not getting hit by cheap attacks out of your view, the purpose being, that every single attack can be dodged or blocked, and not being able to see it, defeats that ability. But people ofcourse found out, that it can be easily exploited to single out specific enemies, or to simply cheese certain runs. The enemies howewer will still actively try to move into the camera view.

Still, if you managed to pull off 4 Just Cuts in a row during the last one Vergil will go "Jackpot!". WORTH IT.
Don't beat yourself up. I got the turbo mod for PC where you can freely set the game speed. Instead of making the game faster, I set it to 40% speed and practiced all day. Reaction time isn't the problem. The first just cut still fails me a lot even though I'm certain I hit the time window, and for the consecutive JCs, I don't have the faintest idea when you're supposed to release. Just comes down to luck for me.

I remember how broken judgment cut was in dmc3, you could buffer jc to pull off insane combos while shooting off ghost swords.
To any still struggling, for me it was just trial and error. Hop into void, jump up and yes out different timings for the JC. After about 2 hours, I can now successfully hit the 3 perfect JC chain with a 90% success rate.
I figured out how to chain perfect judgment cuts in like 20 minutes so I practiced for a couple hours and basically now I can do an aerial combo consisting of just judgment cuts as Vergil

For some reason I just can’t get the timing down even with hours of practice. It’s really discouraging and I feel pretty foolish especially when it seems so straightforward in your guide (which is a great video btw, thanks for all your DMC5 content)

One think I learned
When you do rapid slash, release the attack button as soon as he starts his voice lines (Scum, Die,etc) 90% of the time it will result in just cut, some you may have to tweak the timing for some voicelines but mostly, with that attack at least, its when he starts the voice line
I'll try to see other attacks (with voicelines) follow the same timing or not (Note, i am playing with turbo on, maybe diff timing for non turbo players)
Now this technique is a true test of the player's MOTIVATION!
Great tip is to keep your finger on triangle and press it to a tempo in-between the vribation of the controller

My first dmcv playthrough was on the vergil route. I spent the playthrough practicing timed JCs.
It really helps learn boss and enemy patterns by staying at a distance and watching them while getting in meaningful DPS
However the last boss really punished me for that till I manned up and started meleeing him.

I can’t do judgement cut while Vergil is on the ground, but I have the timing in the air perfectly and cheesed my way through DMD flying around as Vergil Judgement cutting every room. Idk if you get good at one of the stances just perfect it and use it, trying to perfect air, ground, and follow up combo judgment cut is a feat.

I understand you, just focus when vergil sheath his sword, then release the button, and quickly re press the button again like you are charging, the second time it will seem like it is faster but in reality it is the same timing, when vergil sheath his sword again release the button, and do it again for the third time till you make 4 combos of it, it will need a little practice but truly easy, just focus when vergil sheath his sword
now I finally know how i was getting 2 instant cuts on random while trying to time it.

Doing my Vergil playthrough now and I finally got this down. Vergil shakes the sheathe of his sword when he does a JC. If you watch the movement of the sheathe and time the release for when the sheath is at the apex of it's movement sideways then you can do it easily. You basically have to make Vergil shake the sheath of his sword back and forth repeatedly, thinking about it that way made it easier for me. Also in the air it's really easy if you follow the animation of the attack, as soon as the JC begins to disappear is when you throw out another.
You forgot to mention this awesome advanced tech that you can "ease" the cancel by teleporting with airtrick/ trick down just before the timing window for just judgment cut and then let go of the button once vergil teleports and he will do a just judgement cut as soon as he appears. With this you can actually do just judgment cuts infinitenly and looks cool as fuck how vergil teleports and does a jc as soon as he appears, this is so much more useful since you can cancel any move into teleport.
Perfect. Now I know how to chop enemies into minced meat before they can react.
Since Vergil just came out for PC, I found that holding down and releasing when his animation for the cut finishes to let go is also a good way to learn. . . also needing to increase button pressing speed right after you let go, this took me all day yesterday to learn :^( but this video helped me a lot, thanks.

I have officially gotten the pjc down to near perfect muscle memory.
The trick is to not focus on the flash, but to establish a rhythm or beat that you sound off in your head.

Vergil is the best character
I figured out that you can JC with at least one of Mirage Edge's moves, being combo B. Immediately after Vergil hits the ground after the spin, you can hold melee and release before he resheaths Yamato to switch back to the katana and execute a Just Cut. I'm not sure about Deep Stinger, I have to try it later, but I know for a fact that Mirage Edge Combo B lets you do a judgement cut, as you are indeed using Yamato to attack.

I've been practicing the just cut all day. Still suck at it hard and barely ever get two in a row.
But my triangle button won out and wouldn't have any of it. It's my thumb that's seriously hurting. Not even joking.

I can do 4x JC without issues, the thing that helped me is the timing of the sound and not the visual cue. Aside from you having to activate it *before* you see the cue, you have to look at the sheath and not an enemy and it can be tricky if the camera is not at the right place.
Also you should have talked about the timings more in depth (like frame data). Hitting perfect JCs can be tricky for a new player because the timings are different depending on your current state.
Here's how I feel the speed at which you have to release to chain JCs. These are ms in difference, it's just how they feel relative to each other. You can skip the first step on both cases:
On the ground
JC - Medium
PJC1 - Fast
PJC2 - Fast
PJC3 - Fast
Usually players have an easier time doing it in the air because the timings are all the same. If you want to do 4x you have to speed it up after the first cut
In the air:
JC - Slow
PJC1 - Slow
PJC2 - Slow
PJC3 - Slow
i grew up with dmc in my teenage times✨ to learn vergils timed judgement cuts is almost like playing dark souls.....
The frame perfect versions are essential. Charging the sword has evasive properties when you let go, but doing it at the perfect timing at the end of your slash. On the ground i use the second hit of combo A most often as i feel its easier to time than the first. After you have that id work on chaining them to the 3 frame perfect Judgment cuts as doing that in devil trigger will interrupt and break poise of most bosses allowing you for a judgment cut end or a hell on earth for almost free

After a few hours of practice, I finally managed to get it down. It's more about when you press the button to re-hold the charge than when to release it after the first one. I also noticed that you can only chain THREE perfect cuts. You can chain a total of four cuts if the first one is "imperfect."

Don't know if you've seen it already, but someone figured out how to chain judgement cuts without having to attack in-between.
Another tip is just do the basic combo where Vergil woll slash up and then down and to practice the timing you have to pay attention to the glow of rhe scabbard when you do a perfect judgement cut there is a moment where the entire sword with the scabbard glows blue and thats your timing when it glows blue you release the hold. The timing for the air variant is more forgiving compared to the ground it's muchore Difficult for me to do it on the ground compared to in the air.
It's really hard to do 3-4 consecutive JCs. My 1st day playing as Vergil in DMC 5. He is much harder to master than in DMC 4 SE.
