  • I make these beans in the Instant Pot about every two weeks. They're great with cheddar cheese and onions sprinkled on top, or simply as a side dish for something else. Enjoy!

    You inspired me to cook a pot of beans! Love the salad spinner idea. Followed your recipe but added just a little ham. They turned out very good!!

      I would have done that, but I didn't have any ham or bacon. Hence the bacon grease at the end. Always looking for ways to use collected bacon grease!

    I would of just added some chopped bacon and let it cook with it to "infuse" the beans??

    I soak them overnight and cook for 30 minutes (then quick release). I also sauté the onion and garlic in the pot in bacon grease before adding the beans and water, and I don't add salt until it's done.

    Great simple to follow recipe, thanks cant wait to make it, do you know how long it will keep in the fridge and if i can freeze it?

      I've kept them in the fridge before for up to 7 days, but usually they're gone before that. Never tried to freeze them as is, but have put them in chili and froze that many times and they were still good as new.😊

      I did freeze them in portions for just one meal for 2, was great and highly recommend!

    My only question is why would you dip out the onion and garlic thats the good part

  • @hungrybill
    @hungrybill 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I like them softer, so (especially if the beans are old) cook them up to 2 hours longer. Why wait to put in the bacon grease? And why in all that's holy would you remove the onions and garlic?

    I heard pre soaking helps with reducing the gas. Is this only true with people with IBS and other conditions ?

      There is a link to the recipe in the video description. I made these according to the recipe but used 4 cloves of garlic instead of 2. And bought some Slap Ya Mama. Turned out absolutely fantastic!😊
