I think I'm doing a good job keeping mine cheap. I got the 240 for a grand, sold ka, trans, driveshaft, rear end, wiring harness, stage 2 clutch, and lightweight flywheel for like 400. Traded an extra turbo straight across for my 5.3 with harness and ecu from a 99 Silverado. Gotta pick up a new rear end, going for a ford 9 inch. Nice, thinking about doing this instead of ls2.
Im in the process of doing this just got my engine started but how do I wire in the harness to the s13 dash plug?
Dexter Oliver not sure, I didnt do that haha
Dexter Oliver plenty of info online though. Just find which wire coming out of the ecu matches the wire for that function on the dash plug
freaking awesome video
Great vid. Very helpful.
360p? What did you film this with, a potato?
I thought it was a beat that he filmed it with at first
how does that nv3500 feel? im putting that transmission in my rx7 and i want to know how it feels in a car, is it quick?
BackyardRx7 Swap with a stock 240 diff, 1st gear is basically not needed. 3000 rpm at 70~ mph on highway in 5th. but, never go over 4th when drifting. feels good.
awesome, thanks for the quick response, and people told me the nv3500 didnt have good ratios for racing or quick spirited driving
BackyardRx7 Swap it's not bad, but view it as 1 gear less than normal. so nv3500 2nd gear is my first gear, 3rd is my 2nd, etc...
ah alright, to counter that ill just make the rear diff a 3.43 ratio, thanks for the info!
BackyardRx7 Swap probably work out well. good luck!
Do you have picture of how you cut your crossmember ? So for all questions doing it tomorrow.
No I don't. But like I said, theres tons of info and pictures online.
How're you enjoying this swap overall? Still reliable and pull pretty hard?
Austin McWain yeah man I love it. I'm working on fixing some slight misfiring, not too sure what the problem is, but working on it as I find time
cooperc240 wow you replied faster than i expected haha, would the same mounts work for like 6.0 ly6? Or would you have to change alot or things? And any idea on the power?
Austin McWain I'm pretty sure it would be the same, but can't be certain. I think all ls blocks from 4.8 to 6.2 or whatever are basically same block design and size, as far as I know. But the 8.1 I'm pretty sure is way different. I know for a fact the 4.8 and 5.3 are basically identical.
cooperc240 what transmission did you run?
Austin McWain its in the video
Thanks man. Def good info
A mid 60s c-10 w327 ie:5.3l seems to be about right.
Yo I'm about to order a nv3500 did the shifter come out the factory hole or did it come further forward and if so how further forward did come I wanna keep all my oem interior ,
It's in the video bud. It is forward of OEM
@@cooperc240 I saw that you said that I was asking do you recall about how fsr it roughly is I heard on a forum it was like 14in but your video doesn't seem like it's 14in
@@06RHDSUBIEWAGON I don't remember at all. You can use my video to try and estimate the distance though
@@cooperc240 Roger that's what I've been doing honestly not alot of guys have been using the nv3500 . Do you still have it in the car now?.
@@06RHDSUBIEWAGON that Trans is long gone lol
Doing a 5.3 drift swap with a turbo. 243 heads or 317 heads?
Smalls YT no idea, im just using the stock truck heads. haven't done any research on heads yet
Smalls YT go with stock heads if you havent all ready. pull em off. put arp head studs in. higher tension valvesprings and stronger pushrods. and an ls6 cam will work like a charm
Also for maybe some hard to fab parts, try www.sikky.com they have everything for complete swap
Do you have the link or part number for the oil pan ?
Search Pontiac gto oil pan, you should find the part number pretty easily. However I'm pretty sure they are discontinued so you'll have to find used or NOS.
I'm thinking about doing this, but i also can't find forums on it!
+yitzac1991 Man, I'm going the route you did, can you please send me the excel sheet? I would really appreciate your help on your engine set up because everything else is super expensive!
+Carlos Bravo kevinbdc1994@live.com
Thank you for doing the price sheet
update: i have my motor, a cheap 4l60e (i know its a bad choice, but i cant argue with 150 dollars. and im going full manual valve body so thatll take strain off of some of the clutches. got a 60mm turbo, just need to work my fuel, get a driveshaft, and sway bar. any other suggestions or advice??
+yitzac1991 its not too big. it uses the same mount as a t56, and ive already "massaged" my tranny well with a hammer. im gonna look and see what i can do to build this tranny a bit too so i get some life. but itll save me a good bit of money vs t56 and save some work. im in my swap about 1500 including my car though. trying for under 2500 budget for a boosted ls 240
+yitzac1991 did you have to relocate the oil filter? ir does it work with gto placement
+yitzac1991 awesome, ill definitely do that then. and im guessing you suggest something better to move oil? sorry to hear about your motor , but it seems like it handled a fair amount of abuse for a cheap motor
Good advice thanks for the vid
What trans is in the car?
Can you send me that excel sheet?🤔 trying to do a ls swap to my 240
Mario Castro check the vid description
hood clearence?? wat about on a s14
infinite hood clearance beause you have to cut it lol. need car accessories and intake for hood to fit normally
Long time I don't see your videos bro, I finish my build I did the same as you, everything is ok bro ? Miss your videos thanks
I was just at LS Fest, more videos soon!
what clutch, flywheel and pressure plate did you use ?
Joe Valenta links in description to that s10 forum
Yea I saw that but for some reason the link didn't work for me. Every time I click the URL it says page not found lol
Joe Valenta works fine for me www.v8s10.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=29060#p304518
Lol worked that time of course lol. Thanx for the speedy reply!
any link or some guidance to find those?
here is his ad, you can message him on ebay and ask for just the motor mounts:

hey man what ypu did for harness?
Antonio Gonzalez read the description man. stock truck harness modified for standalone operation.
where did you install turnone PN1115?
I actually posted another video detailing that. It went straight into the pump, and then a 6AN adapter fitting goes into that TurnOne piece.
@@cooperc240 i found your video SUPER HELPFUL! Thank yoh
Do you know how well a 4l80e will fit? Have a 90 240sx
Im not totally sure, but I know the tunnel would still need to be hammered or modified.
how much power will that transmission handle?
driftingpsycho86 not too sure, ive heard up to 350 or 400 hp, but it handles a stock truck motor fine
cooperc240 so what clutch setup was it again think I am going with your setup. Thanks
driftingpsycho86 I forget, all the clutch info is in the link I posted to v8s10.org
can you send me parts list and prices
GEARHEAD HUFF need an email address
Me too please!! Castromario231@yahoo.com
Thank you so much for this!
No problem, share with your friends!
Will do. Most of my friends love to give me crap for not going JZ/SR for my swap choice lol. I just can't wait to hear the V8 rumblin' in my car!
the oil pan clearance did u notch the crossmember? or swap bar
RideUnited28 yes you have to notch the subframe. and I'm not running a sway bar, but I dont think stock bar will fit.
cooperc240 anyway around that???
RideUnited28 around notching subframe? buy an oil pan that was made for an ls 240 swap lol
see its always good to come back and scavenge the comments i was just about to ask you and got my answer xD
glad you actually read through them! haha good luck man
How do you learn swaps like this
Just gotta do it
Did u go with a pilot bushing an what part number its my only problem
Korry Femison yes it was a bushing, but I forget the part number. See the link in my description that talks about clutch stuff
Did you have to cut cross member for that gto pan?
Yes the subframe has to be notched. There is a ton of info on doing this online
Do you know or what was the inner diameter of the radiatior hose ? I'm also looking to add a water temp sensor as well. As well as the transmission was it a 4x4 trans or 2wd ?.
I think its 1.35" ID
Trans has to be a 2wd
@@cooperc240 I'm currently looking into a trans now , way better then. T56 your video has definitely helped me out a ton with my build being on army pay lol
@@cooperc240 you have any extra hose laying around to check ? Or have old ebay purchase listing
No not really, sorry man. I used a 240sx radiator so you can look online and see what size they are
Picked up a widebody 240 for $800 without an engine ;))
Did you have to change any drive shaft or differential
OEM differential, custom shaft
how does it feeli far as the weight of the swap
Sabby Domingo if I remember correctly, when I corner balanced the car it was 50.1% front, 49.9% rear. pretty balanced, better than I thought. also not running a sway bar and it slides great.
cooperc240 iron block isn't it?
Did you have to modify the crossmember with the GTO pan?
itsmelemmy yes you have to notch it
@@cooperc240 hey, what do you have to do to get it to fit? im doing the swap right now and need an oil pan
@@noahtetreau6636 you can Google search how to notch the subframe to fit the gto pan. It's hard to describe over text
@@cooperc240 okay thanks, would it be worth it to get a gto pan and notch it or just get a swap pan like a sikky pan
@@noahtetreau6636 I like the gto pan but I did get a good deal on it. Some swap pans can be around the $500 range, so it depends how much you wanna spend

Did you use the stock Nissan rear end??
Yes, with welded diff
And it’s held up? Lol impressive
Trying to find video on shifter
