    I am a fan of the 5.3s . I put one in a 70c-10. Added Same generation z06 valvtrain and cam with a tune 400hp and 430tq to wheels for not much money. Stock ecu pulled from whatever vehicle. Hp tuners. Swap harness. Done

      @ 100% agree. Finding a good 6.0 is harder . But prices have also come down . For a while those 6.0s were treated like golden Nugget’s

      What was your build recipe for building 400/430 (especially the 430) from a 5.3? Usually lb fts isn't much higher without it having the longer stroke of the 6.0.

      @ torque curve can be very dependent on the cam and head setup

    5th gen Camaro here with lq9 forged internals , ls3 heads and twin turbos. I’m happy with this choice.

    6.0 LS L77 V8 Holden Commodore and Pontiac G8 and Chevy Caprice PPV, Chevy SS , L94 6.2 V8.

    All good engines, i opted for the ly6 6.0 with the ls3 heads. Great for boost with iron block and aluminium heads

    You can always go for a LM4 from a Trailblazer which is 3rd gen and aluminum 5.2 or even the later Trailblazer LH6 aluminum 5.3. I find these are ignored when I'm looking at the yard.

    I have a truck 6.0 in my 87 el Camino with a 4L80E fit with no problem All truck accessories except for the water pump in the oil PAN .

      It's almost as fast as my 08 c6 corvette I have a HP Tuner I clock in at 350 to wheel on the highway stock engine with a cam swap upgrade and 3.23 zexel torsen rear. I also rebuild my 4L80E trans.

    The LS3 is awesome, have one in my 2013 Grand Sport. Nothing to do but oil changes for 100k miles.. There’s a reason they swap this engine in classic Corvettes, Chevelles & Camaros…

    Put an Lm7 in a 61 Pontiac Bonneville. Wasn't too tall. Just put a shallower oil pan on it. Had to notch the front cross member a little to get the thing down to where center of crank was same as original 389.

    I have a lq9 i hand ported 799 with ported nnbs intake with 92 mm throttle body with truck accessories in my third gen Camaro Claire's the hood perfectly making 510 to the back wheels

      Just sold an LQ9 short lock with a pair of 799 heads for $750 2 weeks ago… I’ve had several of them and a single 6.2L from a burnt 08 Denali…. Currently have a couple L33 aluminum block 5.3L

    Awesome info!!!. I am doing a Ls3/6L80E swap in a 03'Crown Vic Police Interceptor. Its a project with my grandkids. I installed a BTR RedHot cam in her. She should put out quite a bit of horsepower!!!! I had a 6.2L block fall in my lap for $500. Otherwise i wouldnt have been doing a Ls3. I would have tried for a 6.0 lol. Fter suspension nd big brakes she will see some track use

      @@mjth904 the LS1 should be a lot cheaper than it is, but it’s taxed kinda like the 2JZ-GTE. If it were $500-$1000 less it would be a no brainer

    I have a 13 sliverado 1500. I'm staying with lc7 all aluminum 5.3 im getting ready to start buying a complete upgrade build parts and deals. Looking to build it for about 525hp to 725hp N/A. Trans built to handle 1400 to 1600 ft lbs. Incase I decide to a boosted app. Either a nice size single or a compound setup with a smaller turbo feeding a larger one. Will eventually be either e85 93+ tuned

    I have a Iron LS6 (it was a LM7 that was bored out to 3.898, has flat tops and Gen 3 Truck Intake, has Truck Norris Cam, 243 heads.

    I gots me one of those lq9s with a Btr truck norris cam shoved into a 03 S10 step side. Ford 8.8 with 3.73 gears Limited slip it's a hand full

    What up fam just finished watching your TH-cam channel and I have a question. Is it possible to LS swap a 2012 infinity qx56? Is so which engine would be good

      @@rothamilledge1650 you can LS swap anything with enough effort. The hard part with that chassis is there’s not going to be any aftermarket parts like motor mounts and stuff. But an LQ4 or LQ9 would be a good budget choice. LS3 if you want a better engine and have the money

      @Teysik LS3 6.2L crate motor?? What do you think? Maybe put a small cam in it so it's not chopping as much. Really just desire more horse power and a little bark in the exhaust when I hit the gas. Not trying to run a 1/4 mile or nothing

      @@it3728 400hp is easy. Just get a lq4 or lq9. Holley terminator ecu would be the easiest and is a good value. If on a tight budget just use the stock ecu and HP tuners. Slap a cam in it and you’ll be over 400

    I am commenting before hand to say that i believe that when choosing an LS for your build, you can still do any of the ones you want, however just keep in mind there is still a large power to weight ratio, so although your civic has a 4.8l LS swap making 1000hp(a real person did this) Your wheels are gonna spin bc of how heavy the engine is compared to the car, i made this mistake BADLY, a 3,100lbs cobalt vehicle is too light for a 5.7 LS4

    What kind of casting numbers are we looking for on an LQ-9 Iam a newbie to this world but Iam interested

      If the head is stamped with 035, it’s an LQ9. Otherwise the only way to know is the vin from the vehicle it came out of (assuming it’s original engine, or by checking to make sure it has flat top pistons, not dished. The 8th vin digit for an LQ9 should be N

    If you want a aluminum LS for cheap you can get a LM4 or LZ1 or L94 or L98

      @@WayneMontes-mh7bp it’s possible to use the 700r4. Just need a spacer on the crank. Just google 5.3 to 700r4. Don’t use a 4l60e, they’re junk. A 4l80e would be the best option

    I wonder if it's just better to buy a Dart LS Next gen3 block, about $4000, sure you have to buy the crank, cam pistons and a whole lot extra to build it but in the long run you can get a lot more horse power, plus you have a new block that doesn't have the design floors from the old block. You could buy a second hand LS block that's blown itself up for the ECU heads if they are ok and all the accessory crap. But your core, the block, pistons, crank would be all new, strong and hell and you have piece of mind. The second hand LS market for blocks is getting too expensive for what they are these days.

      @@tronwars7130 that would be a sick build, but it would be super expensive! The factory iron blocks didn’t have many major flaws. By the time you buy everything to complete that engine you’re looking at an easy $10k plus. And then you still need everything else to get it running in your chassis

      Little bit of work? The intake and heads and injectors can support 700hp at crank before anything is not sufficient. Delete cylinder deactivation and the vvt do a trunion upgrade just to be safe and be selective on the cam+ matching springs to meet your build. Apr head studs are a great upgrade as well. Get a tune by someone who knows what there doing and invest in long tube headers. Reliable, dependable and unless u choose a stage 1 cam your gonna be over 500hp with loads of torque. Plus that weight savings! Richard holdermeyer has great videos dyno testing various ls builds great info source where u can see how much each modification makes!

      @ well they are all great engines. There’s no denying that. If you get a good deal on an LS2 or have a car with one, use it. But if I were going out to buy an engine for a build, the LS2 wouldn’t be my first choice

      @Teysik I be popping the ls2 in the 2005 mustang tune it to 480hp on budget making an unbelievable machine for the street be clapping my homies for fun be running and gunning cuz I am crazy my guy I be ripping them through and through like a thunderbolt the 480 ls is what the media be screaming when I am popping these bangers while shredding the tire like cheddar at chucke cheese I really hope you like the song cause I be all about fun in the ls mustang.

    The Denali didn't come with an LQ9. They are LQ4. I've bought several and the vin shows they are LQ4 6.0...
    Also the 2 wheel drive Escalades are 5.3, only the all wheel drive Escalades are LQ9 6.0

    I have an 06 1500 Chevy. It has an all aluminum 5.3 H.O. it has different heads and cam and pistons.... I read that they're rare. Are they really?

      It tales a different belt and has electric fans. A few other differences. Alternator. My mother bought the truck new. I'll keep it forever probably. Is it worth rebuilding this engine instead of getting another one. Want to turbo it at some point.

      @@jerryantaya1266 that would be the L33 engine. Not super rare, but definitely less common. The aluminum blocks won’t take as much boost, so don’t go crazy with it. But it’s a good engine

      @Teysik just my personal choice because of cost and availability. I have two Silverado 1500's with 5.3's. If you get a 6.0 you'll love it, go for it!

      @ there’s definitely nothing wrong with the 5.3! But nowadays they’re not much cheaper than a 6.0 if you’re buying one for a swap

    Probably can get any of these engines for a whole lot less if you go pick n pull in a small city, paid 5k for my 6.2 with everything

      @Teysik just engine trans and the computer, you can buy the whole car or just parts. They in it for the money so they'll part em out but they pulled it themselves, i went to one in SC on I-85 in between Spartanburg and Greenville

    Its 2025.. get an LT1 and easily make 600hp NA.. mine makes 575 wheel with HCI.. forget boost.. NA power is so much more fun for a drivers car..

    80 lbs? It’s more like 105 lbs difference between aluminum block vs iron. Don’t let a little fact get involved.

      @@peteJoseph-x3h you’re right. Either way, if you’re chasing weight savings you’ll want aluminum. If weight isn’t that big of a deal then go with iron. There’s tons of factors that may sway somebody one way or the other

    I wouldn’t recommend buying an LS2 out of a Trailblazer SS. Bearings are most likely shot or going bad. Terrible front sump oil pickup tube design.

      Yup! I just pulled my LS2 out of my TBSS AWD. What a terrible design to use for the SS. A few hard launches and all of the oil sloshes to the back of the pan. I installed a baffle which holds it in the front of the pan, but I was too late.

      @Teysik I use to work at a Chevy dealership. No it's not tune key at 13 grand. But honestly, the only oe parts I would want is the intake. Everything else can be gained from the aftermarket and work better than the original

      @ because you stated the lq9 came in the special edition Silverados but the special editions were the gmt800 99 to 07 platform and that’s the ss silverado intimidator which was cough cough ls2 same drivetrain as the ss trail blazer and yes the 5.3 4.8 share the same block as the ls1 and can use the same crank u dork imagine defending your own video that your wrong on tho and btw the only special edition gmt900 trucks which was 08 plus which was lt motors anyways was the vortech max 😂😂😂🙈

    Don't forget the LS4 at 5.3L it built 300 HP it is all aluminum the only bad thing is if you use it in rear wheel drive you will have to buy a oilpan with a starter mount because the LS4 has no starter mount.

    Got a 6.2 with a 4l80e.totally rebuilt with Wiseco forged pistons,Scat forged rods,Texas Speed stage 2 n/a cam with Pac .660 springs and BTR rockers with version 2 trunions.Its going in my 96 Silverado thats got a QA1 stage 2 full suspension kit front and rear.Eaton Trutrack with Yukon 3.73s.Should be pretty sweet with around 550hp at the crank.

    He has made the most sense out of any white boy on the Internet talking about LS swapping. I like this guys video and now I’m going to subscribe just for one solid video. I think you should do the same and I’m a third generation GM truck mechanic he’s right, but you should go with Vortech, what to tell you the truth any GM small block from 1980 on up should be suffices for anything you’re trying to do unless you need that million horsepower just to get your project up and moving you should be all right and I would stick to the truck engines and just like he said change the oil pans Fuck all those Corvette engines and bullshit like that it’s going to cost you more than you’re willing to pay to even get started 😂😂😂🤣🤣
