Just purchased a brand new Focus Titanium mild hybrid 125 auto1litre ecoboost. The driving experience and refinement is so impressive as is the excellent build quality. Love the 13 inch infotainment screen and the beautifully simplistic layout of the cabin. I thought my 9 year old Fiesta Titanium ecoboost that I've just traded in was a great car, but the Focus really is in the next league up! Had a mk 1 Focus for 9 years also, and loved that! The latest Focus should be on your shortlist if like myself you have no interest in suv/crossovers. So glad I got mine now, bearing in mind the imminent date looms when the Focus will no longer be made! Such a shame really to have to say goodbye to two classics, the other of course being the Fiesta as of June 2023.

It’s a great car to drive and own. I understand Ford will replace it with an electric alternative eventually, but I’ll keep driving my diesel version till the wheels fall off, I love it!
They may not, the introduction of HVO100 biodiesel should entice manufacturers to continue to at least make diesel, Efuels may or may not become a reality but they are a direct replacement for petrol and diesel. You can use HVO100 now in your diesel and the reality is that you'll probably be driving around far greener than any electric car.
Ford made a huge mistake not doing 1.5 litre 182ps version of the eco boost. They had it before the facelift you’re reviewing here and it had better suspension (not torsion beam) Real shame they’re discontinuing the focus

The original coolant problem causing ecoboom I believe was found to be a hose that was perishing sooner than it should of and was replaced on a recall, however see my reply below about the current situation.
@ryanstafford7776 Still an issue on cars up to 2018/19. The normal timing chain was replaced with a "wet belt" in which runs through the oil, this if not serviced properly could lead to the disintergration of the belt which breaks up, clogs the oil pump filter and starves the engine of oil causing it to fail completely and meaning a new engine is required. Ford say the belts should last around 100,000 miles but some are going as low as 37,000 miles. The latest engines with mhev now have a chain instead of a wet belt, however the oil pump is still a wet belt and in cars as young as 4 years with 25,000 miles some have been failing...having said that those cars seemed to have had little or no servicing at all which could have prevented these issues. The mhev running all the time may reduce the wear and tear on the oill pump belt as the engine doesn't need to work so hard as the electric part assists the enging meaning less strain, but only time will tell. Just search for Ford wet belt issues and you'll see all the problems people have had, hence the nick name ecoboom.
