I'm running this setup for about 2 years right now. About 1000 miles so far. The hub gets pretty hot, but I didn't had any issues so far. The hub is filled with oil if I'm not mistaken. It's not 8 gears or any gears. It's a gearless hub. You change the "gear ratio" by adjusting two cones inside the hub. The power is transmitted by steel balls running in oil between the surface of the two cones with changeable diameter. Google "nu vinci hub inside" to see how it works. The ratio is enough to make 110km/h with my setup with just 4500 rpm I calculated. The motor is just too weak to pull that. 70-75 kmh max right now.
@@stubby7934 I have an Enviolo hub and a Bafang 1000W mid drive, no problem 6000 miles. Sturmy Archer or Shimano internal hubs couldn't handle the torque and burn itself out.
It's a thick steel pipe running with bearings in the middle part (even bigger pipe) wich I welded directly to the bike frame. On the left side ( motor side) I welded a normal fixed bmx pinion. On the right side I welded a BMX freewheel pinion, which is connected to te pedals by chain. Also welded on the right side is a fixed bmx pinion which connects the jackshaft with the hub with the third chain. With this setup you can pedal and your hub and wheel is turning. Motor is also turning if the clutch is not engaged. If the motor is running your pedals stand still due to the freewheel.
@@Son-of-Allen-key Thank you! This is really helpful. I think I might go with the same approach as yours. I'm waiting for my engine to arrive for a vintage bicycle I'm working on. I'm going for something inspired by the bikes in the early 1900's. It's going to be a quick build, but your advice just made it a whole lot quicker.
Very cool! Is there a way to purchase the jackshaft part that you are using by itself without buying the whole jackshaft kit? I'd for sure be interested in doing something like this
Thank you. Never thought 1000 people would watch or are interested in this kind of stuff. So I'm currently making a new video where I'll explain how it works.
Your speed isn't right at all,,just look at it right as you were taken off,,, you were hardly moving and it was showing 15 mph and went from 15 to 20mph and you slowed down so I'm calling BS on that and its a jack shaft sold on Amazon and dont work well at all causing the engine to run hot and kill that's why nobody uses them ,,
I was thinking of doing this...let us know how well the hub holds up to the power going through it. 8 -speed?

@@Son-of-Allen-key Ahh, the CVT hubs...yet to see one in person! I'm glad to see it's been able to put up with the abuse so far.

Brilliant idea! Never thought of using this method. I was looking for CVT's but I think this is a much much better idea. THANK YOU!
I didn't like the two long chains and thought this system is already working in pretty strong e bikes.
@@Son-of-Allen-key How did you build the jackshaft? What parts did you use?

Cool looking build bro thanks for sharing it
Very cool man. I can see you put a lot into this knife. Thanks for sharing and 5 smoke signals for your video.
Thanks ! Videos still suck but I'm working on it

I built the jackshaft. Check my new video on it if you're interested on motorized bicycle jackshafts. Thanks for commenting.

This bike is so nice. Love the way it looks. I have something similar to that. Where did u get that gas tank though??
It's just a pipe and I welded caps at the ends and soldered brass fittings for fuel cap and fuel switch thread. Thank you mrBri
@ Damn that’s amazing. Great job! I’ve always wanted a tank like that for my bike.
Can you share video how you make the jackshaft?
Please check my new video if you're interested in the jackshaft?
what bike did you put this on?
Soo cool. I don't get how it works but it's awesome. I'd be a bit scared tho in that speed.

Kph?
Yes.
That was kilometers per hour which is about 70 kmph is what 40mph correct
Unfortunately yes, 43 miles per hour.
I get 40mph without transmission but I like ur gas tank where can I get one

Hey BilliBob, thanks for your comment. We use the metric system here. But this very jackshaft you won't find on amazon, that's for sure. I made it.
@@Son-of-Allen-key i understand ,,i tried to take my comment off ,but i see its still up ,,i was wrong for being ugly anyway
How did you manage to do that, greetings and first comment.
Not sure what exactly you mean, but bad welding skills and a wild imagination sums it up quite well 😎
