my intel hd graphic 4600 has only 128mb vram with shared gpu memory of 2gb nut i cant play gta 4 and resident evil 3.. why?
my laptop specs:
11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1115G4 @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz (i upgraded my memory from 4 to 16 gb )
question:
i have 8187 mb total available graphics memory
but
the shared system memory is 8059 mb
and
dedicated video memory is 128 mb
why is it so????

Sub dossent matter
-shared memory is taken from storage(hdd/ssd) device, automatically set by windows but can be manually change, this works similarly with the extended memory or memfusion features on mobile phones
-dedicated memory is the memory that comes with your GPU
-if you are using apu/igpu then the dedicated memory is taken from your system RAM, default value depends on how much ram you have installed on your PC but can be manually set in bios
So which is better; 128mb display memory or 2gb display memory? Is the 2gb display memory means better performance?
I wanna remove my shared gpu memory my dedicated gt1030 has took 4 gb shared memory i have only 8 gb of ram I want to remove it becysome games are ram intensive 4gb Ram is too low what can I do

Thank you so much, I get it now. So, shared GPU memory is kinda useless. I mean, it allows you to run games that exceed your GPU VRAM, but the FPS drops so bad. So, the solution is still to buy a new dedicated GPU with a larger VRAM. 😂

What I understand by you comment. That your GPU have 8GB of ram and it will use 3GB of shared memory? Answer: Yes, if your game need 11 GB of memory. It will definitely use the 3 GB of shared memory. To run the game.
Also drop your resolution on the desktop and in-game to 1080x720 this will increase framerate. Graphic settings will have minimal effects of you drop resolution. You wont die if yo don't play in 1080 or 4K plus there's not a real noticeable difference if you turn up the anti-aliasing.

bro, I am facing the same problem. If you do (Total Available Graphics which is 6113mb of your system - Shared Video memory which is 4065mb = 2048 mb which is your dedicated video memory or VRAM. You can increase it when you free up some of your shared video memory which is being used by your system automatically. now the problem which I am facing is I don't know how to decrease shared video memory. If you know the solution, please let me know.
