This british candy you tried, I remeber that from when I was young. I'm not british tho, I'm german, so that kinda suprised me. They used to sell those at the open air swimming pools, alongside the classic ice cream sticks and stuff, what I think american associate with ice cream trucks. Also frenchfries. So those three things where most often what we got when we had a picknick at such a swimming pool, which in the summer was often like every day.
Probably a good call to censor yourself making the candy wet. 😂 That would have turned into many different gifs. And people would edit and replace that candy with all the wrong things. Like sticks of Blackpool rock candy. Eww
Guess it's a good thing you weren't trying Cadbury eggs or chocolate for this episode's snack. Also, a tiny part of Glee is in Everything Everywhere All At Once, still holding out for that reaction 🤞🍿❤

I'm from Sweden and for me Double dip has been around forever. I remember eating them in the eighties.
